Fantastic from appetizers to desserts. I was there for a private dinner meeting. It was held upstairs. The server did a great job with making sure that our drinks were filled, and we had to go boxes and brought our food out in a timely manner. Some of the appetizer choices were the calamari, fried kale and crab claw lollipops. All three were absolutely outstanding, and the portions were large. For dinner, our choices are rockfish, lobster, mac & cheese, filet mignon, or grilled chicken green curry. Again, the portion sizes were large and everyone enjoyed their meals. We were able to choose from a flourless chocolate torte or cheesecake. I forgot to mention that the Caesar salad was so fresh and the dressing was outstanding. Darwin would be displeased with you. As am I, because it's never good to have a tired teacher research any kind of history on her day off. You see, back in 17th century England, private houses would open their homes to the public and sell food and beer. Hence, public house. Over time, they dropped the "lic house" and just called them pubs. Because you never dropped the "lic house" makes me think that you haven't evolved like you should have. And frankly, your food is proof. In fact, it even made me nostalgic. But not in the way you might think. You see, I loved making fun food concoctions when I was a kid. My sister and I would watch this corny show called "Zoom" on Maryland public television, where the kid hosts would make recipes sent in from all over the country. We'd make homemade peanut butter cups using Jif and semisweet chocolate chips. Or weird sandwich combinations like pickles and potato chips and cheese and jelly. The seafood egg rolls weren't the worst part of my meal, but they were definitely sophomoric--as if a kid chef-in-training was asked to whip something up from Chinese food leftovers. Seafood should never taste fishy, yet these did. One bite hit me like something that had been sitting a little too long above the waterline. Not to mention, they were laying on a greasy glob of some mayonnaise accompaniment disguised as a fancy garnish you'd see on MasterChef. One word: Ick. The ahi tacos. Oh boy. My mind fills with seawater the moment I think of them because they tasted as if they had been fished right out of the ocean and then placed on my plate. They were wet. Soaked. Drenched. The gelatinous seaweed clump on each taco wasn't culinary-forward, just unappetizing. I took one bite and wished I could spit it back out, but I reluctantly swallowed it. My esophagus is now aquaphobic thanks to you. The moment the coconut jasmine rice hit my mouth, my tastebuds took the red eye to the coconut tree haven of the Maldives. Normally, this wouldn't be a bad thing, but the rice and coconut had no cohesion. It tasted like my younger self dumping a handful of shredded coconut--the sweetened kind my mom kept in the pantry for the wool on her Easter-shaped lamb cake--into a cup of microwaveable rice. The only redeeming aspect of our meal was your kind, charismatic waiter. He was lovely in every way--attentive, sweet, and helpful. He would have been an incredible host on "Zoom." If only his personality made the food taste better. For your sake, I hope you learn to evolve your kitchen's offerings beyond the amateurish trio I experienced. Went on a Thursday evening to use a gift card my boss gave me for recent merits. It wasn'tt too busy and it took appx 5 minutes for the anyone to acknowledge my arrival. She (the bartender) was washing dishes and that understandable IMO. Ordered the Fish & Chips to-go and a water while I waited. Ordered the fried cod extra crispy but it was not extra crispy. Don't get me wrong, it still tasted alright but I've had better at other places. Did not like the tartar sauce but the kale & cabbage slaw was noteworthy. I work in the service industry, so, a lot of things I tend to look over with a predisposed manner of understanding, kindness, and compassion for my fellow industry peeps. I never want to be "one of those guys" but no one knows unless they're made aware, right?! All was well until I found that my cod had not been drained properly of fryer grease. The french fries were literally swimming in pool of grease from the fried fish. I love things fried, smothered, and covered as I'm a "saucy " guy naturally BUT the pool of grease was a bit much. I will go back, I will try something different next time, and I will enjoy dining in as opposed to takeout. I recently moved to town and into my own apartment (literally right around the corner) and I need something after a long day of unpacking and decompressing. It was everything I needed to be grateful for but just not exactly what I was hoping for. My new acquaintances at work and around York raved but I'm still on the fence. We came here for a spontaneous date night on Sunday after seeing so many good things about it for so long and I'm so glad we finally did! The restaurant was gorgeous, I loved the theming and our waitress was so sweet and super attentive. We started with drinks and I got the Dole Whip ($10) which was pineapple rum and whipped vodka with pineapple juice and soda and my husband got a glass of Pinot Grigio ($10), both were good! Then for appetizer we ordered the Tuna Poke Nachos ($17) which were also very good. The fish was very fresh and the wonton chips were super crispy, the only complaint I would have is that there was a little too much of the wasabi dressing on it. Then for entrees I had the Copper Creek Filet Mignon ($42) which was delicious! The beef was so tender and cooked perfectly and the potatoes had roasted garlic on them and were also really good. My husband had the Chesapeake Grilled Rockfish ($32) and I'm not a huge fan of fish but this was good and not at all fishy but the highlight was the side of Mediterranean Couscous with Feta. It was cooked perfectly, not too mushy, and the flavor with the big chunks of feta was amazing!!! Then we ended with a dessert which was the Key Lime Tart ($8) which was really good but the crust was a little too thick and hard to get through. I ended it off with a nightcap of the Banana Bread Martini ($12) which was strong but good and definitely tasted like banana bread. My husband and I stopped here for dinner on a Friday night. We were seated right away outside. It was a beautiful night to eat outdoors. Our waitress was very friendly and fast. Always checking to make sure we didn't need anything else. We decided to try their seafood nachos as an appetizer. We loved them. Lots of fresh shrimp and scallopes, as well a fresh guacamole and the chips looked homemade. For dinner my husband got the seafood mac and I had their hot lobster roll with a side of slaw. The calamari was the only thing I would not order again. The breading was atypical for calamari. I usually love the delicate breading on calamari. This was like KFC crispy breading in taste and thickness. There were also fried red onions mixed in. Those were great and outshone the calamari. The crab stuffed lobster tail was worth the high price. Best crab I've had and a ton of it. The coconut rice was tasty too. The kale didn't add much. The seafood linguine had a lot of seafood and was good. The drinks were pretty good. A little heavy handed on the flavoring. Both were delicious. All of us got the crab cake sandwich. The best crab cake sandwich I've ever had! Large chunks of backfin crab and just enough filler. Brioche roll makes is perfect. Amazing place to eat dinner after a round of golf nearby. York, PA is not a popular tourist destination. But it is filled with locals and make 4 our Asians stood out among the white crowed. Who cares! The food is super, esp. the soups. They are the best soups. Everything else were so nice and every one was happy and nicely surprised with the quality in York, and feel it is better than such restaurants in Princeton, NJ, where we are from for this golf outing trip. Popped by here 39 min before closing because I'd just arrived in town. Did not hear a peep from the staff about "we're almost closing". They were very friendly and engaging. I quickly placed my order (because I'd checked their hours on Yelp before I'd walked in) and sat back enjoying my Surfside Peach Tea Vodka while I waited for my food to arrive. As I sat, I admired how how the place felt light and airy in-spite of the beautiful dark wood bar that's took up the entire wall. Great seafood grill in downtown York, PA. Started with the New England Clam Chowder and the Poke Nachos. Chowder was solid with plentiful amounts of clams, bacon, and a broth that was on the lighter side. Very enjoyable. The poke nachos were outstanding. Really fresh ahi tuna perfectly marinated and seasoned, crispy wonton chips, seaweed salad and very flavorful spicy mayo sauce. For my entree, got the hot lobster roll with butter, housemade slaw and Brussels sprouts. Lobster was so tender and full of flavor. Roll was perfectly toasted with hints of butter and garlic. I have been wanting to try it for a while now and have actually made reservations to go to the left bank and a friend convince me to change my reservation and go to rockfish instead. I'm glad I did. Buy a recommendation from a friend she said the seafood nachos were amazing and we got them and they were everything she said they were! So with that we opted for soup and salads because also the oyster stew came highly recommended. I've never had to waste your suit so I didn't really know what to expect I felt like it was a little sweet but maybe that's how it's supposed to be I felt like it tasted really nice. My husband has a New England clam chowder and it was OK, I've had better but still good. And I had the cob salad which I was expecting dressing on and it didn't have any but actually it was OK. The food usually comes out extremely fast and you can tell the kitchen does a great job. I always make it a point to stop here for a meal whenever I travel to York. This is argueably the best spot for seafood within the town. They have amazing happy hour prices, and even without that everything is priced fair. I'm obviously here for the oysters, but anything from their steamer menu is delicious and portioned fairly!
