I'm always looking for a great coffee shop in the Ann Arbor area where I can get some work done and enjoy a delicious breakfast and coffee. After thoroughly searching Yelp, Google, and Reddit, I decided to check out Moonwinks this time. I arrived right as they were opening at 8 am and immediately loved the parking lot and plentiful seating inside. They also have some outside seating. Ann Arbor seems to have quite a few of these cafe/bar combination concepts so I think this spot turns into a bar in the evening. I ordered the Sammy's best (bacon, egg, spinach, tomato, swiss, and garlic aioli) on an asiago bagel as well as an oat milk latte. They brought my order out to my table when it was ready. The wifi was super fast and I was able to get quite a bit of work done. The bagel sandwich was super tasty and the asiago bagel was the cheesiest I've had in awhile! The garlic aioli gave it a bit of a zip and I really enjoyed this. The latte was smooth and creamy, not the best I've ever had, but it did the trick. I'm so glad I gave this spot a chance and will definitely be back the next time I'm in town. It was getting pretty busy by 9 am, so get there early if you'd like a table. read more

Two customers Four workers: great promise but bigger disappointment! Walked in and took time deciding on a lovely Dulce de Leche cinnamon roll and ordered a skim decaf latte to go with it. After clarifying that a Dulce de leche cinnamon roll is a cinnamon roll (there was a voice of two different cinnamon rolls, so it made sense to me to be specific), I was asked if I wanted it heated, which of course I did. I then caught that a regular coffee (rather than a latte) had been rung up. While I was typing my phone number to register for repeat customer rewards another person came in. While I was typing the cashier rang up the other customer cancelling my entry. This does not matter, actually, because the roll, while the frosting looked like it had been heated was stone cold and stale (clearly the icing had been touched or brushed somehow) and I would be crazy to return and spend money the amount I did, which unfortunately included a generous tip. This was before I realized that four workers could not focus on their jobs enough to incorporate a new potentially repeating customer into their morning routines. read more

The place was clean. that's where the positive review ends. There were only 2 customers at one table when we arrived around 4:40pm. 2 waitresses chatting by the bar. they didn't greet us and continued chatting for a while even tho we were seated at the table right in front of them. When they did come to the table it appeared one was training the other. let's start with the appetizer- loaded tots- for $11.50 we got 21 tots sparsely sprinkled with cheese, maybe 1/16 piece of bacon cut up and a few green flakes. We both ordered the Philly Chicken Sub, his no mushroom, mine "cheese only.". Mine arrived with everything except cheese on it. The waitress said she thought no cheese. After this was repeated back and forth a couple times... Back to the kitchen it went and I could see directly in there. The returned sub got passed back and forth & the waitress finally came back and said they are making another and the manager is going to take something off the bill. Then my new Philly chicken sub arrives.... Go ahead and guess what was on it... I bet you can't even imagine the absurdity of it... cheese! Yes they put just cheese on it this time.... Cheese On the Bun!!! That's it! Just cheese! No chicken! Cheese only! The waitress said she thought that was what I wanted. on my Philly chicken sub ‍ and again she backed it up by repeating it. Needless to say we will never be back. I'm not much for writing reviews but this one needed to be written. I wish I could give them a zero. Great food and sandwiches in Dixboro! My boyfriend and I came back from the Matthei Botanical Gardens and came here for a quick bite to eat. There were plenty of seating, and both families and friends can come to get a bite to eat. You order at the counter and sit down with your meal. There were lots of flyers detailing local events, so I think it would be a fun setting to come enjoy music or gather for a social! read more

Came here for ladies brunch one Sunday late morning. I appreciate the low-key vibe of MoonWInk's Cafe. It's a great casual spot for one-on-one or smaller group meet-ups. This would also be a great spot for some reading/studying on a computer. The service was friendly and quick. My avocado toast came out quickly and just hit the spot as a light snack. There are also little breakfast treats and desserts such as muffins, cookies, and brownies you can enjoy here. I didn't have any coffee last time I was here, but my friends really enjoyed the coffee. It's been about a month now since Moonwinks expanded into the bar business. Moonwinks Tavern opened in what what been a jewelry/gift shop adjacent to the café. They offer a nice selection of craft beers (mostly SE Michigan brewed) and cocktails, as well as pizzas, sliders, tacos, and apps. We've tried a couple of pizzas and liked them a lot. Style is thin crust (with thick edges), toppings spare, but flavorful. Pies come personal and shareable sizes, and we find the shareable is just right for a dinner for two. Space is small but clean and light, and there are a number of picnic tables outdoors...would be very pleasant to sit out there on a warm summer evening. Service has been friendly and attentive. I live nearby and appreciate having a cozy neighborhood pub. read more

Parking was easy in shared private lot. Bathrooms gender neutral. Service was quick and good (person who took our order complimented my coat, bagels brought out in a timely fashion by one of the back staff). My vegan bagel was delicious! Warm, toasted, salty, savory... my husband had the lox bagel and liked it as well. Docking a star because the bathroom was a little gross (gnarly plunger receptacle) and I think they could make the sitting space better, a guest tripped over a chair while we were there for example. So definitely a little tougher to maneuver than ideal. read more

Cute little cafe in Dixboro. We stopped here on our Sunday motorcycle ride. Lot of Bicycle riders taking a break from their rides on Plymouth road and people grabbing a bite after Sunday church next doors seem to be regulars here. This is right by the Dixboro project. We just got Fresh Lemonade since we were hot on the motorbike. The barista's and the cashier was very friendly she even exchanged the orange juice for a lemonade for free. I liked the sign and the atmosphere in the cafe! Great stop for every sunday now even for a lunch bite. read more

I asked to have my "Sammy's Best" sandwich on a croissant. O.M.G.--was that croissant the best I think I've ever had (and that includes the ones I had in Paris)!! So yummy!! There were plenty of pastries in the counter that I would have loved to try including macarons, but I stuck with my sandwich. This certainly gives me plenty to explore in a future visit. Service is from a counter, like a coffee shop, but I found this to be a more pleasant experience than a run-of-the-mill coffee shop. I loved that the volume was at a level where we could have a conversation. For nicer weather, there is outdoor seating. I will be back!! read more

It's embarrassing to admit, but my parents literally live down the street from this little gem and I only tried it for the first time this month. I was in town for the weekend and walk down to check it out. It was packed for a Friday afternoon and there was a steady flow of people. It is small, but very cute and cozy. Staff was very friendly. I wish they would stay open longer (and think they would certainly get the business), but I appreciated how they closed at 4pm and never once rushed any of the customers who were in the cafe. I left around 4:15pm and there were still quite a few people in there (I know what it's like to be on the opposite side, as a staff member, but nonetheless, I appreciated their customer service). I got a delicious seasonal drink (Autumn Harvest Coffee) and an orange muffin, and both were delicious.v I will definitely being going back every time I visit Ann Arbor! read more

Ate at the tavern side yesterday. The service was subpar, but even worse was the food. All four of us ordered sandwiches that were mediocre and expensive. The Italiano, was just cold cuts that you can buy from the grocery store. The owner came out when 2 of the sandwiches were not available. He was nice enough, but admitted when the demand is high, he gets certain products in pre-cooked form. You yelpers might know how much I depise factory food. I hear the bakery side is much better and what I saw of the bakery, the items looked good. I often feel sorry for restaraunt owners in dire straights attempting to make a go at their businesses. This business is a sad reflection of the state that many are experiencing. read more

This is a comfortable, casual little sandwich shop with about 8 small tables and two very large ones in addition to outdoor seating. It has a latter-day, post-seventies vibe to me. They have both bagel and traditional sandwiches. I got the vegan chicken sandwich, a lightly fried chicken-ish patty with lettuce, tomato, and red onion slices and an avocado sauce. The rye bread had dark and light swirls and was way better than average. The coleslaw was superb, with just a hint of sauce. Worth a stop, for sure. read more

The menu selection was more than I was expecting for this quaint little shop. The food was served pretty quickly. I loved my Peppermint Tea. It was full of flavor. It's a small area for seating so it makes the noise level a bit loud. But otherwise it is nice and cozy as there are different seating types. I would definitely come back. read more

Adorable cafe in dixboro! We came for brunch on a weekday morning. They serve Hyperion coffee and donuts from djs. The sandwiches were surprisingly good, especially the sausage bagel breakfast sandwich! We topped it all off with some ice cream from guernseys. I was in the area running some errands and saw good reviews for this place, so I decided to order online for pick-up, but as no one apparently approved the order, I was prompted via email to call the restaurant and confirm. When I did (just a few minutes before the originally promised time), the staff on the phone were like "yes it's confirmed?" like somehow I was the one being dumb for asking? And then they told me my order would be finished 15 min later. Okay fine. I get that fielding online orders can be finicky for some places, so I'll excuse the confusion and wait. When it's (the adjusted) time, I walk in, ask for and receive my order - a simple lox bagel sandwich - and go to my car to have a couple bites before I hit the road. And wow, I don't believe I had ever seen a sadder creation. Not only was my bagel extremely small and somewhat disgustingly soft like it had been covered in some wet paper towel for a while, the inside consisted of: a layer of wilted spinach, maybe like 6 capers total, and worst of all, maybe like 3 tiny slices of lox. On top of that, wow, half of the lox is literally this slimy, dull gray. I am fuming. I am gagging. No way am I going to risk food poisoning for this pathetic sandwich I spent almost $10 on. I go back inside and notify the cashier, somewhat apologetically (like for some reason this is all my fault), that the lox is gray and I don't feel safe eating it. He took the box from me, indifferently saying, "yeah we can make it again for you", and turned away. Oh cool! So it didn't concern you at all that your kitchen staff thought it'd be okay to pass on expiring lox to a customer??? Safe to say, between the extremely poor (and unsafe!!!) food experience and the pretty lackadaisical service, I am for sure driving a few miles extra to get my brunch next time. read more

Was so excited that the cafe expanded into a tavern but the food was so disappointing! The portions are really tiny for what you are paying. The loaded tots were pretty pathetic and hardly had anything on them, the short rib sliders were served on a dry bun with no sauce and cold. The servers were all very nice and accommodating, but the food was not worth going back for, especially considering the prices. One other weird thing is that the lights inside were blazing bright in the evening, which is a strange choice for a tavern atmosphere. read more

I used to like this place, they have really good coffee and a decent seating area. The problems mainly come from the staff and quality of business. Most days they close hours before their hours posted online or on the store door claim. Employees seem rude day to day and will some times say they can't make anything even in the middle of business hours. Wouldn't recommend if you want to actually order coffee. What a remarkably cute little find! Cozy is the best way to describe this coffee shop and cafe. We had been at a nature preserve in the area and got a bit hungry so I turned to Yelp to see if there was a place to grab a quick bite in the area and I'm so glad this place popped up. It was a beautiful morning and they have a lovely wrap around deck not unfortunately all of the tables were full so we settled in the corner in a couple of comfortable chairs by a window. It was a great choice since we were right by a Bluetooth speaker that had a fabulous play list going. My husband is a big coffee drinker and loved the different blends they serve. In fact he even got a bag of beans to bring home. We decided to split a breakfast sandwich, the Dix Village on an everything bagel...oh that pesto aoli was so delicious. We also splurged and split a blueberry mini bunt cake with a delicious lemon frosting. Isn't blueberry and lemon the very best flavor combination? This is a very nice and quaint place. The food was probably the best part of the experience. The food tasted surprisingly very fresh and reasonably priced. There was also a small icecream stand/cooler. The bathrooms were clean and interior was well decorated. They also had a verry comfortable parch sitting area. You felt like you were in a small town porch in Maine. Sadly the big down side and what cut our outing short was the porch had this faint but constant and non disapating smell of cat urine/ammonia. It just lingered. Overall we will be back due to the quality of food and ambiance. But mabyee they need a dog lol read more

The service was just okay. For some reason, bunch of other people showed up at exactly the same time that we arrived. Apparently 3:30 p.m. on a Monday afternoon is a very popular time in the summer. They unfortunately were out of the ice cream flavors that we wanted to try. The cheesecake was all right, but not great considering the price that they charged. The ambiance was really good. When you need a switch from the run-of-the-mill coffeehouses and want a cozy spot to catch up with a good friend, MoonWink's delivers. Located at the corner of Dixboro and Plymouth roads, it's convenient to get to from Ann Arbor and boasts ample parking! I visited recently with a friend when we wanted to catch up, and she suggested it. Once I walked in, I was immediately taken in by the warm ambiance, and then saw the desserts. Huge cakes -- carrot, Italian cream, and chocolate -- stacked several layers high and enveloped in what is surely homemade icing. I somehow managed to maintain some self-control and get a delicious lavender tea. My friend and I enjoyed visiting in the friendly, neighborhood environment. We said our goodbyes, and I made a note to come back soon to try the cake! read more
