I read the other review from 2010 BUT I had a different experience. Maybe over the four year time span this Company improved? For many years during the Holiday Season, we would order Texas Manor Fruit Cake. All was great and very filling depending upon how large you sliced it. Then we lost track where this fruit cake brand was sold. I did a search and found the YA-HOO Baking Company was producing this cake under the same name with the same taste. Since I realized this cake was filling, I ordered the 1 Pound, 12 ounce fruit cake sliced and wrapped. There was something like 24 sealed slices. Very easy to unwrap and enjoy knowing the other slices will remain fresh. If you enjoy fruit cake, I highly recommend the Texas Manor Fruit Cake. My brother sent this for Christmas last year. I would rather of had socks, underwear, a gift card to Walmart. Really, I am not a sweets person, but, do enjoy an exceptional treat! It was dry, and a shame that someone would send something, hoping it would be a delight. I didn't tell him how actually horrible it was. We threw it away. I hope anyone planning to buy this for someone, buys a gift card instead. The glaze was ok, but, like I said I am not a sweets person. The pull apart cinnamon roll was dry and rather a pain, to put together for VERY disappointing results. Who would want to eat a dry cinnamon roll??? I am writing to spare someone else. I would order this for someone you hate but have to give a gift. There, you have your one star. The wrap and presentation were 5 star. I had great hopes!! I hope that s not how my brother felt!!! I've ordered Texas Manor from them for several years. Each year the availability of the fruitcakes was worse and worse. I called today and learned no Texas Manor by Thanksgiving and no estimated ship date after that. Customer service seems to have disappeared from the company and they are not concerned if they meet the needs of the customers that would like Texas Manor. An alternative I found is Claxton Fruitcake in Georgia. I've never had them but one cake they list seems it may be similar to Texas Manor. If nothing else they are in stock - something Yahoo can't supply! So I'm going to Yahoo to Georgia cause Texas can't bring it home!! read more

Last year I ordered two sliced, wrapped fruitcakes in November, as my 91-year-old mother used to like these. Also, I ordered a fruitcake to be sent to a relative in another city. I saw that my credit card was charged, but received no fruitcakes, not even after New Year's. When I called them, I had to insist that I paid for these and I would like to get them or get my money back. Also, I got suspicious that my relative never received theirs. After asking them, they said they got it, but thought it was some kind of promotional, as there was no "from" or "to" on it. Hmm...I like fruitcake, but turns out there's other good delivery places that I will try, like Collin Street Bakery from near Dallas, Texas. Too bad, Ya-hoo. It's been 40 years since I had a Texas manor fruitcake. We sold them in the 70's as fundraisers for our high school. I located Ya-Hoo baking online and ordered 4 cakes for myself and former classmates. They were ordered on dec 5 before their Christmas deadline and was charged a whopping $27.00 for shipping the small cakes. It took 2 weeks for them to even ship the items. Today is Dec 24th and still no fruitcakes. Terrible customer service. now these fruitcakes won't arrive until after Christmas. read more

We have ordered Texas Manor fruitcakes since the days when they were an independent bakery in Corsica, TX. Yahoo Bakery took over the name several years ago, but the fruitcakes have been harder and herder to order. This year I ordered again but received the Yahoo cakes loaves instead, and they arrived late (ordered four weeks ahead). A nice web page but a terrible company to buy from. I went to their website and ordered some cookies to bring on our Christmas travel. Order went right through, but a week later nothing. I called was told "Gosh I don't understand what happened, I will check and call you back. No call two days later I call and talk to a different agent, "Let me check, oh here it is it will ship tomorrow" All this time I keep looking at my order on their website and it just shows "PROCESSING". I wait two days and call again, new story "It shipped yesterday" I ask for a TRACKING NUMBER, but am told that takes a day or two to get. Meanwhile my order on their website is still "PROCESSING". Now over two weeks after ordering a simple box of cookies my order is still processing. I will go to Kroger and buy some cookies, should take about 15 minutes. read more

I too have loved Texas Manor Fruitcakes since the 1970s. This year when I ordered I didn't realize their website wasn't working right and thought I ordered Texas Manor loaves. I got the Yahoo Fruit Cake loves. When I called them I got some woman who did nothing but take my name & ph #. I told her the website wasn't working and I noticed today they fixed it. Surprise! The Texas Manor Loaves aren't available. I'm going to try emailing them today asking that they send me a large fruitcke. I am NOT sending these back. If they can't make me happy, I'm done with them forever. Going to try to make my own. EDIT - I emailed them and asked to be sent a larger more expensive Texas Manor Fruitcake with the individually wrapped slices. After reviewing the web site and seeing that several of the bakery items were on sale, we drove to Sherman to make our purchases. Bought a sliced fruit cake which was excellent and a small carrot cake which need to be refrigerated. It too was very good. We had eaten a choculate cake from the bakery a couple of years ago and were disappointed to learn that cake is o longer being made. The retail section open to the public had serval items for sale but nto nearly all the items found in the catalog. The clerk at the store was friendly and helpful. We even ask for assistance to get to a restaurant and she took the time to get us routed to that location. read more

Ordered the Texas cake for Christmas dinner to treat out-of-state guests on Dec 17th for Dec 22nd delivery date. No order confirmation was received and no cake delivered. Delivery was one week later when the cake was of no use to me. Wrote repeated emails explaining the problem and asking at least for an apology. Nothing. To make matters worse, the cake was not even good. Too many large cherries and not enough chocolate chips and pecans. This was $38 completely wasted and I'm ashamed that a Texas company doesn't care about its reputation or its customers. read more

I ordered a Fruitcake the week of Dec. 7-12 2014 They said they shipped it on the 12th and it still has not been delivered. I called and they said they need to find the green slip and would call back. I called again and they said that Molly was working late that nite and she would call me. No phone call and its Friday nite at 4:30 pm pst and still no call. We've ordered Yahoo cakes for over 20 years, many times as gifts,and always loved them...until this year. In November, I ordered 3 cakes, one to go out of state and the other 2 to be delivered to my home. All arrived in a timely fashion. The only problem was that one of the 2 delivered to my home was the wrong item. In early December, I began a series of 5 contacts in an attempt to correct the problem. Responses as follows: (1) CS representative: so sorry, will have to contact supervisor on Monday. (2) supervisor on Monday: will correct immediately. Didn't happen. (3) CS rep a few days later: Cake is in transit, tracking # with USPS given to me. USPS website had no record of that number. (4) email contact explaining the situation at that point: no response. (5) CS rep last week: will look into the problem and definitely contact me before close of business that day. Didn't happen. It's now Christmas day, and I'm still without the gift that I ordered in November. What a sad thing to see a business that we've loved for so long go downhill on customer service. read more

The products are great BUT THE SERVICE AND DELIVERY IS AWFUL!!! Don't count on these folks to meet their delivery deadlines. I ordered a cake on 12/4/14 to be delivered by 12/15/14. By 12/23/14, it still hadn't arrived. In the meantime, no notification was sent from Ya-Hoo! Baking Company that my delivery was running late, and when I emailed the Customer Service department, two hours later I got an email message saying my delivery was delayed (but the order number and other key information specific to my order was missing in the message; it was a blank form letter). Telling me 8 days late that their delivery was delayed, and only after I notified them there could be a problem? And no fruitcake arrived in time for our Christmas gathering! And not the slightest hint of an apology after that? Not a good way to win and keep customers! I should have been tipped off earlier when I tried to first order around Thanksgiving of this year; their own website showed many popular items were out of stock - there may be an underlying problem within the business they are not sharing with the public. There weren't problems like this a couple of years ago when I ordered from them. I like the fruitcake but service nightmares like this prevent me from recommending them to anyone. read more

I have been ordering Texas Yahoo Cakes every year as Christmas gifts since the late '70s, always 10 or so each year. Last year was the first time I had a problem. My first order for 10 cakes was done of 11/20/14. More were ordered over a period between 11/24 and 12/23 for a total of 15 cakes. To make a long story short, a few arrived just before Christmas, a few more arrived between Christmas and New Year's and some didn't arrive until after the New year. So much for Christmas gifts. This year they have rejected my order (always TY-30 @$46.25 each) because they aren't sure they can produce the cakes at all and therefore can't guarantee a delivery date. It's just as well. Last year was a nightmare. What kind of amateur business are they running now? I'm very glad to be done with them. My friends will miss the cakes because they were very good but I don't miss the ulcers. read more

We made the pilgrimage to Sherman several years in a row to make our purchases. A few years ago the onsite store was out of stock of everything we wanted to purchase. We returned home empty handed and place a telephone order. We were pleased to receive the Ya-Hoo Cakes before Christmas. Hooties seemed to be in short supply that year and arrived later. This year we decided to beat the rush and placed our order before November 24th thinking this would allow enough time to receive our traditional Christmas Breakfast before Christmas. We received several e-mail notices that some items were backordered but reasoned that Christmas was still weeks away and everything would be fine. A week ago we received a phone call that our shipment was being packed but there was in problem with the credit card. It seems the expiration date was not correct on the order. This was corrected and we were promised we would have our order by Christmas. We received some of the order late last week. [late in the week before Christmas] As Christmas was fast approaching we called Monday [before Christmas] to see where the Original Yahoo Cakes were. We were told that a large company had just purchased all the Ya-Hoo Cakes and that a loyal 30+ year customer whose order had been in the system for many weeks would not receive the Original Ya-Hoo Cakes they ordered. This is no way to run a Company. This is the kind of customer disservice that has encouraged us to start a new tradition next Christmas. We and the other members of our extended family will find other bakeries to supply our holiday needs. We WILL NOT BE PURCHASING ANYTHING from Ya-Hoo Baking Company again. We will tell everyone we know how we have been treated. Our Christmas Breakfast will be a shadow of its former self. My family has ordered Texas Manor fruitcakes for as long as I can remember. They are a part of our Christmas tradition. I kept crayons in the leftover tins as a child. We love them and I DON'T want to give a bad review. However, for the past several years now, our fruitcakes have not arrived in time for Christmas even though I order them just after Thanksgiving. It has been a real disappointment, and I am not at all satisfied when I receive shipment tracking notifications that state they will be even further delayed. We love the cakes, but are not at all impressed by customer service in recent years. It's pretty bad when I receive another catalog in the mail when my fruitcakes haven't even arrived! I've sent several emails asking for information that have not been returned. When I've called the person who answered only asked for my name and number and said someone who call back. I bought the Cinnamon Streusel Coffee Cake and had it sent to me to try before I bought it for my family and friends. I like to do business with local companies, but I am done with this one. I like fruit cakes, and theirs are decent. I have ordered from them several times, but invariably they manage to mess up my order. I made the mistake of ordering from them again this year, and had the same results. They had a free shipping promotion, and I got the order confirmation with free shipping noted. Fortunately I checked my credit card, and noticed they had charged me for shipping anyway, 7 times by UPS. They also sent my cakes out over three weeks early, despite explicit written instructions to do otherwise. I have tried to contact them, and have gotten no response. I blame myself for ordering from them again, but wanted to warn others what to expect. If you are looking for a decent, not great, cake, and you don't mind rolling the dice, you may come out okay. Otherwise I recommend going elsewhere. I give them one star, only on the basis that the cakes are decent. Edit: Oops, I forgot to mention that they did the same thing to my wife's orders this year.
