Great ambiance with a full bar and restaurant but some quiet areas for family's to enjoy. We were seated and despite the busy atmosphere, the service was pretty quick and accurate. I had a peach ring fishbowl that was delicious and well-balanced. I had a BLT wrap with house made chips and though tasty, I was a little disappointed with the portion size as it was a bit smaller than expected. Mmmm mmm! This place was good, if not, decent! I visited a pen shop in York and this was nearby and the food looked delicious so why not?!? As soon as we stepped in, we were greeted. We went for lunch and it was not very busy so that was nice. We asked if we could eat outside and we were able to nab a seat there. We were seated a high table which was cool because we had a clear view of the street but was able to maintain staying in our little food bubble. When it came to order, we ended up ordering the Loaded Nachos for an appetizer and I ordered the Chicken Chesapeake with a baked potato and onion rings. I did order a drink but for the life of me, I can't remember which one. Please blame my foodie mind! (Haha!) The Loaded Nachos were good filled with white cheddar cheese sauce, tomato, jalapeno, black beans salsa, sour cream and chicken. It was good and the chicken was nicely seasoned and succulent. It was not chewy which is sometimes how chicken or any meat can be especially, when added to an appetizer like nachos. Unfortunately, I think that my biggest disappointment of this lunch was the Chicken Chesapeake. It came with a chicken breast, a 5 oz jumbo lump crab cake and mornay sauce. The chicken breast was just okay, it tasted bland as I think that maybe a little bit of salt and pepper could have helped. The jumbo lump crab cake was....okay, it was topped with the mornay sauce that was very tasty but the crab cake itself just fell apart. I didn't feel as though there was any structure to it and that with the amount of sauce on the crab cake and then the crab cake being too tender that it just falls apart...it wasn't a good mix. It felt like the crab cake was swimming in the sauce at the end, unfortunately. The mornay sauce tasted great with the mixture of cheeses so I really appreciated that. Besides the mornay sauce, the onion rings were another big favorite of mine. They were perfectly seasoned and crispy. I really liked the batter on the onion rings as I think it was executed perfectly and they helped to save the rest of the dish. Altogether, I'd enjoyed my experience at this restaurant. While one dish was lacking, the appetizer and my drink weren't. The prices were alright, a little steep but nothing I couldn't handle. The customer service was also really good as our waiter was kind and helped us with whatever we needed. If I'm ever back in the area, I would definitely come back again to try other things off the menu. read more

Last Sunday, my husband and I were driving home to Baltimore from the Finger Lakes when a World Cup game we were invested in was close and exciting. We were just outside York, so we decided to stop in town to watch the end of the game. I think I searched "sports bar" or "bar with TV" on Yelp and found White Rose. We found street parking nearby (it was a Sunday afternoon) and wandered in. We found two seats at the bar and sat down. Now, we really didn't need much: a TV playing the World Cup, a few beers, and some friendly service. We almost got all three at White Rose. Their beer selection was very standard for sports bar, and we ordered a couple (I had a PBR). The service at the bar was friendly and fast. Unfortunately, it was the TVs themselves that gave us problems. They have two in the bar area and both were playing the World Cup. So the problem? This was new for me, but both of the TVs had incredibly obstructed views even when seated at the bar. (This was even after a woman sitting at the bar who wasn't watching the game offered to move seats with us so we could try to have a better view. She saw us struggling.) The one on the wall behind the bar was the obvious one to watch. Unfortunately, at least 4 or 5 seats at the end of the bar can't see that TV around the enormous wine glass rack that hangs from the ceiling to the right of the TV. I could see maybe half of that TV. There was another TV hanging from the ceiling over some tables to the left. I could see about a half of that TV too, because they have - inexplicably - light fixtures that hang from the ceiling in front of the TV. We were craning our necks in the weirdest ways and basically staring right above the guy's head sitting next to us (I think he might have thought we were staring at him). I can't speak to the food or any drinks other than standard beers, but I can say that the obstructed TVs make it a place I would not return again for the purpose of watching a sports event. Granted, they were busy, and we didn't have our choice of seats, and it might be a great bar to just hang out at. But as a sports bar, it was a complete flop for me. read more

Was very disappointed last night. My husband and my dinner were both over cooked and we weren't offer any discount. He ordered there steak medium rare and it came out more medium well. They didn't offer to make him a new one or any discount. I got their Alfredo with grilled shrimp. The shrimp was over cooked and hard to chew. Plus they charged you $12 extra for 4 shrimp. The Alfredo had a tomatoe taste and color to it as well. Not your regular Alfredo and it didn't say anything about tomatoe Alfredo sauce on the menu. Bartender ever even asked us if our meals were okay, just said I'm sorry when we told him we were not satisfied with our meals. Never offered for us to talk to a manager or anything. This is my second time here. It was just as good the 2nd time as the 1st. The food was as good. My recommendation is the crab cake egg rolls!! BOMB!! I got the Tri Pit salad...see picture!! One of the best spots in York! Have been here many times and it never disappoints no matter if it's for lunch, dinner, or just coming to grab some drinks. Come early though, they don't take reservations so it's first come first serve. The menu is big! Tons of different options. They have great seafood options too. The Crab Pretzel appetizer is great and shareable. So many of the Handheld choices are delicious. Tried the Cajun Seafood Wrap and it was so good! Great sweet potato fries as well! Stopped in at the smoking bar as it was the first door handle I grabbed after walking around the corner. There is three distinct restaurant/bar and grills here and the wife and we stepped into, what i believe, is the original bar. Bar tender was an extraordinary young lady that took great care of us. I ordered the bacon blue burger and it was legit, cooked to order and a perfect medium rare. Wow. Definitely want to stop back and try some more of the menu and possibly the other venus. Seeing that this is currently a 3.5 rating is bewildering to me. We stopped at White Rose on our way back to the Poconos from Washington DC and a quick internet search brought up some food that looked excellent so we figured we had to stop. In the mood for burgers and wings made for a perfect reason to come here, and they did not disappoint one bit. First of all....FIRST OF ALL, let me talk to you about this drink. So I typically try to order things that are low/no calorie for my beverage and it is usually water, coke zero, unsweetened tea are my options. So our server (who I believe was also the bartender in our section) said they have some flavored unsweetened teas. Now I'm intrigued and she lists off a few flavors. Something about the unsweetened strawberry tea screamed order me, so I did just that. And then a few minutes later had another one. Wow. I believe she was just using a sugar free Monin syrup but this tea had a such a great flavor to it and actually tasted like strawberry. Not the essence of strawberry, not a hint of strawberry, but actual strawberry. It was fantastic. If I haven't mentioned already, this place is massive. There are at least 3-4 separate dining rooms inside as well as at least 2 outdoor dining areas that were closed in (I'm guessing because of the change in temperature and weather) with basically just big tents with windows. We started with some wings. Wanted to go pretty basic so we just went with medium buffalo and we got a ranch and a bleu cheese. The wings were large but also had a nice crispiness to the outside of them. The interior meat was still very moist and overall the wing was cooked perfectly. No tastes of fryer oil or anything off-putting, and the sauce had a good flavor and balance as well. I believe they made the ranch and bleu cheese in house and both had nice flavor. The ranch was almost whipped in consistency and had some herbs in it that you typically don't get when ordering ranch. I enjoyed all of this a lot. Samantha got the CBR sandwich (Chicken, Bacon, Ranch), Tara got (I can't remember the name of it) burger with prime rib, frizzled onions, and provolone, and I got the all American burger which was basically the same toppings you'd get on a big mac but add bacon. All 3 were very good. The CBR had a good overall flavor and the texture on the chicken was very good. Occasionally you get a chicken breast that just has a poor mouthfeel but this had a nice bite. Add in melted cheddar, bacon, and that ranch from earlier on a toasted brioche roll and now we're in business! The burger with the prime rib was very good as well, I mean, how could it not be? Prime rib on top of a quality burger patty with melted cheese and frizzled onions is basically a cheat code. If there is one thing I need to say negatively, it is that both this burger and mine were well past the temp we asked them to be. We both wanted medium rare and there maybe might have been a very slight bit of pink left in them, if any at all. The burgers were still juicy and excellent though. My All American was exactly what I envisioned, exactly what I wanted, and I was happy after eating it. Again the only thing wrong was the temp, but it tasted great. Also the service here was excellent, even down to the food runners/bussers. Very friendly, very professional, and all in all, just a wonderful experience. Absolutely recommend. I had the Caesar salad, salmon, crab pretzel. The crab pretzel was a 5/5 for sure! The Caesar salad was also really good, but the dressing felt salty. The salmon was undercooked and was also salty.
