Absolutely beautiful restaurant and fantastic large outdoor dining area which is great on a nice sunny day dining by the canal. The food is always at a high standards and having eaten there several times now I can say I've eaten a lot from the main menu and have never had any problems whatsoever. The staff are attentive, polite and even spark into some friendly conversation which is nice. They have a reasonable lunch time offer for 2 course or three course meals. They also offer pre-theatre menus too. Can't fault the place.

You will find greenery running all upside the walls as well as a fantastic view of the canal. In the evening the ambience inside is also great. Reservations are available but you can usually get in without too much of a wait time. On this occasion I ordered a spinach and mushroom crepe which was fantastic! It's probably my favourite vegetarian dish that they do. It's a sensible portion that leaves you satisfied. For dessert I ordered the praline crepe which was again fantastic. You generally find with dessert crepes that they can do no bad no matter where your buying it from. Cotes crepes are above standard in terms of quality with a light pancake and not overly sweet praline feeling. For me in particular this restaurant shines in the summer. The cocktails are great and the dining experience is unique.

It's a bit difficult to find upstairs but it's well appointed and the view of the castle is pretty legit. We tried a couple of apps, both of which were good but the fish and chips were dialed in! Extra crispy chips and nice big piece of fish were complimented by classic mushy peas and a house made tartar sauce. The service was impeccable to top things off. If you are in the area, you should definitely add this to the list of places to try.

Great views and atmosphere can't make up for embarrassing, Aunt Bessie's quality roast…read more Came to The Ivy expecting a refined Sunday roast, but left wondering if I'd accidentally paid £29 for something reheated from the freezer aisle. The roast potatoes were dry, dense, and suspiciously uniform, Aunt Bessie's on an off day. Yorkshire puddings were flavourless and hollow, with that telltale mass-produced texture. Vegetables were minimal and uninspired. The lamb was unseasoned and tough. For a restaurant with The Ivy's name and reputation, this felt rushed, joyless, and deeply underwhelming. No real flavour payoff, and no sign that anyone in the kitchen had any pride in the food they send out. Feels all the more jarring given how beautiful the setting is. This was less "elegant brasserie" and more "supermarket ready-meal with better lighting". I wouldn't return for the roast -- and I wouldn't recommend it.
