Best Chinese in the Parkville area. My husband and I have tried multiple Chinese places since moving to the county a year ago. The Chinese here does not disappoint and is similar to New York Chinese food. I always get the pork fried rice, general Tso chicken, and spare rib appetizer. My only complaint (not really a "complaint") is that the area that they offer delivery for is quite small. We live about two miles away from the restaurant, but they won't offer delivery to our residence. This place would be perfect if it could come to our door! Update 8/18/18: Just ordered from here for my husband and I. He ordered the House Egg Foo Young and I ordered pork fried rice and general tso chicken, with the request for the chicken to be spicy. I was reminded about how pricey this restaurant is. We were lunch for lunch portions of our meals and got enough to feed a family of six. The total came to $32 without tip. They threw in three cans of soda. I appreciate the "complimentary" soda, but $1.50 worth of soda does not make up for high prices. read more

This is a great place to eat lunch, dinner or sushi. The lunch special menu is even in effect during the weekends which is a pleasant surprise. The sushi is about the best you will find anywhere locally, if in fact you know what good sushi is. The wait staff is always super friendly and the parking is more than adequate. You should not leave hungry, but just in case there is a friendly's ice cream right next door. read more

we were looking for a new sushi place having recently moved to the area. The Orient had gotten some good reviews so we decided to give it a try. We sat at the sushi bar and waited what seemed like forever to be presented with a sushi list that had zero descriptions of what the rolls were. A waiter poured us water but didnt offer any other beverages.. no tea, no pop, no wine???? the sushi was also unremarkable. Not at all what we were expecting. We have been going to The Orient for years and have always enjoyed their friendly staff and pleasant atmosphere. Their sushi is delicious and their california roll is the best I have ever had. The serving sizes of the sushi and rolls are generous and the prices allow us to visit often and not only for a special occasion. If you are in the mood for Chinese food you won't be disappointed either, I have enjoyed everything I have ordered there. Tried this place for the first time... Not impressed. Gen. Tso chicken was just large chunks of soggy BBQ chicken. Not crispy at all. Website was just a phone number had to get the menu from a foody website. Sushi was flavorless. Got 3 packets of soy sauce for 3 large rolls and then wasabi and ginger were wrapped in a piece of celephane. Crab wontons were so rubbery that it was difficult to take a bite. Not that it matters but when obviously you ordered $40 of food it was not for one person but only got one fortune cookie. Disappointed for the amount paid and poor food.the orient read more

My high school class has ordered from this restaurant many times. Although the food is good, the service is terrible. When we were paying, they gave us the wrong total and when we asked for the receipt the deliverer refused to allow us to have a copy. The restaurant says that complimentary sodas with an order of an entree are included yet we did not receive any. It's fine, it's not worthy of some of these fawning 5 star reviews. Weirdly deserted with a creepy library vibe so bring a big group. The food is expected Chinese fare, which is great when that's what you want. Not much to write home about otherwise. Soda comes in a warm can, so don't get your heart set on a cold fountain Coke with that eggroll. While China Taste nearby has the same deserted feature, the food there tastes a little better. They also sat us right next to the kitchen despite it being a 99% empty restaurant. Maybe that made it easier for them but it sucked away what little ambiance there was to start with. read more

We love this place. I first found out about the Orient by visiting the one in Towson with co-workers. My husband and I found out they had three locations and the one in Perry Hall is closer to us. The wait staff are always very pleasant, the food comes out quick and it's good. I get the sesame tofu always, as I'm vegetarian and it's amazing. Their sesame sauce is wonderful. My husband and I have tried to find a similar sesame sauce EVERYWHERE - it doesn't exist. The best sesame sauce is here! Last night I tried the asparagus sushi roll - for $3.00, you cannot find a cheaper appetizer!! My husband tends to jump around and try new food more than I do and he has yet to be disappointed. Our favorite dishes are the Sesame chicken and pork fried dumplings. Both of these meals are best eaten in the restaurant as they lose some of their crispiness when boxed up for transport. My go to for Chinese food and Sushi in Perry Hall. They make great food and have done so for a decade. The only downside is the decor inside is really outdated, teal and pink curtains/table cloth from the 80's but you're not going here for looks and it's a clean spot so that's not an issue for me. I'm generally not a fan of Chinese food and I especially don't like the type that this place offers which is the 'Chinese food for Americans'. Place seems to have the same recipes as the old owners of China Taste so if you're into that then you'll be just fine with this place, however I prefer not to have my food taste like candy-corn-starchy-fried-gooey whatever so naturally I can't possibly give any points for their mostly typical run of the mill style Chinese food. Real disappointment is sushi bar as their sushi comes out warm. I. DO. NOT. WANT. WARM. SUSHI. Plus the sushi menu is laid out poorly and hard to find what you want. My daughter went to Orient for us tonight to get us dinner. This has been her favorite place for Chinese food. Well tonight the food was horrible. The egg foo young was tasteless and the gravy had no flavor and was like water. Fried rice was burnt. Shrimp in the lo mien was mushy and cold. Called them to complain as this was first time the food was bad here. The person on the phone didn't want to go anything and suggested we bring food back. My daughter took it back and was mistreated and yelled at. What a way to treat a young customer as this was her treat for us tonight!!! She was so upset that my husband called the Orient. We barely touched the food and he said we ate it all. He argued with my husband and wouldn't do anything about the horrible food. We will NEVER go back. It was a waste of money and the way they treat customers is horrible. Had to give 1 star in order to post review. They certainly didn't deserve it!!! read more

Very good for the price! The fish in the sushi was fresh and the general chicken was good. I almost never order a California roll but this was the biggest juiciest California roll I have ever tasted. Service was also good as our waitress was very nice and corrected our order when she made a mistake. Will come back if I am ever in Maryland again. read more

WORST sushi !! EVEN WORST, BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE. I ordered 2 rolls and asked the sushi chef to make it spicy. So he starts rolling his eyes and huffing and puffing saying they are not meant to be spicy. Really, like you cant squirt some hot sauce on it ?? So the RUDE MORON sprinkes something on it, wasnt even hot and charges me 50 cents extra per roll. I have never ever been changed extra for spicy. The sushi was so bland and they cant even make a decent philly roll. There was hardly any cream cheese on it. or salmon. And it was horrible. YUK. Avoid at all costs.
