Quick stop on a downtown York tour, and this place stood out right away. The interior is beautiful and the bar itself really catches your eye. The bartender was engaging and attentive, which made the experience even better. The miss for me was the fried calamari. It was labeled as crispy but didn't quite hit the mark. That said, the oysters the folks next to me ordered looked and smelled fantastic, with a few different variations that definitely caught my attention.

We had a great dinner late in the evening last night, despite being next to a rowdy table of drunken imbeciles. Our server, Jaden was super friendly and engaging. Our drinks and meals came out quickly and all were very good.

Went on a Thursday evening to use a gift card my boss gave me for recent merits. It wasn'tt too busy and it took appx 5 minutes for the anyone to acknowledge my arrival. She (the bartender) was washing dishes and that understandable IMO. Ordered the Fish & Chips to-go and a water while I waited. Ordered the fried cod extra crispy but it was not extra crispy. Don't get me wrong, it still tasted alright but I've had better at other places. Did not like the tartar sauce but the kale & cabbage slaw was noteworthy. I work in the service industry, so, a lot of things I tend to look over with a predisposed manner of understanding, kindness, and compassion for my fellow industry peeps. I never want to be "one of those guys" but no one knows unless they're made aware, right?! All was well until I found that my cod had not been drained properly of fryer grease. The french fries were literally swimming in pool of grease from the fried fish. I love things fried, smothered, and covered as I'm a "saucy " guy naturally BUT the pool of grease was a bit much. I will go back, I will try something different next time, and I will enjoy dining in as opposed to takeout. I recently moved to town and into my own apartment (literally right around the corner) and I need something after a long day of unpacking and decompressing. It was everything I needed to be grateful for but just not exactly what I was hoping for. My new acquaintances at work and around York raved but I'm still on the fence. After all, who wants anything swimming in grease? ***cue the acid reflux meds* Clean restaurant and great vibe. Hopefully I can give more "stars" next time in lieu of less grease. Thank you, Rockfish Public House; I will be back! Lots of gluten-free items on the menu (including crab cakes). Where do you find crab cakes without an over abundance of fillers like breadcrumbs?! Clearly, at Rockfish Public House! YOU KNOW THAT SHYT IS BOMB! see ya soon! Sincerely, Your Newest Neighbor! (Lee)

We came here for a spontaneous date night on Sunday after seeing so many good things about it for so long and I'm so glad we finally did! The restaurant was gorgeous, I loved the theming and our waitress was so sweet and super attentive. We started with drinks and I got the Dole Whip ($10) which was pineapple rum and whipped vodka with pineapple juice and soda and my husband got a glass of Pinot Grigio ($10), both were good! Then for appetizer we ordered the Tuna Poke Nachos ($17) which were also very good. The fish was very fresh and the wonton chips were super crispy, the only complaint I would have is that there was a little too much of the wasabi dressing on it. Then for entrees I had the Copper Creek Filet Mignon ($42) which was delicious! The beef was so tender and cooked perfectly and the potatoes had roasted garlic on them and were also really good. My husband had the Chesapeake Grilled Rockfish ($32) and I'm not a huge fan of fish but this was good and not at all fishy but the highlight was the side of Mediterranean Couscous with Feta. It was cooked perfectly, not too mushy, and the flavor with the big chunks of feta was amazing!!! Then we ended with a dessert which was the Key Lime Tart ($8) which was really good but the crust was a little too thick and hard to get through. I ended it off with a nightcap of the Banana Bread Martini ($12) which was strong but good and definitely tasted like banana bread. We would definitely come back here and recommend it to friends coming to the area!

Downtown York is such a cute town and Rockfish is an excellent place for dinner! We started off with the shrimp and crab egg rolls, which were delish, as well as the coconut shrimp special, which was amazing. I had the chilled lobster roll and my husband had the crab stuffed lobster. Both were excellent! Our server was friendly and attentive, and the restaurant was bustling! Next up, I want to try their oysters! We will be back.

Yes! Visiting downtown York and we came across this gem. The atmosphere was a really chill vibe. Great for couple, friends hang out , solo or family. We only had apps however the food was really good. The waiter was attentive, knowledgeable and has a great personality. Oh! I loved the York peppermint patties in place of the normal after dinner peppermint. We were staying at a nearby hotel and walked however parking is street.

Such a great experience. We came in for dinner after work and was able to get a table immediately. The front near the window was packed but they high tables in the back were open. Our server was very polite and helpful. The food was delicious. Our drinks were good too. We will definitely be back. You do have to pay to park but I believe parking is free in the weekend in the garage near the restaurant

Went for an early dinner to celebrate a birthday on a saturday around 4. We did not have a reservation but luckily they could seat us. Excellent service. Mostly high top tables and a bar area, but they also have some regular tables. Cool industrial vibe. 4-6, even on saturday, is happy hour. We took advantage of the half off clams and mussels. Both were delicious. All of us got the crab cake sandwich. The best crab cake sandwich I've ever had! Large chunks of backfin crab and just enough filler. Brioche roll makes is perfect. I did not use the remoulade because I don't do spicy, but I dunked in the butter from the clams and could not have been happier. Their fries are also crunchy and seasoned well. I went with the sugar cookie martini and it tasted just like it sounds! Other drinks were also on point! Highly recommend.

Service was great. The clam chowder was thick with lots of clams and bacon. The hot lobster roll was fabulous. It was all lobster with no filler or even mayo. You could order butter to put on it which I did. The crab sandwich was huge with lots of chunks of crab in it. Both were good but I liked the hot lobster roll better. Our friends loved the oysters Rockefeller.

My wife had the fish and chips. Food was good and plentiful. Service was very good, ate with some old friends, there was no rush, they gave us plenty of space. The menu is varied, specials are not typical fare, but also do not become science projects like so many "creations" do. The food is left to speak for itself. Affordable. It sounds bold, and it is, but it works beautifully. The broth is rich and deeply savory, the cheese pull is perfect, and the crispy rings add a texture you never knew the classic was missing. The pork chop remains the star of the menu--huge, expertly seasoned, and cooked with precision. It's widely considered the best in the city, and honestly might be the best in the state. Juicy, tender, and full of flavor, it's the kind of entrée you end up recommending to friends for weeks. Their octopus is another standout, prepared with surprising delicacy. Tender, not chewy, with a perfect char that adds just the right amount of smokiness. It's balanced, refined, and one of the most memorable small plates you'll find locally. And don't leave without dessert--the crème brûlée is phenomenal. Silky smooth custard under a flawlessly torched sugar crust that cracks just right. Simple, classic, and executed perfectly. Between the inventive dishes and the warm atmosphere, The First Post remains a must-visit for anyone who loves great food done exceptionally well.
