The only reason this isnt 1 star review is because the food was ok. We were visiting on a weekend at 12:30. We weren't at a hibachi table. My husband asked for a gin and tonic. But there is no tonic water and our server couldn't offer any alternatives. Their beers were all flavorless pilsners or light beers. The plates are an interesting mix of heavy and large or flimsy and plastic. It made the meal strangely awkward. The food arrived and my husband asked for normal sodium soy sauce. We were told that all the green soy sauce bottles are filled with normal soy sauce. So they are either lying to us about everything being normal. Or they're lying to everyone else and refilling bottles that say low sodium with normal soy sauce. The server was below average and didn't clear anything from the awkward table. She was trying but was just not very good. There is a mandatory 18% gratuity that I asked to change given the service. I wouldn't normally punish a server for the restaurant's short comings but she was bad at her job. I was told their payment system couldn't do this. I asked to speak to a manager. No one would be in until 5pm. I am so glad I don't live near this place and have other options for Japanese food. I don't ever need to go back. This is my first review because I've never had a such a bad experience.

I ordered from the happy hour menu which has a pretty good selections of drinks and food. I settled on the kabuto peach drink ( some fruit drink with vodka) and the Pearl River roll ,Baltimore roll and Gyoza. The food came out quick and fresh. This might become my new Friday happy hour spot. You can't go wrong with sushi and drinks.

I got the Hawaiian Poke Sushi bowl and the Baked Scallop California roll to share. I'm used to being disappointed by the portions of poke bowls at sit-down restaurants, but this bowl did not disappoint. The bowl had a generous portion of tuna and everything was so fresh. For the scallop roll, there was a large baked scallop on each piece of sushi. I thought having something warm on sushi might be odd, but it was delicious! I'm still thinking about this meal and need to go back soon!

The ambiance is cute and cozy, but a bit stuffy, the person behind me kept hitting my chair lol. The food was mid. I would say I'm a pretty avid sushi eater, this place tries their best, but misses the mark. I enjoyed their appetizers, but actual sushi was bad. The rice is a bit undercooked and has an extra soft texture. It feels a bit too mushy, which feels unnatural. My friend ordered the avocado roll and that was not tasty at all. We asked if we can get it wrote off the bill or returned, but they said "no refund or exchanges!" lol. So we had to take this massive L for the mediocre sushi. That is all; see attached a photo.

They do have a happy hour on Monday to Friday from 4 PM to 6:30 PM. This includes certain rolls and appetizers, beer, wine, and cocktails. I had the lychee Saketini (HH $8), and it definitely had lychee flavor. It was a little lighter on the alcohol though. I also had a 22 oz. can of Sapporo premium beer, which was also on happy hour for $7.50. Both the bagel roll and California roll were $6 on happy hour as well. I highly recommend the Volcano Roll (HH $12), which had 6 pieces of salmon and tuna top with a spicy mayo and eel sauce. We initially sat outside, but once it started raining, they helped us bring everything inside. The hostess was very kind and our server was excellent. In terms of the ambiance, there is not much indoor and outdoor seating. It seems like they mainly do take out. Also, street parking can be limited.

After reading the reviews, we had to try them again. We were here before I began writing for Yelp,…read moreabout 4 years ago. Walking in, we saw a huge, clear plastic barrier side to side and most of the way to the ceiling, and i wondered why. It looks awful and is off-putting, which is what restaurants do not want. You order through a small gap in the plastic. I ordered the Japanese chicken noodle soup, and it arrived piping hot. After it cooled a bit, i tried the broth and IMO it lacked flavor. The chicken breast in it was very tender, and the baby boy Choi did not really seem to complement the soup. Also, I ordered a shrimp egg roll, yup, you guessed, right. It was all cabbage and 1 shrimp, only 1 of the tiniest shrimp I've ever seen and very greasy. It was disappointing. My husband ordered the shrimp and chicken on fried rice ( the man working there said this is their most popular dish). What arrived was only shrimp on the fried rice and no chicken. It was ok, a bit on the sweet side. Generous serving. Generally speaking, the menu is limited, and that is good when you can expect what they do being done well. I would much rather have it that way instead of a restaurant that has lots and lots, meaning quality vs. quantity. In this visit, the quality was off for my portion of the meal. Prices are reasonable for what you order. Service was really good and accommodating. They were very friendly.

The pink drink is the Open Kimono, the gochujang isn't overbearing but has a subtle flavor that really bright everything together. The Toki Monster had a piece of pork belly for the garnish and my partner also ordered the special mystery saki. He said it was unlike any other sake he's ever tasted in the best possible way. The only downside was that he forgot to ask again what it was called.

My total was $48 with automatic 18% gratuity for the duo combo of chicken and shrimp with noodles, vegetables, a salad, mushroom soup and fried rice. Portions were huge! I def have leftovers now for possibly another 2 days. I also got the Baltimore roll as well. Pricing was reasonable, $32 for the duo protein option. It wasn't crowded at all on this holiday weekend. Wait staff was very responsive and fast, although I did feel a bit rushed. They got our check to us as soon as he finished cooking the food, so I do wish they had waited. But then again they left us alone after that. They were able to split the check 3 ways which was nice. Our chef was very nice but i wish he did more for the performance part-- the chef across from us tossed the food into people's mouths and did the sake thing. The restaurant I went to in Owings mills did that as well. But he was still a great chef. Very clean, I liked the koi pound too in the front. Overall I would recommend, and I would go again!
