My wife and I attended performance by our neighbors here .it's a bar in the front and a performance space in the back . It has a old school feel to it and cozy . There was no fee to get in but a bucket was passed around for tips. And the bartender accepts tips also. read more

Truly a spiritual and religious-like experience. A bare bones cash bar up front with a few rotating drafts as well as wines by the glass. If you don't have cash handy, they now started allowing you to send money via Venmo. What a hidden gem!!! Tried to go to another spot for food and drinks but it was packed so I took a stroll in my neighborhood to contemplate my options. I'm an observer. Brooklyn changes in a blink of an eye. A new coffee shop. A new pharmacy. A new Cafe. Something replaces something old. And a space becomes new again. Gentrification! It never stops. Anywho, back to my tale of adventure and discovery. I discovered The Owl Parlor! Guess you could call me a modern day Columbus. It's been there for 4 years but they have select hours and open days. I stumbled upon this warm and inviting live music venue and bar on a Saturday evening. It had warm lighting, a friendly bartender, the owner was also nice and a decent size space and stage for life music sets. Initially I was alone and then people started to tickle in. Before my cider was done, the place was full. Bustling with local Brooklynites, visitors, and lovers of music. I didn't stay for the music. That place was my in- between but I'd go back. They had cocktails, a wine and beer selection including cider. No food though. That's pretty much why I left. If you give music. A creative space and a laid back atmosphere in PLG? Stop in. Cool music venue and bar. There is a stage in the back room with seating for at least 30. If the back room is full, you can still hear the music from the bar area though you might not be able to see the show. Bartender was a one man show but managed to serve pretty quickly despite the bar being busy. Just three beers on tap but I believe they were all craft. Only a handful of whiskeys but they had some bangers like Aberlour 12 at $13 for the pour. They certainly embrace quality of options over quantity of options! read more

Lovely music in a relaxed, friendly location. The front area is sit down and listen while the back is mix and mingle. There's a pass the pail suggested donation but it's reasonable, especially compared with Manhattan clubs and it goes to the musicians who thoroughly deserve it. read more

Rude bartender and he was struggling to make a drink. Used dirty cups to serve wine and beer. Music had just started and they decided to "shhh" my friend and I even though there were other people talking as well. Didn't feel right that we were the only people of color and he decided to shush us. Got up and left. Will never return. read more

The owner/manager of this bar is rude and passive aggressive. A few friends and I were having a conversation at the bar while musicians were playing behind the curtain in the back room. Sitting at the opposite end of the room, he proceeds to shush us very loudly, without actually addressing us. Then gives us this super peeved look. ITS A BAR, DUDE. If you want to keep it quiet you should put up signs, or put a door between the two rooms or don't have a bar in front of your music venue, but don't shush your customers. read more

Absolutely amazing. Best small venue in Brooklyn I've been to by far, maybe ever. Real music, almost feels like a sacred space. Another perfect evening at The Owl. This has become my favorite room in the city to hear music. An artist-run venue done right: all monetary donations go to the musicians, perfect sound, amazing programming, etc . . . The Owl is a gem where you can see world-class musicians in an intimate setting. I wouldn't call it the ideal bar to converse and catch-up with friends, but there's obviously enough bars in Brooklyn to do that. This place is a gem. The Owl keeps the spirit of gone-but-not-forgotten venues like Knitting Factory (original), Tonic, The Stone... A great array of talent and a good vibe. Best music venue in nyc at the moment. Incredibly curated music. Great jazz, intimate setting, attentive and quiet audience. Only open 3 nights a week, and sets are early - over by 11 or so. Skip those big music venues and 'Sofar' crap, the owl music parlor is a great music experience. The venue is intimate,really affordable, and the crowd that gravitates there generate good vibes. what a splendid treat to find the owl! it's just the right size for music fans with just the right amount of booze to appreciate music with. we went on a jazzy, bluesy night and sat in the back w/our beer and whiskey. there were just enough seats to keep things intimate (no more than 50?). check their calendar often. little gems pop by all the time. but bring cash... no cards at this place. read more

Nice, dimly lit, intimate venue. Good liquor and beer options. There's room at the bar for having some drinks and then also a music venue in the back, where their lineup can be seen on their website. Good acoustics and lighting, and some awesome paintings on their walls, but boy did they pick some of the most uncomfortable wooden chairs I've ever sat on for the audience to use. Change that, or add some seat cushions, and my review would easily go up to 5 stars! read more

The Owl is an incredible space. I was not expecting what I got when I walked in. It is small and cozy with great live music. The top two words I would choose to describe the atmosphere are authentic and intimate. It's a rare gem to find this kind of place in the noise of NYC and I have been back several times since the first because of that. If you want to listen to great music and drink tastefully chosen drinks then definitely go to the Owl. You might even make a few new friends there!! read more

A warm comfortable living room sized music venue with some excellent and uncommon beers. A very welcome addition to the area.

This place is a true gem! Have been a couple times now, and it always feels like a perfect night out there. To begin- the decor is beautiful, tasteful, understated, sexy vibe, with vintage candelabra sconces that are mixed and matched, dim lighting, some antique mirrors...The people who work there are always friendly and sweet, but also cool. Last time I heard an amazing Moroccan gnawa group, and the club was much more filled up than the last time. The music was incredible. The Owl seems to have great and diverse curating, often with no cover ;) I love their wines too. And I disagree with the guy who thought drinks were expensive, there seems to be a friendly range. From $6 on up for booze. Oh! I don't really drink beer, but my friend was raving about the craft beer. They support local and indie co.s and don't go for corporate bevs like many bars. Just checked out their website calendar and looks like some interesting heavy hitters coming up. Thanks Owl MP for existing!
