Really love the vibe here! Was staying at the hotel so it was convenient to just come eat (plus they give you a BOGO drink token with your stay). It was only the restaurant week menu. Food was solid, I was most impressed with the drink and atmosphere though, which I loved! It was also open mic night!

Wonderful place for breakfast! Great atmosphere, food, and service. We didn't wait long till someone asked what we'd like to drink as well as food. Waitress was great to give recommendations on items they liked as well as other customers liked. Food came out quickly and was delicious! Looking forward to coming back on our next trip to Chippewa Falls!

Eau Claire, Wi. This place is located in the Ox Bow Hotel and has kind of an upscale vibe. We came for an early dinner so we were seated immediately. The simple salad was just that, small and simple with fresh greens and a very tasty vinaigrette. The asparagus soup was amazing with a dab of lemon garlic creme fraiche. The hamburger was on the small plates menu but it was a normal size burger. The burger was delicious but probably does not make my top ten. The puck was cooked a perfect medium well. The meat had a fine grind which gave it a very tender yet unusual texture. The taste of the 1/2 inch patty was excellent, probably premium beef. The brioche bun was not protected on the bottom by a leaf of lettuce so it got a bit soggy. The lettuce was shredded and piled above the puck and had very little function, taste or moisture control. The grilled mushrooms were a real plus, rich tasting and not mushy. Swiss cheese was ample but not overpowering, The chicken pot pie: So good. No it doesn't come out in an aluminum pie tin, but rather a very nice pastry shell. Featured really fresh veges and shredded chicken in a very light gravy. Again, an item from the small plates menu that was not at all small. Chocolate cake was dense but not too sweet. On top, a toasted creme anise chantilly. On the side a coffee simple syrup. A nice chocolate dessert experience. The waitress asked "How is everything tasting?" I really hate that. But she only asked once and was so sweet she gets a pass, even if she forgot my wife's coffee. This was good because the wife realized it would be unwise to have coffee at that hour. Upon return for Fathers Day brunch we both ordered quiches, meat and meatless versions. They were unlike any quiche I have ever tried, thick egg pie with no discernible cream or cheese that makes a typical quiche so good. Stephanie took both quiches and ate the topping off them. I summoned the waiter and ordered an omelette with smoked trout. The egg was thin and almost crepe like. Lots of spinach in there but not at all objectionable. I enjoyed it. I fully expected to pay for my quiche. However they deducted the cost of my quiche AND did not charge me for the omelette. A magnanimous gesture indeed.

Totally enjoyed this restaurant! Service, ambiance, quality of food, and entertainment.

We went here for dinner and I had the best walleye I have ever had. My wife had the sampler plate and it was delicious.

TLDR: creative cocktail and good menu with a Wisconsin twist…read more I brought my group of 8 family and friends here and everyone loved what they ordered! The menu features a lot of local Wisconsin produce and Wisconsin favorites with a twist, like Baked Cheese Curds (the tomato jam is SO GOOD) and Portobello Poppers with a wild rice and cheddar filling (it was so tasty I couldn't believe it was vegetarian!). Everyone really liked the Chicken Fried Rabbit (obviously, not our veg friend lol). The buttermilk-brined rabbit leg was so juicy and tender. The red cabbage slaw on the side was a perfect pairing. The Candied Pork Belly just melted in my mouth, no joke! And I love that it was seasoned with hoisin sauce and came with some baba ghanoush, which you'd think wouldn't go together--but it so does. For my main, I had the Grilled Ribeye and my bf had the Roasted Lamb. Both were cooked to perfection (medium rare) and both were phenomenal! The chimichurri on the side had some sweet kick to it but the steak didn't even need it bc it was plenty flavorful and tasty. The lamb was so tender and the mint gelee was *chef's kiss*. The Great Lakes Walleye was served on a nice tomato confit brodo and my bf's parents absolutely loved how imaginative it was. We all thought it'd just come out with a side of potatoes or something but the presentation blew us away AND they said it was very lovely. The kids loved their How 'Bout Them Apples pizza, which wouldn't have been my first choice (apples on pizza?!) but it did look tasty! For drinks, I ordered the Seamus (which is basically an old fashioned with Irish whiskey) and my partner ordered the Watermelon Mojito. I couldn't believe he liked the Seamus bc he usually hates old fashioneds but tbf it was a very well balanced cocktail! His Watermelon Mojito was refreshing and yummy (but a little too sweet for me). My bf and our friend both loved it tho! We'll definitely be back again the next time we pass thru Eau Claire!!

I think we had approximately 20 people and a couple joined last minute. I know this is not ideal for servers, but it worked out well and again, we so appreciate it! The Informalist was super convenient since many of us were staying at the Lismore Hotel. Since this restaurant is located in the lobby, it was just super easy and the menu has something for everyone. We ordered from both the pizza and regular dinner menu and many of us shared a bit of everything! The truffle fries may have been the biggest hit of all, so don't miss out on those! Pizza is fabulous too. We saw elote fries, a burger, caesar salad, steak and so many other things at our table. My favorite pizza was the Yellow Jacket, which includes red sauce, mozzarella, cheddar cheese, pepperoni, and spicy honey. My least favorite item was the salmon crudo, but the salmon entree was not bad. Ambiance is hip and trendy and feels a bit fancy, but we were all dressed casually. Interesting due to the name of the restaurant, but it works! If back in the area, I'd absolutely return. Enjoy!

This was while multiple other parties who arrived after us were served their food, ate, paid and left. It was quite obvious they forgot to submit the order or the kitchen lost the ticket. These things happen and I would never fault someone for an accident when they acknowledge and apologize. But they acted like nothing was wrong when I asked (after 35 minutes of waiting), and I was also quite surprised that they didn't offer any discount or food while we waited. You get an RFID card tied to your credit card, and you pay by the ounce based on what you pour. Seat yourself, scan the table QR code, verify it, and pull up the menu to order. Looks can be decieving. I started with several small 1-2 ounce pours which I took to my table. Both tasted off - like the glass still had soap/disinfectant or the tap lines haven't been cleaned. I thought Id turn to the food and revisit beers in a few. Once I scanned the QR code, it took a full 2 minutes to recognize it, then spun for a while before loading the table. I accidentally went back and had to start over. For an app based restaurant, you would expect open wifi; it required a password which I didn't see anywhere. When I finally pulled up the menu and ordered, the list was equally underwhelming. My dinner companion from work and I both ordered wraps, which for a low-interaction service setting were surprising high priced since they came with no sides - roughly $16 each - but sides like tots could be added for $4. Im going to guess, generously, that my buffalo chicken wrap had 1.5 to 2 tenders cut up in it. At least the fries didnt disappoint, but the tots had a weird chicken seasoning like coating. Bob - my dining company - has tried more than 180 IPAs based on his untapped app record. He tried 8 samples and couldnt find one that tasted good or right. I had a similar sampling. In the end, I decided to try Michelob Ultra - the beer with the least taste I could think of - and poured a few ounces in a plastic, disposable cup and a few in their glassware. I was hoping to identify the source of the sour, off-taste on ever line we tried. Although I still couldn't decide if the kitchen disinfectant or the tap lines were the source, I can say the two samples, tapped at the same time, tasted different. Neither was good. I had high hopes when I walked in. I wont be back.
