Stopped there after work and was able to grab a chicken finger basket before the fryer shutdown for the night. Pretty decent and would like to stop for lunch sometime. Let me be absolutely clear: this place might as well hang a sign out front that says "Whites Only." The energy, the glares, the outright hostility -- all of it screams you're not welcome here. If you're Black, do yourself a favor and stay far, far away. From the moment I walked in, every face turned toward me like I had just crashed their family reunion -- the Brady Bunch and their extended Confederate cousins all rolled into one. The tension in that room was suffocating. Then came the so-called bartender -- a bitter, worn-down, nasty woman with the personality of a cold ashtray. She went out of her way to make me feel invisible and unwanted, acting like my presence alone ruined her day. She didn't serve with attitude; she served disrespect. And just when I thought the encounter couldn't possibly get worse, this miserable, wrinkled clown had the audacity to bark "Don't come back!" as I was leaving. That's fine -- trust me, I WON'T. But they need to know this: word travels fast, and people deserve to know exactly what kind of hateful establishment this is. -A Black Guy

The bar is a bit cramped at times but luckily they had a good amount of tables. During Happy Hour the day I was there (Saturday) the well drinks are $2.50 I couldn't believe it. The margarita was $7 all day and mine was nice and tasty. The clientele there could be a bit immature and annoying, I hope they're good at spotting fake IDs. there were a few chicks next to me and my girlfriend at the bar and they kept talking (yelling) to each other and discussing loudly about, some inappropriate things that a drinking college girl would discuss. The bartender was great, attentive and definitely knows how to make drinks. I couldn't speak on the food as I only got drinks but I was really regretting not ordering that $2 grilled cheese. I'd recommend this bar to anyone looking for cheap drinks or food in the area, especially if going to York College.

Front bar is good for sitting around with a few friends and talking while the back bar is for dancing. Biggest downfall-- Still allows SMOKING! Be prepared to set aside clothing you don't want to wear anywhere else outside the bar, because leaving Murph's you smell like a smokestack. Best quality-- You come to know everyone there on Saturday nights (And Wednesday's for 50 cent drafts, which if rumor is correct is now 75 cent drafts. Shame)

The bartenders are always friendly and the service is quick . The music is usually a sort of open mike night, but you will usually find the same musician(s) there every time. Aside from the main bar room, there is an additional area in the back to dine in a bit more privacy. The menu selections and drinks are overpriced. The food is okay, nothing spectacular, my favorite item is the red bean hummus. If your looking for a casual night out downtown First Cap is a good pick.

I can see how a first timer can see it as being a bit chaotic, but don't let that stop you- ask anyone at the bar for help and they'll flag the bartenders for you. Live music via a great group of local musicians on Monday and a variety of acts the rest of the week. I hear the burgers are great, too.

Great ambiance with a full bar and restaurant but some quiet areas for family's to enjoy. We were seated and despite the busy atmosphere, the service was pretty quick and accurate. I had a peach ring fishbowl that was delicious and well-balanced. Last Sunday, my husband and I were driving home to Baltimore from the Finger Lakes when a World Cup…read moregame we were invested in was close and exciting. We were just outside York, so we decided to stop in town to watch the end of the game. I think I searched "sports bar" or "bar with TV" on Yelp and found White Rose. We found street parking nearby (it was a Sunday afternoon) and wandered in. We found two seats at the bar and sat down. Now, we really didn't need much: a TV playing the World Cup, a few beers, and some friendly service. We almost got all three at White Rose. Their beer selection was very standard for sports bar, and we ordered a couple (I had a PBR). The service at the bar was friendly and fast. Unfortunately, it was the TVs themselves that gave us problems. They have two in the bar area and both were playing the World Cup. So the problem? This was new for me, but both of the TVs had incredibly obstructed views even when seated at the bar. (This was even after a woman sitting at the bar who wasn't watching the game offered to move seats with us so we could try to have a better view. She saw us struggling.) The one on the wall behind the bar was the obvious one to watch. Unfortunately, at least 4 or 5 seats at the end of the bar can't see that TV around the enormous wine glass rack that hangs from the ceiling to the right of the TV. I could see maybe half of that TV. There was another TV hanging from the ceiling over some tables to the left. I could see about a half of that TV too, because they have - inexplicably - light fixtures that hang from the ceiling in front of the TV. We were craning our necks in the weirdest ways and basically staring right above the guy's head sitting next to us (I think he might have thought we were staring at him). I can't speak to the food or any drinks other than standard beers, but I can say that the obstructed TVs make it a place I would not return again for the purpose of watching a sports event. Granted, they were busy, and we didn't have our choice of seats, and it might be a great bar to just hang out at. But as a sports bar, it was a complete flop for me.

The server did a great job with making sure that our drinks were filled, and we had to go boxes and brought our food out in a timely manner. Some of the appetizer choices were the calamari, fried kale and crab claw lollipops. All three were absolutely outstanding, and the portions were large. For dinner, our choices are rockfish, lobster, mac & cheese, filet mignon, or grilled chicken green curry. Again, the portion sizes were large and everyone enjoyed their meals. We were able to choose from a flourless chocolate torte or cheesecake. I forgot to mention that the Caesar salad was so fresh and the dressing was outstanding. I would like to come back and experience the restaurant and their entire menu. The upstairs had a fun, urban feel with a fireplace and a cool bar. We felt comfortable and it was a fun vibe.

You see, back in 17th century England, private houses would open their homes to the public and sell food and beer. Hence, public house. Over time, they dropped the "lic house" and just called them pubs. Because you never dropped the "lic house" makes me think that you haven't evolved like you should have. And frankly, your food is proof. In fact, it even made me nostalgic. But not in the way you might think. You see, I loved making fun food concoctions when I was a kid. My sister and I would watch this corny show called "Zoom" on Maryland public television, where the kid hosts would make recipes sent in from all over the country. We'd make homemade peanut butter cups using Jif and semisweet chocolate chips. Or weird sandwich combinations like pickles and potato chips and cheese and jelly. The seafood egg rolls weren't the worst part of my meal, but they were definitely sophomoric--as if a kid chef-in-training was asked to whip something up from Chinese food leftovers. Seafood should never taste fishy, yet these did. One bite hit me like something that had been sitting a little too long above the waterline. Not to mention, they were laying on a greasy glob of some mayonnaise accompaniment disguised as a fancy garnish you'd see on MasterChef. One word: Ick. The ahi tacos. Oh boy. My mind fills with seawater the moment I think of them because they tasted as if they had been fished right out of the ocean and then placed on my plate. They were wet. Soaked. Drenched. The gelatinous seaweed clump on each taco wasn't culinary-forward, just unappetizing. I took one bite and wished I could spit it back out, but I reluctantly swallowed it. My esophagus is now aquaphobic thanks to you. The moment the coconut jasmine rice hit my mouth, my tastebuds took the red eye to the coconut tree haven of the Maldives. Normally, this wouldn't be a bad thing, but the rice and coconut had no cohesion. It tasted like my younger self dumping a handful of shredded coconut--the sweetened kind my mom kept in the pantry for the wool on her Easter-shaped lamb cake--into a cup of microwaveable rice. The only redeeming aspect of our meal was your kind, charismatic waiter. He was lovely in every way--attentive, sweet, and helpful. He would have been an incredible host on "Zoom." If only his personality made the food taste better. For your sake, I hope you learn to evolve your kitchen's offerings beyond the amateurish trio I experienced. If not, your restaurant's bones may end up fossilized alongside every other place that couldn't adapt.
