We went to Jose Tequilas a while back and left less than satisfied. We started off with margaritas which were good. My sister ordered a fish dish and it did not taste fresh. I ordered tacos & the meat was tough. When my sister let them know about the fish not being fresh to the manager, he was defensive. They brought her back out the replacement dish she requested which was a taco dish. The ground beef was unseasoned and hadn't had the water drained from it. It was disgusting. This experience left a bad taste in my mouth. We won't be back to Jose Tequilas. read more

Went here for dinner for Cinco de Mayo and it was so good! It was definitely very crowded inside and the parking was full, but we managed to find an empty random spot. The menu was condensed for the holiday, our waitress informed us they did that because they knew it was going to be chaotic/crowded for the holiday. I ordered the grande sampler which comes with a burrito, enchilada, chile relleno, taco, a chalupa, and a side of rice and beans. So much food, def worth the price! 10/10 so yummy! This Jose Tequilas is located in the Little Creek section of Norfolk along E. Little Creek Rd. The closest exit for the place from I-64 is exit 278 which brings you to Chesapeake Blvd. It is basically where N. Military Hwy, Chesapeake Blvd., and E. Little Creek Rd. meet. Because of how traffic flows are, you will want to go onto N. Military Hwy to E. Little Creek Rd. My visit here was on January 18, 2025. I don't come over to this area very often. I was out this way for our departmental luncheon. There is another location close to where I live, so I figured this would still be good too. There was ample parking when I arrived. It wasn't too busy when I came in, but I think the rainy weather that day may have kept some away. The inside of the place is pretty big, so I could tell that they would easily be able to accommodate a group of our size. The overall ambiance of the place was inviting and has those Mexican vibes to it. Even though everyone wasn't there yet, our server came to the table and checked each time as others arrived to find out what drink(s) we wanted. I did stick with water with lemons, as I don't do the sodas and such. Within a 15 minute window, everyone arrived and we were checking over the menu options. After some time and chatter, the server came around to get our orders. I decided to go with the Top Shelf Queso as an appetizer and the Super Burrito with Chicken entree. I normally don't do the tortilla, but I figured I would this time. After everyone ordered, it would be about 5 minutes or so when all the appetizer orders came out. The Top Shelf Queso was really good. It had a good flavor to it. I didn't eat the whole thing of course, so I did bring the rest home afterwards to consume then too. About 10 minutes after the appetizers came out, the entrees came out to the table. The Super Burrito looked really good too. It was hot so I had to wait a moment to start on it. The burrito was really good. The flavors complemented very well. I have been in diabetic remission for about 19 months and counting as of the time of this review. I was pleasantly surprised that in the end, I did not get any major glucose spikes from the meal that day too. Overall, the food, service and atmosphere were phenomenal. The food was really good. The servers were on it for all of us during that visit too. They were quick to check and make sure there were no issues and were quick to keep the water cups full too. You will definitely get the Mexican atmosphere here. If you happen to be in that part of Norfolk and looking for a Mexican restaurant, this place is definitely worth coming to. read more

Food comes out even faster. The waiters are checking up on you whenever you finish your meal and your water never goes empty. The are extremely patient as well. To see they have a new menu shows me, they aren't being lazy about their establishment. The fortress had ribs vertical on the plate in a circular way, creating a fortress like barrier around the rest of the food. Food is still delicious. The cilantro lime rice is better at Chipotle. It was okay food and my husband said the same about the burrito. However it was clean inside, waited not much more than five minutes for food. Okay, so after about a 3 year hiatus, I revisited Jose Tequila and I must admit that the drinks are still amazing! I had the G.O.A.T. Margarita which was STRONG and superb! For my meal, I opted for the carne asada fries and they were FIRE! I did have to remind/ask for pico but no worries, they were delicious with just the right amount of flavor, especially cilantro. I met a friend here on a Friday evening. Service was decent, there were a lot of open tables so I was able to be seated immediately. It's very clean inside and the booths are really large. I got the tacos de birria and they arrived to the table within minutes of ordering. Unfortunately, they were super soggy and falling apart. I couldn't even dip them in the broth. That was immediately after receiving them too so it's not like they were sitting there for a while, so I was disappointed.
