The employees were friendly and even wanted to check if I liked my drink after they made it (I asked to add honey to make it sweeter). I ordered the Cherry Amaretto Latte with Soy Milk as a hot drink and it was deliciousssss! I want to return and try their other drinks! We were glad they were open on a holiday. read more

I took my visiting mom here on a rainy weekday morning for a light breakfast. The menu is very limited. I was glad to clarify that the egg on the sandwiches was hard boiled and not hot/fresh eggs. I would have been disappointed if I had not asked but it's not very clear from the menu description. The staff wasn't the friendliest. Seemed pretty miserable to be serving anyone and I will leave it at that. We ordered drinks and breakfast with a pastry to share. The bagel with lox was excellent. My mom had a breakfast sandwich that was ok. The pastry was amazing. The coffee was the best. I am not a seasoned coffee drinker but there is a great chart on the wall that explains the different methods for the drink names. It made it easy to choose. There is a little seating area inside. Reading materials are available, if you wish, and it seemed that a few people were there to get some work done on their laptops. A loud woman on a business call with her back to the rest of the room explained why the others there were in big headphones. Seemed like a common occurrence. We enjoyed our nosh and moved on. We needed a light lunch when visiting Dexter on Monday. Be forewarned, very few eateries in Dexter are open on Mondays. This is a simple, small cafe with coffee service and some sandwiches. It seems a place locals can stop in a sit a while though I hear it is busy on the weekends when cyclists come through and kayakers from the Huron too. We ordered some sandwiches and though mine was made with the wrong bread, it was ok. The other items ordered did better so that was just fine. A quiet little place with a wall display from a local artist group that was quite nice too. Parking in the neighborhood was ample for a Monday and though might not be for a weekend, it does seem that they have many customers who arrive by alternative means. This is my go-to spot for working when I'm in the area. A coffee and a bagel with cream cheese, grab a table and pull out the laptop. They have fancier beverage options as well, and I've been told they're good. The walls are covered in local artists' work that's available for purchase, which is nice. To say that the staff hustles is a gross understatement. Even when the line gets long, and it often does, they are cheerful and do good work. This is the only coffeeshop in the area, and the folks in Dexter are fortunate to have it. Thirsty? Well, it's a coffeehouse, so you're in luck. They also have soda, tea, smoothies, and complimentary self-serve water. Hungry? There's a whole slew of sandwiches to choose from, and they all come with one of four side choices. The BLT was outstanding--the bread has just a hint of sweetness, and makes this one of the best BLT's I've had in years. Might be a little something in the mayo too, because it tasted better than usual. I also heard a customer raving about the turkey pesto sandwich, and overheard the cashier say it's their best seller. Tired? Have a seat at one of the many tables inside or outside (weather permitting). They're all taken? Be friendly, and find a seat with a stranger. I noticed two people talking for an hour and a half, laughing up a storm, and heard them say, "It was nice meeting you," as they went their separate ways. In a hurry and need your caffeine for the day? Drop payment in the honor system box, and grab a cup of house coffee to go, or grab a table. The volume of the music is spot-on, but it does get a little loud in here when it's full, so if you're studying or working, keep that in mind. Free Wi-Fi is always appreciated. On a recent trip back East for a friend's bachelorette, my Mom picked me up from DTW and was going to drop me off at our Ann Arbor AirBnB but wanted to grab a cup of coffee beforehand. I found Joe and Rosie's on Yelp and thought we'd give it a try. I ordered an almond milk chai tea latte and my Mom ordered a mocha. My chai had a little kick to it - kind of spicy - but it was tasty and my Mom really enjoyed her mocha. We split a peanut butter chocolate brownie that was so rich and indulgent - it was sinful. Adorable coffee shop! I met a friend for coffee and I was so surprised by this place! They have lots of coffee options, as well as bakery items and sandwiches/wraps/paninis. I ordered an iced latte with sugar free syrup and it was better than Starbucks. I also had the turkey pesto panini with pickles and olives on the side. The panini was a little oily, which I'm sure was because of the pesto. It was very yummy and very filling. I loved the mini pickles and olives as my side, healthy alternative to chips! The service is excellent and they offer free wifi. If you want just a simple coffee, they have an honor bar. Seems like you buy the cup then pay for refills in the money jar. This place is ok. I am a little confused as to how their rating is so high. +$1 Soy milk +$.50 Coconut/Almond milk +$3something for the latte. It was well-priced, but with good reason. The coffee beans used weren't my style. They weren't using a dark roast and the coffee was on the acidic/sour side, not my jam. The coffee also seemed somewhat weak. I already paid for it, so continued to drink it and dumped some honey in it. It also looks as if the apple strudel and the biscottis were bought directly from Costco. Imagine the markup on that. $5.99 for the apple strudel box at Costco with at least 15 in each tray, can't remember what they're charging. $9.99 for a container of biscottis at Costco and they're charging $1.75 each. I went in today with my family during the busiest time of day (12:30) and the line was long but it went by quickly. The Barista behind the counter was amazing with getting orders in and made in a timely fashion. She was very kind and polite and made the experience even better. I ordered the honey cinnamon latte and the Venetian panini. Both were done and sitting in front of me within minutes. And both exceeded my expectations, they were delicious and made very well! The loss of Joe & Rosie's Ann Arbor location is sad... Ann Arbor lost a wonderful spot!! I LOVE having cool authentic British stuff in the area- where else can you get Branston pickle (had to Google it- tried it- not a fan but so happy it's an option!) or marmite (see my description of Branston pickle... same applies here)?? But the real MVP here is the chicken salad sandwich- Joe & Rosie's is one of exactly TWO places that I will order chicken salad at (the other one is Peaberry in Whitmore Lake). I don't like celery and I don't like onions, so finding an amazing chicken salad that doesn't have any of that crap in it is not an easy feat. But oh man does Joe & Rosie's get it right!! Just chicken salad with grapes and green onions (I like green onions, just not regular ones!) and some lettuce... it's a seriously delicious sandwich. The space I like. Exposed brick. Hardwood floor. Large storefront windows that let the light in. The tables have flowers on them. The counter is approachable and the displays are nice. The layout is spacious yet efficient. The two doors (front and side entrances) give the whole place a great flow. The coffee isn't bad either. Their espresso is fairly standard but does the trick. Where for me this place misses the mark is 1) service, 2) music, which may be related to 3) clientele. Every time I've been in here, young women (18-21'ish) are working the counter. They are aggressively assertive/condescending/oud about how their macchiato isn't like a starbuck's macchiato to unsuspecting elderly suburban gentlemen. And yet completely unhelpful when it comes to their tea. I'm all for educating the masses about espresso drinks but to treat a customer like they're an idiot is not the way to do it. And if you're going to be a hot-beverage-guerrilla, then be vigilant about your teas (flavor, steeping time, etc.), too! So the service irks me. The music is intolerable for me as it usually consists of acoustic versions of 1990s rock songs, or Fiona Apple, or other kind of female-fronted easy-listening pseudo-singer-songwriter stuff. Zero personality. Or maybe to be more fair, just not my personality. Clientele is fine but I just get tired of Dexter's small-town-pomp. I guess it's the air of eternal leisure mixed with the delusion of urbanity. The cafe as a whole is solid. I don't come to a coffee shop for the crowd or the music. I come to drink coffee, use the wifi, and have a spot to think. This location is clean, the staff is friendly, and the food is quite good! If you're interested in the ascetics -- wood floors, brick walls, big windows, small tv hanging on the wall. The restrooms are always clean. I typically order a panini sandwich and soup combo, and I have never been disappointed. The turkey pesto panini is absolutely worth every dollar! The soup selection changes daily. I have tried about every hot drink on the menu -- I prefer Americano, and the staff is consistent in preparing the drink I order. If you happen to travel to Dexter, and you need a break, Joe and Rosie's is a great place to stop and relax. read more

Cute, rustic coffee shop right in downtown Dexter on a main corner. I ordered a delicious Chai Tea Latte which was $4 for 20z (decent price to me). Service was quick and kind. I would recommend better signage as their sign is a round circle sticker on the window with an altered ying-yang symbol that is hard to read from a vehicle. Unless, of course, part of the charm is that it's a hidden local gem & you have to know it to KNOW it I clearly saw the "Tea & Coffee" letters on the high windows in front though. There are about a dozen small tables inside, most of which were occupied at 9:15a on a Thursday with laptops & cell users. Also a few optional wrought iron tables outside. The sweet treats & sandwiches all looked wonderful. I didn't try food b/c I'm on a no-sugar, low carbs diet & nothing really suited those personal restrictions. I'll be honest....I came for the free WiFi. I planned on buying my obligatory beverage in exchange for my seat. I was pleasantly surprised at the friendliness of the staff, the speed of the internet, abs the overall atmosphere. Why don't I come here every day? There was a great blend of people sipping coffees while working (plenty of outlets to go 'round) and groups meeting over a hot drink. I felt cozy and at home. I tried the caramel apple pie drink bad I don't know if I've ever had such a decadent cider. #10outof10 I didn't order food, but I sure thought about it. Many people were eating sandwiches and pastries and they looked good! I will have to return and report back on that. If it hadn't been so cloudy and windy I would have loved to enjoy some of their outdoor seating, but as it was, I felt completely content in the cushioned window seat indoors. read more

Came in on Sunday October 13 around 3:00. Had a Macha Bubble Tea almond milk with honey, friend had a Cinnamon infused late ( cafe Miel) it was a year phenomenal job!! I don't know his name but kudos to the young barista for doing and excellent job on top of being polite. I'm from a small town in northern Illinois and my amigo is new to Dexter. We are pretty formidable when it comes to coffee and tea. This place has a great vibe and a nice selection of eats. We will definitely be back to visit, their Mediterranean wrap looks outrageously delicious and their protein bars and chocolates (at register) are an added bonus. I stopped in at Joe and Rosie's during a four-day period in which I had the great pleasure of visiting Compass Coffee in Washington, DC; Mighty Good Coffee in Ann Arbor, MI; and the new Blue Bottle Coffee Company cafe in Berkeley, CA. Each of those three establishments is great; Joe and Rosie's doesn't attempt to play that their level. Nonetheless, Joe and Rosie's is nice enough. One short visit was enough to convince me that it's a wonderful place for groups of people to get together. Further, Joe and Rosie's has a great calming feel, in part because of the low-key friendly hospitality that was offered to this newcomer. When I was asked for my order, I requested a cappuccino "for here." The barista handed me a drink in a tall glass that was visibly more latte than cappuccino. No matter: the drink was perfectly palatable, and it served as a welcome pick-me-up on one of the first fall days that offered a small taste of the coming winter. read more

The parking can be bad depending on when you go since it's downtown. But I usually walk over from where I work, so it's not a big deal. Great location, with shade outside and shelter inside, but fairly basic sandwiches and beverages. One of my go-tos for a lazy bike ride through Dexter, or a walk along Mill Creek Park or the Border To Border trail. Service isn't lightning-fast --- definitely a stop-and-rest rather than quick-refuel place. If I just need some non-Clif Bar calories on a faster ride, I head for the Dexter Bakery. Stopped in here just before a meeting. I couldn't find a Starbucks to save my life and I'm glad now that I couldn't! I should note that the location is nice, parking is ideal, and the decor is pleasant and clean. I got one of the best BLTs of my life. I also ordered a café breve, which was hot and creamy. The two ladies who took care of me at the counter gave me what I felt was attentive, personalized service and I really appreciated that. This is not a "curry in a hurry house". I am fortunate enough to work right across the street from the quaint and yummy Joe and Rosie's Coffee and Tea. Joe and Rosie's is sort of a one stop shop for most of my office. They serve up top notch coffees, teas, and all variety's espresso beverages. Additionally, you will find a fairly unique sandwich menu and a very solid ice cream selection (get a shake...haunting!) What makes Joe and Rosie's Coffee and Tea so special though is the quality of everything they do. I have never had anything that is remotely sub par.
