I bought a thick "orthopedic" mattress. I told the salesman that I could not buy that mattress because I had a bulging disc and needed support. He said that I could still buy that mattress even though it is thick because it would still support my back enough. It DID NOT provide enough support. It was too soft. I should have trusted my own instinct and never listened to the sales person. So I had to pay a lot of money to exchange the mattress because they, of course, have themselves covered legally. New mattress delivered Wednesday. Delivery service was excellent from covering their shoes to perfect setup giving us time to clean the carpet before placing the new mattress. Love it. Didn't realize how much better we could rest. Since it is a both sides king, Original Mattress for a small fee will come a flip it. I was very impressed with the store and their staff. The price was very good and we decided to search a little more. When all was said and done we went back to the Original Mattress Store and bought the mattress we needed and were given an even better price. Salesman Frank in Beavercreek promised a delivery date that was inconveniently changed twice. I understand now that he was acting in typical salesman fashion, promising what I wanted in order to get the sale but what would ultimately be determined by the delivery guys. The first time I got a call announcing the delivery the next day (a work weekday). I initially had a Saturday delivery as stated on my paperwork, but when they didn't show on that day I called and was told my delivery was scheduled for the following Wednesday. And although my invoice states that the movers "Move the old set to the basement ", I was told they couldn't move "stained" mattresses. Frank knew my set was a couple of decades old...what mattress that age wouldn't have some kind of discoloration? He mentioned nothing about them not being able to help with my old set. I was prepared to give the movers a nice tip but changed my mind after they refused to help with the old set and sensing that they just wanted to move on to the next delivery (even left without my signature on the delivery slip). How can you tell when a salesman is being honest? When what he's telling you agrees with your product research. Before going mattress shopping, I did research via my trusty Consumer Reports. Also, I consulted http://www.goodbeds.com for mattress brand satisfaction ratings. It's like Yelp for bedding. Here's what I learned: - Don't buy Serta, Sealy, or Simmons. All have complaints of sagging after the first couple of months. - Don't buy a one-sided pillowtop mattress, as it cannot be flipped. (Flipping a mattress semi-annually increases its lifespan.) - Quality mattresses cost between $700 and $1,200. - Look for a large quilt pattern on the fabric for the best cushioning - Ticking, the outermost layer, is typically polyester. Damask is used in high-end mattresses. - Look for a mattress that has a metal rod frame, not just foam around the edge. Foam edges = sagging. After some unsuccessful browsing at other stores, fellow Yelpers recommended we try an Original Mattress Factory. Salesman Greg greeted us as we walked in the store. One half of the store was divided into flippable mattresses, the other had the dreaded single-sided pillowtops. He led us over to the flip section, which was arranged from firm to soft. We started in the middle and moved down the line until we found the perfect comfort. Torn between two models, I pulled out my list of questions for Greg. "This is a double sided pillowtop. How does it hold up? Can it be flipped?" Greg pulled out a sample of the mattress which was cut open. He showed us the construction of the layers, and explained how the framework allowed both sides of the pillowtop to stay plush. I even got to reach in and push on the padded coils to feel his explanation. Greg also showed us the wire framework around the edge of our mattress, unlike the Serta, Sealy, and Simmons which had edges made of foam. The three "S" brands skimp on quality mattress construction to keep prices low, which leads to a sagging mattress. (Although my strong opposition to pillowtops, having one on each side of the mattress makes it flippable. If it was a single pillowtop, the reverse side would be flat.) The salesperson was very helpful and non-pushy, and the layout of the store is logical and simple. I was able to find what I wanted in about 20 minutes. Their warranty is excellent (12 year warranty, including if the mattress sags over 1.5 inches). Also, if you don't like a mattress or a size you can return it and purchase something different for a 25%-50% processing fee, and only pay the difference in price. Even though you don't get free exchanges, it is a rather good/cheap safety net if you find out you don't like something. Most importantly (to me) you know for sure you are never purchasing someone else's used mattress! Mattress prices range from a couple hundred to a couple thousand, with everything in between. They sell a couple of foam mattress types, standard style mattresses, double-sided pillow tops, etc, and include a diagram and email reminder system on how to flip the mattress to get the most wear out of them. Also, their mattresses come with springs in three strengths, "good, better, and best", so you can purchase something that will wear not-quite-as-well for less money, or if it has to take a lot of weight or last a long time, you can just buy the best ones. tl;dr They help you find cheap stuff if you want cheap and high quality stuff if you want high quality. The delivery was extremely prompt! They showed up 7 minutes into the 3-hour window in which they promised to arrive. The delivery people were also courteous and clean, and assembled the bed quickly (mattress and everything arrived in good shape, as well). read more

I bought a mattress at OMF about 2.5 years ago. It was one of their "top of the line" ORTHOPEDIC EUROTOP. I have a close friend who used to work there, so that was a major reason I trusted that I would get a good mattress at a good price. The salesman was really nice and informative and I thought I had made good purchase. For the first year and a half I loved the mattress and slept well on it. I have shoulder and back problems, so I need something supportive for my back, but soft enough so it doesn't put too much pressure on my shoulder (I am a side sleeper). After about year and a half, I started waking up with hip pain (had never had this before). I thought it might just be a new joint problem for me until my girlfriend started waking up with hip pain also. What has happened is the cheap foam in the mattress has lost its supportive capabilities and my hips are sinking too far into it now. OMF will replace the mattress if it gets a 1.5 inch rut in it, however the foam does expand back out when I am not on it (so the rut is not 1.5 inches), but, like I said, doesn't properly support my hips anymore. I have folded up a comforter and placed it where my hips are to give me more support and the hip pain is gone. It is not comfortable to sleep on, but I at least don't wake up with hip pain now. Note, I am 5' 10" 190 lbs, so it's not like I am a huge person.. I rotated the mattress weekly the whole time I had it, so that isn't the problem. It is the cheap foam they use. So now I am stuck with an expensive 2.5 year old mattress that has shown to be very poor quality. I have done a lot of research and decided to try an all natural latex foam mattress ordered off the internet. I have tried memory foam in the past, but it was way to hot for me. 100% natural latex foam is a lot more expensive, but a good mattress is very important to me. I want to wake up refreshed, not stiff and in pain. OMF sells latex mattresses but they are synthetic latex and I believe not 100% latex (I think they have other foam layers with a latex core). Plus, I would never trust the quality of their products after my experience with them. I am hoping this next mattress will be the right one for me. They provide 100 night trial with flat $100 return fee if I don't like it and want to return it, or $50 to do a comfort adjustment where they swap out the top layer of latex for a different firmness. I have done research and the latex foam is not supposed to break down over time like other foams. I have done a ton of research on this company and it has the best reviews I have ever seen. I would provide the company name, but that might make me look like a shill, plus I haven't really slept on it yet. Anyway, hope this helps. I don't usually write reviews but I have used them so much in my research, I thought I would try and give back. We arranged for a dely for a specific date, and everything went as arranged. The dely people called 15 min out, arrived on time, were clean and courteous, and set up our bed beautifully. We needed mattresses for a summer place and shopped at their store. After comparing other stores we called and ordered over the phone for a delivery that week. The salesman was easy to work with, knew his products and made it very simple to choose a cheaper mattress for guests. The delivery was completely accurate . The selection here may not be as extensive as some of the other chain mattress stores, but that doesn't mean the quality suffers! And the customer service is above and beyond what Ive gotten at some of the chain stores. I was easily able to find a comfortable mattress in my price range, and scheduled delivery without difficulty. After the mattress was delivered and the delivery guys left, I noticed a tear on one of the corners (lesson to me to really inspect the mattress carefully before they ask you to sign that it's in good condition!). I called and told them the problem and Ellie was fantastic and able to get a sales rep out to me to look at the damages the same day (a Saturday no less). The sales rep was great and worked with my schedule to have the bed picked up, the cover changed, and back to me all within 5 days of the initial call, and at no additional charge. I requested it in the morning and it supposedly is coming in the late afternoon when no one is home. So I'm telling them to come anyway, making it inefficient for them. Don't buy from there. Don't waste your money!!! We saved and even borrowed money from 401k to purchase a new mattress. We have a king so they recommended 2 twin beds. We ended up choosing the highest model they had. Not even 2 years later, both mattresses sag in the middle. No matter how much flipping/twisting/turning like they recommend, the middles still sag. I wake up in the mornings with back aches, stiff neck, and pain in my shoulder blades that shoots down my arm. While telling a co-worker that I was very unhappy with the mattresses, she said she also has the same problem. She even went as far as returning the mattress. But they sent it back to her and said there was no problem with it. I wouldn't recommend The Original Mattress Factory mattress, nor will I return there. We're already looking to replace these. read more
