Took my grandson to see Diary of A Wimpy Kid by the Eau Clair Children's Theatre. What a great theater and musical performance was amazing.

Our kids performed in many shows there. I had heard about inappropriate conduct with the sound guy…read moreand girls a few times but didn't really know the skinny because I wasn't on the board and I didn't really participate in the parent-actor discussion. Then when our child experienced it, we tried to address it. The reaction was appalling. What kind of weirdos do they let work with kids!?!? I did some digging after I tried to reason with them about their complacency only to find out this nonprofit charged its adult volunteer actors $25 for a script but didn't bother to run a $7 background check. YIKES! One of them had a sexual assault charge at one point when I looked them up on CCAP. We encouraged them to remove the people who were being erronious and even we offered to help raise funds to have background checks taken care of for the actors for free but the director said it wasn't necessary and his former board member agreed. Instead, they told my kid (at a childrens theatre) that if he felt unsafe, he should leave. WHAT???? We allowed our kids to finish the current show and I didn't let my kids out of my sight for the duration. Soon after the show concluded and we pulled or kid, I found out that the scenery guy was talking inappropriately about sexual relationships to one of the young teen girls. When I asked about it, pages of instant message conversation between her and a 36 yo man who played many of the lead roles was fowarded to me and I provided them to the police. Three of the men volunteers were eventually kicked out but only after they found out that another mother and I were going public with WEAU. Unfortunately, the situation didn't get much air time because covid hit that week. That was unfortunate. But several women and a few parents came forward after our story aired and thanked us. Their stories were sad and unresolved because they too had issues as children with one of the men we turned in, addressed it and were shunned. At this point of my kids now becoming an adult, so I won't bar him from participating if he chooses to got back and audition. I write this review for parents. I strongly caution parents to be present with their children during auditions, rehearsals and shows (back stage). It is not a daycare, it is a place of business. The director will tell you that! Their first concern is financial gain. You are responsible for your kid. Not them. Keep your kids close to you. Follow your gut and don't be one of those parents that will sell their kid out for a lead roll. They don't need adult volunteer actors and staff callling them on the phone and interacting with your minor child on social media in a private message EVER, for ANY reason. This should be a policy like it would be at any other nonprofit child affilitated facility, but it isn't. We have had great feedback from some of the parents thanking us for standing up to the board and its director. Unfortunately, this facility has misssed out on some FANTASTIC talent throughout the years because of how they behave. We know one girl inparticular that will only do CVTG shows because Wayne made her cry when she was 6. She is now going onto college with a full scholarship and may one day be an opera singer.

A group of my teenage friends went to Reboot and enjoyed a very nice meal with a very nice server…read more When we finished our meal, my group was discussing how much we were tipping. We split our checks, and our meals were around $13-$17. Three out of six of us tipped over $20, one paid for her $8 meal with a $10 bill and told the server to keep the change, one tipped less than $20, and one didn't get anything. In context, our discussion was about trying to one-up each other with our tips, and a random server, with no context, said something along the lines of, "If you guys are going to be tipping low, I suggest you don't speak so loud." We explained that we were not tipping low, but she then reported us to the manager on duty. We thanked our server for helping us, and before heading downstairs, we were discussing our tips while passing the manager. The manager stopped us and said that we didn't have to be rude and that we shouldn't be rude to her servers or we would be kicked out. I explained to her that we were not being rude, that we tipped her server well, and that we appreciated Reboot since the majority of us have been there often. I then explained that we were not trying to be rude to her or her servers, and I apologized if she felt that way. I explained that we would be downstairs hanging out and having fun if that was alright with her. She disregarded everything I said and repeated that if we kept being rude, we would be kicked out. We headed downstairs, and the darts were broken, which wasted many of our tokens, but we did not want to bother the staff more than we clearly already had, so we spent the rest of the night playing pool. I have never had a bad experience at Reboot until now and feel like, as customers, our feelings were not heard. We did tip well and feel as though we were being stereotyped for being teenagers. We believe it wasn't right for the other server to be rude to us or report us to her manager, especially out of context. The server that did help us we thanked him for his service and told him to have a nice night.
