Why is this place rated so highly?…read more The drinks were ok. Their coffee and espresso aren't great, but it isn't bad either. They have a large menu and a lot of baked goods. Service is definitely slow. It was a long wait just to get a plain latte despite no one being ahead of me. The physical place is disgusting. There are coffee splatters on the walls, dust and dirt piled up in every corner, and every table and area was sticky. I felt like I needed to go home and take a shower after sitting there for a few hours with some friends. They need to take some pride in the place and clean it. It's not the kind of place that you absolutely need to avoid, but I would drive to a surrounding small town's coffee shop before I would ever go back to Cool Beanz.

The other annoying aspect is they rotate their baked items frequently so the items I really like such as the Ube coconut bun and other items are not always offered. You have to check their website a day before or on the day you want to go to plan what items are available. That being said if you have flexibility in your morning work schedule, still one of the better bakeries to go to. It's one of the few places I would like to go to more often, but often skip due to the strict hours of the breakfast sandwiches available and not always having the items I really like.

The Morning Owl is a nice coffee shop that bridges the craftsmanship of coffee and the approachability of a small town community hub. From their signature drinks such as the Strawberry Kiss to a traditional Italian Macciato, they have everything a coffee shop should for the menu. The fifth star of this review stems from the service. The number of people whose names, drink preferences, and other conversation topics reveal a defining trait about this shop: it's more than coffee, tea, and baked goods. It's home away from home, office space for the price of a coffee. If you chat with a barista, the jokes can be a Hoot! On that front, it's normally quiet, a majority of people buy a coffee and leave. Those that stay are pretty quietly typing novels, playing games with headphones, or studying. Students do come in after school and though the volume does increase, its usually pretty respectful. it gets rambunctious rarely, and when it does, the barista is usually good at super kindly soothing the offending parties. It's a safe bet for a quiet work environment. A cornerstone of Milan, A cornerstone of the coffee industry, and demonstrating that good coffee need not be pretentious. Owl see you there. read more

I grew up in the Milan area and only recently moved back to find the Lighthouse gone, and I would have been sad, but this fine establishment opened up in the same lovely storefront. Morning Owl has good to great espresso and well-made coffee. Their baked goods seem nice - though I've only had the tasty bagels, which I recommend. Where they shine is the fine fellows behind the counter - they are friendly and knowledgeable, willing to go the extra mile to make your day a bit brighter. Tell them what you prefer in your coffee cup, and they may even find your new favorite drink! As a coffee shop lover, I also have to say that the redesign of the space works well, though the walls are a bit bare (but have been filling up slowly), and the music is usually good as well (think variations of rock, folk, and chill, in turn). It's a great place to do some work, have a chat, or hang out with friends, though it does tend to be low key, which is a good thing in my opinion. Oh, and the prices are quite affordable. The best new place I've discovered in a long time! Excellent coffee (take my word on this as a fanatic about great coffee) and fabulous smoothies, inviting ambience, and a very comfortable atmosphere. Everything from the colors, gentle background music, seating and decor have been well thought out to create a space to really enjoy spending time in. Proud and dedicated owners have made excellent use of this renovated space and kept the integrity of the old building that houses this awesome cafe. I live about an hour north of Milan but will still make it a point to visit there again and again. read more

An superb local coffee shop. The iced coffee is smooth and the flavored Mochas are to die for! Also, they have books and board games which kept my toddler busy while I enjoyed a relaxing beverage. I love that they have almond milk as a dairy free option, most places dont have a dairy alternative and when they do they usually have only soy (morning owl has both). They also have neat events, I just went to their art fair, pick up a locally knit hat and a delicious cup of coffee. read more

The Owl was the venue we used for my newest books launch! It was a great spot for space, coffee and pastries. I had a good size group turn out and the book buyers stayed and mingled for the event enjoying a coffee. Would visit again just for a coffee and cinnamon bread! read more

I ordered the Sammy's best (bacon, egg, spinach, tomato, swiss, and garlic aioli) on an asiago bagel as well as an oat milk latte. They brought my order out to my table when it was ready. The wifi was super fast and I was able to get quite a bit of work done. The bagel sandwich was super tasty and the asiago bagel was the cheesiest I've had in awhile! The garlic aioli gave it a bit of a zip and I really enjoyed this. The latte was smooth and creamy, not the best I've ever had, but it did the trick. I'm so glad I gave this spot a chance and will definitely be back the next time I'm in town. It was getting pretty busy by 9 am, so get there early if you'd like a table.

After clarifying that a Dulce de leche cinnamon roll is a cinnamon roll (there was a voice of two different cinnamon rolls, so it made sense to me to be specific), I was asked if I wanted it heated, which of course I did. I then caught that a regular coffee (rather than a latte) had been rung up. While I was typing my phone number to register for repeat customer rewards another person came in. While I was typing the cashier rang up the other customer cancelling my entry. This does not matter, actually, because the roll, while the frosting looked like it had been heated was stone cold and stale (clearly the icing had been touched or brushed somehow) and I would be crazy to return and spend money the amount I did, which unfortunately included a generous tip. This was before I realized that four workers could not focus on their jobs enough to incorporate a new potentially repeating customer into their morning routines.
