Homemade Biscuits & Sausage Gravy - Half (570 Calories)

This was my daughters and my time coming to The Original Pancake House. The restaurant is very clean and well maintained. Our server Noelle was very nice and took good care of care of us. We ordered the Pumpkin Spice Pancakes and a half serve of biscuits and gravy (at the waitresses recommendation) the portions were large and the food was very good. The only down side and the reason for the 4 stars is that it is pretty pricey. 2 meals and 2 drinks were a little over 40 dollars. Would definitely recommend as long as you're aware of the price point.

Nice little breakfast spot away from downtown. Seems like the place the locals go to for a good family breakfast. Definitely a bit on the pricey side but the food was good. I got an omelette and it was massive. Plus it came with pancakes. Definitely could have split it. The waffles came with a mountain of fruit.

When: Monday April 29th; Party of 2 Adults, 10:45 am Service: Our server Sarah, was an absolute Gem, she was cheerful, friendly and professional. She took our order promptly and our order turnaround was super quick. All in all, the whole staff in general seem to be upbeat, on this Monday, greeting returning customers by name and enthusiastically guiding 1st timers to an empty booth or table. Ambiance: On this occasion, the eatery was tidy and well kept. Tables were quickly cleaned and readied for the next diner. The decor here is that country home or farmhouse feel. Food: My wife and I are big fans of Original Pancake House, not only the two in Salem, but pretty much wherever our travels takes us. On this occasion, my wife and I had our usual items ordered at OPH. That is, I ordered the Irish Omelet with Hash Browns and my wife ordered the French Toast. My Irish Omelet was fluffy and tasty, while my wife's French Toast was light and heavenly delicious.

Best gluten free pancakes ever! Friendly staff and great service. Though it can be quite a wait on a weekend morning.

The food is not worth the high prices. The coffee is not great. I wish the service was faster but it was okay I guess.

Always enjoy a German baby pancake here. Very popular, so expect to wait. Like that we got a pot of coffee left on our table for refills.

One meal was enough to feed me all day, and the Spanish coffee I got was mixed perfectly. Seats are extremely limited, but the service was super fast so even with a full plate you get in and out comfortably in under an hour. Other reviews mention rude service staff, but my experience was the total opposite. I wish I could've gotten her name to give her a shout-out. :) I do have to mention the lack of parking. There were still empty tables when the parking lot was already completely full. There were maybe eight parking spots altogether, but that would be my only complaint.

Oh my gosh I don't know where to start! Everything I ordered was a solid 10/10 & that doesn't…read morehappen too often LOL. Started out with the giant tower of whip cream'd hot chocolate! House made of course so it's even better than the store bought stuff in my opinion because it tastes like actual chocolate. I ordered the filet minion chicken fried steak and it was cooked to perfection. So juicy inside and crispy but not like overly cooked crispy on the outside! Topped with a hot gooey layer of house made sausage gravy. The overall size of this steak was about as big as my face. To complement this enormous steak was eggs, a biscuit & some smashed Yukon potatoes..like they were literally small potatoes they just smashed which was really different to me because I've never seen that before. I also had to order the infamous cinnamon roll pancake I been seeing floating around on other people's reviews. IT IS A MUST.. and if you are ordering it to take home make sure you have a piece of it while it's still hot and fresh because that was to die for. I won't go more into detail about it you just have to try it. It will speak for its self. Overall the dinning experience was great! Servers were more than happy to get you whatever you need. We sat at the bar so y'all should try their drinks because they looked so good and the bartenders looked like they were having fun making them. The restaurant is a literal house and while charming it is small and packed inside and the parking lot is also really small so you may need to get there early or expect to park somewhere else in the streets. We got there an hour after they opened and it was only a 30 minute wait thankfully. Will be coming back again to try other menu items!

Here's what you need to know about The Original Pancake House on Portland Road NE in Salem:…read more 1. This is a company-owned location. They use the original recipes and quality ingredients for all pancakes and waffles. In my opinion, their quality and taste shows... and is well worth it. 2. No wait on a weekday morning around 11:30 a.m. Weekends, however are another matter! The wait is worth it 3. I can vouch for the Dutch Baby, French Crepes, Cherry Kijafa Crepes and Pumpkin Pancakes. These are my favorites along their egg specialties. These are my absolute favorites. 4. My waitress today was friendly, personable and responsive. What more can one ask for? 5. The ambiance? Classic American family-style diner. 6. While the price might be a bit higher than what you are used to, remember that inflation includes the cost of ingredients and everything else that goes into running a restaurant business. This place is worth it.
