We are joining the growing crowd of unhappy customers. We put a deposit down in June for cabinet painting and we completely understood that things were moving slow due to COVID so we've been patient. On Monday this week (8/30), we received a voicemail from Kia saying we needed to choose a color and they have us booked to start our job on Monday Sept 6. I called her back and left a voicemail...nothing. Texted her... nothing. Now in addition to my calls to her, we've called the main number and got a full voicemail box. Texted it...nothing. Called and texted our sales rep...nothing. Getting the feeling we've been had, we found all of these glowing yelp reviews and realized we were right. Now we will try and get our deposit back and will contact a lawyer if/when necessary. If others plan on taking the legal route, it may be easier for us to work together with a lawyer so we don't spend more on legal costs than we stand to get back from the company - if a refund is even possible. And the website is down, so that's cool. So to new prospective customers, learn from these reviews and STAY AWAY! ***Update 9/6*** We received a call from the company on Friday 9/3 saying our job had been cancelled and they were refunding our deposit. With the holiday weekend, we haven't seen any pending refund, but I'll update this review when we do. ***Update 9/26*** We've filed a dispute with our bank because Paint Doctor hasn't issued any refund at all. Out of fairness, I'll update this if anything else happens regarding a refund from the company... but I'm not holding my breath. read more

UPDATE On January 5th, 2022 Ronnie Bowen sent my wife and I $350.00 through Venmo. Today, January 23rd, 2022 I FINALLY received the balance ($435.00) of my deposit from Ron Bowen's Paint Doctor LLC after more than 2 years for work that was never performed. Ron called me a piece of shit today!!!!!!!!! I don't like to write these kind of reviews but I'm sorry but people deserve to know. These people are horrible we worked for them since March and Ron promised that he would do so much to help us prosper in our journey because me and my husband just opened up our own company in January. So we started subbing work at first it was pretty good until my husband had to go fix a job someone else messed up he worked his butt off to everything to fix the issues... which he did, but to this very day we still have not gotten paid for that job. I have lived at my apartment for almost 4 years and have always paid on time but since March I've gotten 2 file to evict notices because Ron doesn't pay on time. When he does pay by the time I pay our guys and bills we are broke again and this happened everytime. I begged him to pay us what we we're owed and he blocked me so did Tanya. I had to download an app to be able to text him and then had to change the number 3 times to get a response. He called me a piece of shit because he said we don't deserve the pay he even called the cops on me and my husband when we went to get our check. I have 2 young kids and almost lost my apartment he is not a nice person and he lies. He is driving a brand new Mercedes SUV and just finish signing on a new house and also hiring new people but told me he didn't have the money to pay us at the moment. We spent since March helping this company and this company and making customers happy and never had an issue with any customer About our work except for one but we went back immediately and fixed the problems. All we wanted was the money that we were owed he paid almost all of it frighteningly today but still owes the $800. So please be aware working for this company is not a good idea and also getting work done by this company is also not a good idea because they take people's deposits and don't refund them if they don't do the work. I reached out on March 3 to get an estimate. They popped up on my Facebook and it seemed like a good company. The gentleman came out the next day to provide an estimate. Friendly, professional. No issues there! I was satisfied with the estimate and decided to move forward and put 1/3 down (powerwash and 6 shutters repainted). On March 14- still nothing from the company about scheduling, reached out and told them I put a down payment down and nothing has been scheduled, that I wanted to check, not in a hurry but to at least have it scheduled. He said ok we can do the power wash on March 18. He said he never saw my deposit/ job and that it must of slipped through the cracks. No call, no cancellation, no show. Reached out again 3/19, advised them no one showed up. I get a message back 'someone will call you.' Get a call and am advised my quote is wrong (but in my favor!), that they don't remove shutters just paint them. I said ok, not an issue. So we move forward to schedule. We can be there April 1st for the powerwash and paint. It really was a joke. On 3/30 I get a call and at first he says to schedule your powerwash to which I said I have my paint and powerwash scheduled for 4/1. He then said, you're job is too small (dollar wise) for paint so we aren't going to do it. We can still send someone to powerwash. I declined and asked for a full refund. I've been patient and easy going but a whole month before you realize this is not a job worth your time? Very unprofessional and unorganized. If your paint job isn't over $1000 they will drop you, and if they quote you for shutter removal and install, they do not do that. read more

They did a good job on our cabinets but are terrible with their warranty work. Our paint is cracking and bubbling in spots and I have contacted multiple times to get it fixed. Let me tell you about The Paint Doctor LLC/ Mr Powerwash ... STAY AWAY FROM THEM! Do NOT waste your money or time because they don't want to help you after they leave your home. They will ignore your requests, ignore any issues you bring up and will DENY any wrong doing on their part. One example: Here is a piece of shoe molding (white trim) that was removed recently (after they installed it) when we had our floors replaced and that piece there with the green tape was used to "fill in" a small gap between the step and the base of the step. I showed the owner a picture and he denied it was them! I then showed him other pictures with the SAME color tape they used here and never heard from him again. That was 2 weeks ago. And please, for the love of God, never pay them in advance. We learned that the hard way I'm doing this because when I comment on their page or pictures, they ignore me. if anyone would like more info about my issues or have any advice, please let me know. We do have a lawyer but hoping they'd stand up to this issue and stop ignoring us so we don't have to go that route. Just one of the many problems faced with this company. read more

BUYER BEWARE: We initially paid them the 1/3 payment (around $1700) for painting the kitchen cabinets with the understanding that we can cancel within 7 days if we did not want to proceed. We changed our mind 3 days later and requested a refund. It took multiple phone calls and email attempts for them to respond with a one-word response saying "Received". However, it has been 10 days since then and have not yet received a refund or any response. Phone calls go to a full voicemail with no response back. I hope we can have a resolution soon!! read more

Two days prior to my contracted date, (8/11/21) they called me to postpone to the following week. Then they were a no-show. I called to request a full refund. They were more than happy to take my money but took FOREVER to get an appointment to come get my cabinets doors and then they never showed up. I am now thankful they didn't come because who knows when I would have ever gotten my cabinet doors back and really questioning the workmanship I would have received. I decided to have my cabinets painted which is much cheaper than buying new. Lonnie gave us a quote which I felt was reasonable. She answered my many questions, very knowledgeable about the process. Dennis an Carrie began the painting which couldn't have gone better. They were both very friendly and we were comfortable with their knowledge and work ethic. Bottom line.....I would recommend The Paint Dr to my family and friends as I just love my cabinets. I went from wood to Chantilly lace which totally changes the look of my kitchen. I wouldn't even give them ONE star at this point! Quoted a job on our living room ceiling 2 weeks ago, 9/26/20 to be exact, paid a $140.00 cash deposit. My husband was quoted, PER CONTRACT mind you, $525.00 with 20% FB Promo to Paint Living Room Ceiling, which includes all sanding, prep work & masking. Sherwin Williams paint included. So they called my husband yesterday, 10/8/20, to finally ask about the color of paint. That was it. Guy shows up this morning (ONE guy!), and starts looking at the ceiling; at this point my husband knows something isn't right. Guy says...ALL I'M HERE TO DO IS PAINT! I don't mud, tape or anything like that. He left! Husband calls PAINT DOCTOR, talked to JIM (someone in charge(?) and Jim basically says...oh well; we underestimated. Now we want $900! THESE PEOPLE ARE SCAMMERS!!!!!!!!!! They approached us to paint our cabinets and we decided to go along with it because Paul seemed legit and trustworthy. They told us they wouldn't be able to start anything until the end of September. About 2 weeks ago we received a message that they were able to come the same week to begin work. I received a TEXT MESSAGE today that they "are going out of business" and "won't be able to complete the work". We need to apparently come to pick up our cabinets and they will issue a refund but "that will take some time". No one will respond anymore and the 5 different phone numbers on their website either have mailboxes that are full or are no longer in service. I am now in the process of considering taking legal action to deal with these scumbags. If they do happen to open back up for business, DO NOT TRUST THESE PEOPLE!!!!! The Paint doctor LLC called after I've been trying to get my cabinets back and my money for several months. They did bring my cabinet panels back dumped them on my porch and left. Finally, the next day I called and requested the cabinet panels to be installed as they took them down, they were installed but many of the panels are clearly damaged. My kitchen has been in total disarray for several months. I could not have my family for Thanksgiving. This is horrible. Be warned, please don't be tricked and do business here. My next step is a demand for payment and repair of the damaged cabinets. I will go to court to resolve this matter. read more

I previously posted a negative review of Mr. Bowman's business regarding a refund for home improvements that unfortunately due to COVID and insurance issues could not be provided by his company. I had difficulty getting a hold of him. When I finally did, he agreed to refund my money, which was a deposit of $1517.00. He asked for time to do so as well as reminders each week to do so. I sent only one reminder and Mr. Bowman regularly sent money to me. This past Friday, he paid the remaining balance. I cannot speak for the quality of work he provides, but I can see he kept his word and refunded my entire deposit. I am appreciative of that and respect him for keeping his word. Ok so I had a consultation in July with a representative from this company. Thought it was a great idea to have my cabinets painted by them and gave them a deposit of $1080.00 for them to start. Since we are working in covid situation they couldn't start working on my cabinets until September 5th. I found a company that was able to do my cabinets the next week. I called the company to cancel my appointment and ask for a refund. They told me that it would take 7 to 10 business days for my refund. I never received my refund in that time period. So I emailed the company and Toni responded to my email stating that he see I am do a refund and will have it to me in 7 to 10 days. I waited and still no check was sent to me. I emailed Toni back and he responded a fee days later stating the company accounts are under investigation for fraud and they had to close all accounts. He said once the accounts are fixed they will send me my refund. I was last week by Toni that my refund will be processed and sent to me in the early part of the week and he will let me know when it is sent out. I never got a follow-up email last week about my refund. I been emailing Toni for the last two days without a response. This company is trying to rip me off and they don't have a good line of communication. My next step will be to take them to court. read more

If I could give a negative star rating I would. I agree 100% with all of the unsatisfied customers who've posted reviews. The company's business practices are very unsatisfactory and they are very unresponsive when trying to communicate with them when issues arises. We paid a deposit for a paint job for the interior of our home, they cancelled/rescheduled the day before they were to come out. On the rescheduled day no one showed up so we called and were asked if we were sure the appointment was confirmed. We said yes because you were the ones who reached out to us to confirm. They said they would contact the painter to see where he was and call us back. No call back ever came. I ended up calling them back and they said "I PROMISE you'll receive a call back by the end of the day". Again nothing. I was finally able to speak to someone and said I wanted a refund they said OK and would process the paperwork for the refund that day, needless to say I'm still waiting. RUDE and UNRELIABLE!!! I found them through a FB advertisement. It took two days to answer my first question and 2 weeks two answer my second...like do you work in my town and "How does getting an estimate work?". When an actual conversation started (after two weeks) I was told estimates were via face time. I do not have face time on any of my devices. My husband agreed we should find a company that does estimates in person. Before I dismissed them completely I asked if they could come out explaining that I minimize use of technology don't have "face time" also that I keep the camera covered on my computer (I am that girl). I was told in person appointments are available and we settled on 1:30 today (Wednesday, June 17, 2020). At 1:30 I got a call. I explained the problem with that and was told he was at another place doing an estimate but he could be here in an hour he would call his boss and call me back. After not getting a call I sent a FB message (from my PC...um no messenger app BTW) explaining my irritation and someone immediately called my phone and left a message saying due to covid they only virtual estimates are available. I explained in another FB message (which he call texts) that I stayed home all day, I have confirmation of a home visit (and it was right there in the same thread). I have more than one written confirmation. If I had seen his pompous obnoxious commercial I never would have thought to give them my business in the first place but I did not see it and I did try. Not only did it take weeks to answer an inbox and they no showed an appointment that they confirmed numerous times but I had it explained to me that they did not want my business and a "VVM" message was left THIS MORNING... I don't know what that is and if it is real I don't have it...so more lies and too late. I was told clearly I could do face time because I could text (what an idiot, phones could text before facetime was a thing and FB had inbox before messenger was a thing and as I explained to this ignorant man in the first place I don't have the app). Homeowners Beware Before Contracting with Ron Bowen or The Paint Doctors! On December 22, 2017 we contracted Ron Bowen and Paint Doctors to sand, prime and paint our kitchen and bar cabinets. My husband is a licensed contractor and we very rarely hire anyone to do anything in our home, we do most renovations ourselves. Due to this being a labor-intensive messy project, right before Christmas, we put our trust in Ron and The Paint Doctors. We very much regret this decision. Two days after the completion of the project, the paint on the cabinets begin chipping and flaking off because the cabinets were never primed and insufficiently sanded. Mr. Bowen assured us that everything was fine the paint needed time to "cure". The cabinets continued chipping and flaking. Mr. Bowen and company came back to our home in February 2018 to "correct the problem". Their correction entailed painting over the chips, leaving an uneven surface, and spray painting from cans, in my home, a clear polyurethane in an effort to prevent the paint from chipping further. They did not open windows, have an air scrubbing machine and clearly were grasping at straws trying to correct the issue. My children, pets and I had to evacuate our home due to the fumes. When they said they were going to spray I assumed as professional painters they would be using a paint sprayer not spray paint. We allowed them to attempt to finish the project over our children's spring break at which time we would be out of town. Again, assured the project would be completed correctly. We arrived home after a week to find our home in complete disarray, plastic hanging all over the kitchen, a thick layer of dust and dirt everywhere, the project not even close to finished correctly. In April 2018 Mr. Bowen and Paint Doctors once again came to "fix the problems". Prior to them arriving we retrieved from the paint manufactures website clear instructions how to refinish cabinets with their product, "sand, PRIME and paint". It was clear to us, Mr. Bowen had little to no knowledge how to properly refinish cabinets. We brought this to his attention and Mr. Bowen assured us he would be doing the work himself and one of his employees we felt did not know what he was doing would not be doing the work. Mr. Bowen arrived with said employee and proceeded to sit on a bench in our kitchen on his phone the entire time while his employee painted the cabinets. After three days of excuses, attempted fixes, multiple paint changes, primer over paint, paint on top of that, the cabinets and doors were irreversibly damaged. Over the course of several months we have consulted with other licensed paint contractors, general contractors, the Store Manager of Sherman Williams, the Store Manager of Benjamin Moore, experts in the paint industry, and customer service representatives from the paint manufacturer. The conclusion that was consistent with all our research was that the cabinets had to be stripped down to the bare wood and repainted or completely replaced. The stripping process is toxic and creates noxious fumes and an unhealthy environment inside in the home. Thus, replacement of the cabinets was the only real option. Currently as of August 24, 2018 we are left with $30,000 in ruined cabinetry, celling drywall that needs repair from them hanging plastic and ripping off the tape, paint on our moldings and floor in our kitchen and bar areas. Over the course of the last 4 months, May to August, Mr. Bowen has admitted both in phone conversations, emails and text messages he is responsible and will reimburse our initial contract money and also pay for damages to replace the cabinetry. However, he has failed to reimburse our money, make any agreed upon restitution toward damages, and refuses to respond to phone calls, texts, or emails. Mr. Bowen and The Paint Doctors is contracting with people to paint their cabinets with no proper knowledge as to how to paint them correctly. read more

By far one of the worst sales jobs I have worked. Very money hungry and oriented. False claims to be serving for customers, however every customer gets a different price for the same job. Some pay more and some pay less based off how well you can negotiate. Stay firm with the price you want and you will get it on a slow sales week when they will throw "crazy deals." Then as a sales rep you'll get reprimanded for underselling a job that was a crazy deal. Claim to have a 5 star guarantee while having a large amount of unhappy customers that don't want to leave a review just to not have to deal with the company anymore pestering them to remove it, which has happened. Upon leaving the company all my estimates had to be 're-estimated' as a way for the company to overcharge a customer and a way to create an excuse to not have to pay me. Claiming they are way under estimated while they are priced at the same price I was trained and coached under. Personally I would not recommend this company. Professionally I would recommend finding another painting company that offers the same service at a more affordable price. If you want a good deal, ie an estimate of 10k and they make it 7k for a 4k job but you're getting 3k off, that's a hell of a deal. If you plan on working in a toxic working environment where your commissions are sent to other employees who then owe you money they "never got," then this is a job for you. The benefits for driving in your own vehicle for nearly 120 miles a day are no gas cars, no mileage reimbursement and a congratulatory nice job you made the sale.
