I did not hear a knock as may be expected emerging from a shower and in the middle of.drying off, TV blasting and yet I heard the door open. He was standing there I was naked and afraid and not like the reality show. He asked me if there was running water or leaking neither of which or I would have also called the Front Desk. There are numerous reviews stating leaking problems and it does not surprise me, walking into a room without calling first does. When I went down to the Front Desk to ask about this the two individuals knew NOTHING about said complaint/leak and said policy was to knock three times. That was the best they could offer. If they did not know how did Security know about the leak and go the room without checking to see if the room was vacant etc? Again the stories never added up as I asked the Night Clerk had she heard of this and did they go into my room while I was out for the night as that too concerned me. She too had heard nothing about any of it. So with that you add to the darkness of the room itself an interior view of walls of the building they are demolishing adjacent to the hotel. The overall griminess that no shower can rid you of the feel. A Room not refreshed the next day from cups to coffee, but the bed made, the few towels I had used replaced but it was still just dingy, as I arrived late Tuesday and thankfully did not shower that night but the Bar had no white wine and along with that there is NOTHING close Downtown after 8 that is remotely accessible other than three shady poorly maintained Bodegas. The nearest bar a dive and the Hotel itself is surrounded by fencing due to the Construction so access is challenging but a walk down 9th street you will see a sign affixed to the door on the abandoned building directly next door and it says "............ POOP HERE PLEASE". the Do Not blacked out. I think that says a lot as at night it is as empty as it is during the day frankly. Other than the Hotel there is a Starbucks in the Omni and another coffee shop in the Shockoe area that is open at 8 am. And trust me that place makes the worst coffee and frozen bagel ever. It is desolate until you get closer to the water or go into the Arts District to find decent food. Shocking for a Southern City frankly. All in all Richmond has an amazing outdoor Amphitheater that is a year old and a fantastic Art Museum along with free city buses that at least during the day you can get around. The Amtrak Terminal is "interesting" but it is car town clearly. The Hotel was convenient to it and the stadium but it is deep need of a cleaning and a remodeling of fixtures and plumbing clearly.

Our number on priority was location, and The One was beyond perfect. It's within walking distance of Richmond's greatest museums as well as the popular Carytown neighborhood where we spent much of our visit. When we arrived, Sean and Polly weren't at home, but we were provided with an access code to get in to the guest rooms. We were absolutely floored when we walked in. The One only has two guest rooms, which makes it the perfect place for privacy. Our room, The Dream Suite, is located at the top of the stairs and is beautifully decorated in shades of deep red. My only very minor gripe is that the bathrooms are no located "en suite." Instead, they are directly outside the rooms. So while each bedroom does have its own bathroom, you do need to leave your room to get to it. Not a huge deal since there are only two guest rooms...but you can't traipse to the bathroom naked at 2am, either! The parlor is located across the hall from the guest rooms and is not only a comfortable lounge spot, but is also stocked full of snacks and beverages. This is also where continental breakfast is served in the morning. The spread is pretty standard- muffins, bagels, cereal, etc. It didn't particularly suit my fancy (way too carb-heavy), but it's the type of breakfast my boyfriend loves. Sean and Polly were fantastic hosts; very attentive and friendly. Honestly, they were the best B&B owners I have ever interacted with. You can tell that they truly love what they do. We can't wait to go back to Richmond to spend another night at The One. Thanks to Polly and Sean for a great stay!

I used to live in the Fan/Museum District, and I love this place because it is in such a good location, right next to the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts (which I highly recommend as well!), as well as walking distance to shops and restaurants in Carytown, the Fan, etc. We stayed in the carriage house the first time and the house itself the second time. Both were very cozy, with lots of amenities, such as bathrobes, bottled water, and coffee pot/tea in the room. The breakfast in the morning is phenomenal. It is made to order, with eggs, bacon, various rolls, oatmeal, coffee, etc. and served in the house's dining room. The staff is absolutely lovely and so welcoming. Another added bonus is that they provide tickets for admission to the special exhibit at the VMFA, as well as passes to get a free drink in their cafeteria. Love, love, LOVE this place. The bed is firm and room is spacious and clean. The table lamp did not work but the room is bright enough with the other working lights. If I have to complain about one thing, it is there is no tv menu and the tv doesn't offer an online menu too so I end up flipping the channels every night. I also didn't know how to use the phone. But dialing 0 gives you the front desk. Staff is responsive. They came up and brought me a hair dryer and to fix the window shade that was stuck. Rooms are quiet and I do like the window shades that keep to room dark at night. I also like how there is hot water coffee and ice water in the lobby. Elevators are fast! I would stay at this hotel again.

One of the owners was dolling out the samples and it was nice to chat with him. You could tell he and his wife put a lot of love into their Inn. There are several properties off I95, so they do have intense competition. The lot is very large and even when sold out there is room. A pet peeve is the amount of dirt from contractors that stay. The trash cans in front have maintained their boundaries. A big bonus is electric car hook ups. Property -built in September 2025. The hotel is maintained very well in spite of its heavy contractor use. The staff does a tremendous job keeping dirt and dust down considering. I did alert management on clean the stairwell with lots of contractor debris. Hotel amenities- Candlewood is an extended stay, so it has a full kitchen with supplies. I have utilized the supplies in the kitchen. Workout room is very nice, but will pick at it too since I'm a gym rat. Will breakout a separate. FREE Laundry on site. Coffee 24/7. Small store with drinks, snacks and toiletry items. Outdoor picnic and grilling area. Comfortable lobby with a huge big screen TV. Staff service - this is where they have shined. Front desk smiles, is eager to help. I have needed late checkouts and they accommodated me with my IHG status. Housekeeping staff overseen in the hall ways and elevator all have smiled. They do not offer an automated wake up call service. However, alarm clocks are in the room. Accommodations - Two room keys will be given to guest. One goes inside there. I've stayed in two room types a King and a Deluxe Suite. The rooms have a lot of thoughtful designs for business travelers. The kitchen is a prime example. The open closet is another that has an iron provided. There is plenty of drawer storage. Also a desk. Is present, but unsure if keeping this up. The two rooms were different on climate control. One had a wall and other window. The one would not drop past 68° and was not as comfortable as I would've enjoyed. Comfortable furnishings, especially the bed & pillows and quality liens. A in room safe was cool in my deluxe, but it did not work. Hot water inconsistent. Area convinces - There is a new Starbucks directly across the street in Rivers Bend. Also a Food Lion, liquor store and dry cleaners. Many more that are in the Rivers Bend Shopping Center. A Sheetz fueling station and CVS is walking distance. Exercise Room - one of the best weight and cardio rooms in a hotel I've experienced. They have a lot of varied equipment and I used it daily. The temps were kept cold which is perfect! It was also tidy with towels and wipe off cloths. However, I did bring some issues to the managements attention. The big screen tv was unplugged. They fixed that. One of the treadmills is out of order. None of the cardio machine have TV integration working. I like the news on when walking. A scale would be a nice to have. This is a property that I will continue to use and recommend.

I travel 2-3x a month for my job so I typically stay at 4-5 star hotels but since this was a quick in and out we opted for a closer location and were expecting an economic stay. This hotel feels nicer than what they charge. It is brand new and so the bathrooms were totally spotless perfectly clean and very well appointed. The art in the rooms is minimal and the ac units are on the floor but other than that the rooms feel upscale. Beds were very comfy and there was no noise from other patrons or the airport nearby. I have been looking for somewhere to stay in Richmond and this might be my new pick! I loved my stay here.
