Stopped by on a weekday morning and there was no wait. The place has a cheerful, slice-of-Americana feel with decorative plates displayed high along the walls. Service was very friendly. The menu is huge, with a lot of interesting, slightly retro offerings. I went with the sausage patties with scrambled eggs and 3 buttermilk pancakes. My breakfast companion went with Eggs Benedict with hashbrowns. We shared a side of corned beef hash. We asked if we could have sausages on the Eggs Benedict instead of the Canadian bacon and, after checking with the kitchen, the waitress said it was just fine. The food was all delicious, with the eggs rich and buttery, the sausage patties huge and tasty and the pancakes excellent. The Eggs Benedict was decadent and flavorful, and the hashbrowns yummy as well. The corned beef hash was yummy and had a nostalgic flavor. The portions were huge, and we got two more breakfast servings this next morning. This place isn't cheap, but super fun for a special morning treat. read more

I've been coming here for over 30 years. The food and service is consistently good to above average for breakfast food. Parking is plentiful. The grounds are well manicured and restrooms clean. Downside, extremely expensive for basic breakfast food. More than $20 for an omelette now. $16 for an Eggs Benedict with no sides. $12 for granola. The location has homeless people walking around the sidewalk and in the parking lot. This is unfortunate. My days of stopping by when I'm in town is probably coming to an end. If you want a good home cooked breakfast and money is no object, you will be satisfied. read more

Warm and inviting restaurant with friendly staff, and spotlessly clean. Husband had the potato pancakes which he said were the best he'd ever had. And there were 8 of them! I had the Swedish pancakes with the lingonberry preserves - don't tell my aunt, but they too were fantastic. And three plate-sized pancakes. Link sausage was also a winner. I see some people have complained about the prices. Given the size of the servings, I think they're quite reasonable. Next time we might split an order though! This was my daughters and my time coming to The Original Pancake House. The restaurant is very clean and well maintained. Our server Noelle was very nice and took good care of care of us. We ordered the Pumpkin Spice Pancakes and a half serve of biscuits and gravy (at the waitresses recommendation) the portions were large and the food was very good. The only down side and the reason for the 4 stars is that it is pretty pricey. 2 meals and 2 drinks were a little over 40 dollars. Nice little breakfast spot away from downtown. Seems like the place the locals go to for a good family breakfast. Definitely a bit on the pricey side but the food was good. Best breakfast ever ! We just happened to see a sign on the freeway for this wonderful restaurant ? We exited the next exit and found the place. The hostess was very welcoming and led us to our table. Got us some coffee and had the server come take our order, our server was great and we're we're so amazed at their selection or pancakes etc. We have a ESA teacup poodle in a carrier and they were happy to meet him ! My hollandaise was just a cream sauce, the pancakes were fine except for the lingonberry sauce with the tip it was 40 bucks. Good Day Yelpies !!!! This is definitely a favorite for my daughter and her husband. When she mentioned it yesterday her excitement level was so high I decided to take the family out to give it a try. (I've eaten at the Eugene location and they have always been on point) Let's start off with proper planning... It's Father's Day and the wait was expected. 1 hour then the buzzer went off. The person working the front looked at my daughter and pointed towards an empty table and said yeah your table is over there. I thought for sure if this is how it's starting off it's going to be a very interesting experience. Within 5 min a waitress came out with menus and the rest was breakfast bliss. Understand I've been in the food and beverage industry for 27 years so I don't judge quickly because we can't begin to understand what it takes to get a team of people together to wait on others for food. Worth the 15 minute wait!!! We found this location to be super Friendly , welcoming and super clean! The food we ordered - eggs, bacon, waffle and extra crispy hash browns were made exactly as we requested. Hot, fresh and super delish!!! Sarah made us feel like family only better and Aleatha was attentive and kept us loaded with hot , freshly brewed coffee! We call this place our go to for breakfast/ brunch!!! This is my first posting on Yelp. I am very shocked by what I got for what I spent for $21.25. I got a ham and cheese omelette. It was big fluffy. Tasty nice but all it came with three small 5 inch diameter, buttermilk pancakes. Social distancing nightmare leads to great intimate dinning experience I thought C19 was behind us and we were getting back to normal. When we arrived I noticed that the staff were very cautious and maybe too much in my opinion. Everyone must wait outside and use an outdoor sign in system. Our group of 14 felt like we had our own restaurant and were treated very well by the employees. Everyone had fun and the mood was set as we reviewed the menu. I ordered the Original Joe and was not disappointed. The meat used was flavored so nicely and it was filling but not heavy which was perfect as I had a long drive ahead of me. The omelette dish was AMAZING and big and fluffy and most importantly, DELISH!! I wish I would have ordered one. Everyone in our group (only 2 of us did not order omelets) did their best finish them but they were so filling, and oh yeah, BIG!! If I could give zero stars I would. I went in this morning for my birthday. First we had to seat ourselves, then I had to ask six different servers to grab a high chair. Tom the server decided to walk away from our table as my friend was asking for coffee. Then about ten minutes pass by and not a single server came by to help us. So we get up to leave and pay for the two coffees and Tom very hastily tells me to just leave its fine. Then as I'm leaving I notice that they are magically 'please wait to be seated' The whole place is very judgmental and your typical place you'd expect old white ppl to hang out at and rant about the youth Now I don't know if this was bc of how I was dressed. Which doesn't really matter, I'm in jeans and tank top. Maybe it was the pentacle earrings that made them be mean towards their customers but I will not go back to either location. read more

My favorite go to is their French toast with seasonal strawberries & a cup of cocoa. They are in high demand so there is often a wait but worth it. They were accommodating to allergies. But limited with what they could do. They have gf pancakes but no designated gf area so they are considered gluten friendly. The food itself was fantastic and huge portions when you order a pancake dish. The butter they make is whipped cream butter and to die for. The best strawberry and whipped cream pancakes in town. The kids meal options are the perfect portions and satisfying. Well, it has been 26-months, just an update -- The Original Pancake House is STILL, IMHO, consistency the best American Pancake House. I have nothing but respect and admiration for the Servers (friendliness, service, appearance), the food (delicious), the buildings, the landscape, the cleanliness of the kitchen (it sparkles!) and of the restrooms. Today, we enjoyed the Specialty of the House -- The Apple Pancake! Oven baked pancake with Granny Smith apples with cinnamon glaze ($13.50). Very good, too big to finish. Perfect for sharing. Remember, it takes extra time to prepare, (we waited about 15-minutes), but your patience will be will rewarded! We also had a Ham and Cheese Omelette. This is one VERY fluffy omelette, filled with ham and cheddar cheese ($12.00). The only downside is the wait to get in. We usually go to the South Commercial location in Salem after 1pm, when the line is much shorter. Five Stars, and the South Salem location deserves more. read more
