I rarely bother to write reviews related to my interactions with personnel at businesses I patronize. But I am doing so this time because while googling the physical address for The Orchard in Lafayette to get my new iPhone 7 Plus set up, I could not help but notice the dismal online ratings for the business. And because going to the Apple Store in Baton Rouge was not an option for me, I had no choice but to take the phone to The Orchard. So, I was pleasantly surprised and impressed at the pristine and gorgeous Apple Store clone, where several young and savvy technicians were manning sleek technology stations and animatedly assisting patrons, all the while conversing with them and obviously taking care of each person's needs. These young gurus made the place look like a happy microcosm of our world, as there were White, African American and Cajun male and females in the little group--all of them neatly dressed in the ubiquitous Apple uniform of jeans and black T-shirts, a la Steve Jobs. Granted, I had to wait about 20 minutes, but this was only because customers outnumbered the technicians. And then Stefan, the manager on duty, called me and began the chore of backing up my phone, transferring the SIM card to the new one and generally setting it up, none of which I knew how to do. He spent possibly in excess of one hour assisting me, all the while explaining each step, and making sure that I understood, so that if necessary I may perform the same chores myself. At one point, I asked Stefan the reason for the dismal online ratings given to The Orchard. He said that, at times, patrons give bad ratings because they are upset about chores the technicians are unable to perform onsite and for which their devices must be sent to Apple for repair, as well as for other reasons over which neither he nor the other technicians have control. So...because I was treated with such kindness and respect, as well as because all patrons there were obviously happy with their transactions, I decided to put my two cents worth: The Orchard is an excellent place to take one's Apple device for any reason, so please ignore the bad reviews and give Stefan and his colleagues a chance. Hallelujah! It works! This vintage woman brought her vintage MacBook Pro into The Orchard for an update to the operating system and an increase in the RAM. They listened carefully to what I wanted, offered options within my budget, and made it work! Then they took the time to help me figure out how to manage the improved system. Customer Service at The Orchard in Lafayette, La is Top Notch!! I brought my iMac in to be serviced and they were very professional and did an outstanding job. Their techs are all Apple Certified technicians which is a huge plus having this available in our city. The store was very neat and tidy and I was greeted as soon as I walked in the door. The Orchard is a great store and I highly recommend stopping by if you have any types of issues with your Apple devices. No matter what the issue is, the employees always work hard to figure out what is going on and resolve it for you, in a timely fashion.
