The Good: The food was great! Enjoyed the fish and shrimp taco (we were there on a Friday which was their special of the day and modello. Also enjoyed their $5 burger special with a basket of their waffle fries. Also a $3 shot! They really do have some great daily specials! The Bad: The service! It started out fine but then our server seemed to forget about us. It was not busy but it took over 45 minutes for a burger. Another table that came in after us got their meal and paid and left before we even got our burgers. We asked to speak to the manager who was also the owner and he gave us 50% off, which is great but it was such a bad experience I'm not sure I will be back anytime soon, which sort of sucks cause their food is good and their specials too! Who doesn't love a good ole "Cheers" vibe neighborhood spot!? Service here is very welcoming, no one is a stranger coming in. Menus were just updated, so that's awesome to see continued growth. The staff here does a great job in making you feel chill while you are here. There's always happy hour till 8, and daily specials. It's not uncommon to see the staff hanging out even when they're not working. Our server was absolutely polite and amazing! She provided great recommendations and was pleasant to speak with. There was a good number of people during our meal, not too busy, not too slow. The establishment was right across a plaza and across the beach. What an excellent location!! The food was absolutely delicious! You can customize the rice bowls any which way you want. We were spending the night in Ocean View and saw that the OV Beach Tavern had good reviews. It was raining, and the awning they had outside for rain didn't have any sort of drainage so you had to cross through what could've been waterfall to get in the restaurant. They have ample indoor seating as well as some outdoor tables. Free street parking outside. Our waitress was very friendly. Our food came out fast and overall it was good but very average in terms of sports bar food. They have some creative menu options but the execution could be improved! Smoked Salmon Wrap: My friend said this was ok but would've liked the tortilla warm or slightly toasted to bring it all together Tater Tots: I feel these were missing salt? They had a good texture but tasted bland Drunken Mushroom: I liked this - the burger was good and the combination of mushrooms and goat cheese was really nice. Will say it felt pretty greasy, even the bun was leaving oil stains on the paper. Couldn't finish it all. Brussel sprouts: These had a nice flavor but needed a bit longer to cook. Tasted more raw than I would've liked. Can't speak to the Tavern Burger and side salad but my friend seemed to enjoy it! One odd thing to note is that the table was super sticky. Our menus and cups and silverware literally had to be pulled with a bit of force to get them off the table. The waitress said it was just this table specifically that always has issues, probably something with whatever seal it has on it because she said it was clean. Even so, this definitely should be fixed! I've been to this location two times and will most likely return for a third visit. The first dish I tried was the fried mahi. This is a generous portion of fried fish and it came with two side dishes. I opted for the Mexican street corn and brussel sprouts. The street corn is their version of a deconstructed elote. The brussel sprouts were deep fried. I would order this again but probably not with the brussel sprouts. The 2'nd time around I tried their $5.00 burger because I wanted a cheeseburger but their regular burger has two patties in it and that is a bit much for me. The $5.00 burger comes with lettuce, tomato and onion. Everything else is extra, I added cheddar cheese and passed on the onion and tomato. I also ordered the fried pickles because I love fried pickles. I will say that they were good but they weren't great. With that being said I would most likely order the pickles again. The description of the burgers specifically claims they're smash burgers, but they absolutely are not. They're just regular burgers. It's deceptive and it irks me because I really wanted a good burger. The service was just ok - there was only one bartender who was also serving tables. Didn't check on us after the food was initially dropped off. The only table we saw that would accommodate our party of seven was adjacent to the video poker machines. One person was playing the entire time we ate, and halfway through another disheveled person who reeeked of cigarette smoke played the other machine and kept knocking into our chairs. I came to this place about nine months ago. The food was great. It was on a Sunday. We had the brunch specials. It was great today I came. I don't know what happened. They were out of Tito's. They were out of waffle fries. Stopped by on 11/7/22 after a friend and I made plans to check OV Beach Tavern together. We were interested in OVBT's happy hour (which runs from 3p-7p) since they offer specials on both food and drinks. I think the biggest eye-catcher was their $5 burger. A quick note - the $5 burger is basically just the burger with no sides and almost no condiments. You can add on (which costs extra, of course), so that's that. My friend ended up ordering the burger, upon which she exclaimed it to be the best $5 burger she's ever had. She also ordered a cocktail (of which I forgot the name), which looked tasty, especially since she had two. I wasn't all that hungry, but I ordered the Tater Tot Nachos. It was a good dish, but there wasn't an abundance of cheddar. Then, a lot of the cheddar was stuck to the aluminum foil they used to line the bottom of the basket it's served in. I liked it, but the portion size ran smaller when compared to other spots that offer a similar item. I don't drink much anymore - I had a Coke and a water. When I received my bill, I noticed they charged for soda refills. I'm cool with this as long as I'm told up front, but I only discovered this when I was ready to pay. Personally, that was the only gaffe I witnessed from our server (Rob), who was nice, moved with some urgency and also fairly (outside of the soda refill charge) informative. Lastly - no desserts; not even vanilla ice cream. I figured I'd try a dessert since this was my inaugural visit, but when I asked Rob about it he was initially unsure. Both of us browsed the menu, saw nothing. Then he confirmed they offered no dessert after he asked the BOH staff. Right now, OV Beach Tavern is 3.5 stars with plenty of potential. Their establishment seems really dark and dungeon-like, but the vibe is chill and feels (and looks) like an Ocean View spot. Thank you, OV Beach Tavern. OV Tavern was a great experience! Close to the Navy base and lots of hearty food options. My friends and I visited for a work lunch and enjoyed the atmosphere and service. Came down for my Girls Weekend Trip with my 2 besties and my second mom. We Decided to stop by randomly for dinner after looking up the menu and reviews for weeks before we came on our trip. We had Reay and HOMEGIRL did her thang. Service, food and drinks was AMAZING. We had Mini Crab Balls, Tavern Burger, Crab Cake sandwich and Pulled Pork BBQ sandwich. Cool spot in Ocean View for solid bar food, a great happy hour, and themed nights. Grabbed a casual dinner here with friends on a weeknight and was generally pleased with the ambiance and the menu. While there wasn't anything going on that day, I noticed that they did trivia nights/bingo nights/etc so that may be worth a try! We found seating at the patio, protected from the pouring rain. There were free table games to use as we waited for service which made the time pass right by. We weren't particularly happy with the place the last time we were here but we thought we'd give it a second chance. We sat at the bar. The server was friendly. There was a good selection of beer and inexpensive appetizers. We had the bacon ranch quesadilla appetizer, that was real tasty during our last visit... and was still very good this time. Things went south however, when we walked around to the dark and dingy dining area and saw the mess on the floor and the unbussed tables. It appeared that nobody cleaned up after last night's closing or the day's opening. It was not busy (There was only a handful of customers in the building.) so some employee should have made an effort to clean. First of all, this place felt like one had just walked into the Bull and Finch on the set of Cheers. The bartender seemed to know everybody and they seemed to all know each other. The staff is amazing and the food is generally good for the price you pay but I took a friend who is considering a run for public office a few weeks ago and I choose this place over another one I have really wanted to try but knowing the staff and my experiences there I wanted to share with her. We first ordered two tacos each. Sadly not edible. Then we ordered wings and I had one and she friend had two. The owner was gracious enough would come check on us but that was about it. I came here for a Ravens game. It was pretty loud but that's expected. I ordered a Christmas Special with a chose of turkey or ham. It came with bread, butter, chicken, corn, mashed potatoes, and gravy. The chicken was a little dry and the mashed potatoes feel like they have sat out for a while.
