The Palace really isn't that great. It is located in an industrial area of Edmonton and the outside of the building is run down. The inside is nice, which shocked me, given the disrepair outside. After attending a graduation at this venue, I would recommend that you look into other options for a large event. The food they served was atrocious. Recently had my wedding banquet at the Palace, and can say that I was left very pleased, with a great impression. The Palace was once a bowling alley, so it's very spacious. We needed room for around 300 people and the Palace not only accommodated that, they had plenty of room to space. The staff was friendly and helpful when needed, the food was fantastic, and the space itself is beautiful. Roger - the man who runs the Palace - is extremely nice, and was happy to bend over backwards for us. We couldn't have asked for a more helpful caterer. If you're planning a big event - especially a large wedding - the Palace is absolutely worth checking out. read more

Was just there for the Latino Canadian Chamber of Commerce Awards Gala last night. I think it's the 3rd year the event has been held at the Palace Banquet Hall. The Taliani family recently took ownership (sometime last year?) but I can say the place has only gotten better and better! Food last night was delicious! Stuffed chicken breast with brie cheese and cranberries was simply amazing - the dessert was a mint chocolate mousse or cheesecake? I don't know - I scarfed it down - as the evening's Emcee I ate randomly when I had a quick moment in between performances etc. Great job Palace Banquet Hall - with attendance of over 250 people, we still found the service was top notch, the facility renovations continue to improve the classiness and elegance of the venue - the lighting is regal and the experience continually 5 stars! read more

My wife and I recently had our wedding at this venue in January 2016. This review will be cut throat but honest. We hope in reading this review you will see the pros and numerous cons of this hall. We originally signed our contract in March 2015 after my friend got married at this hall a year earlier. My friend and his wife said they were amazing how ever they signed their contract with the previous owners, the hall switched ownership to the current owners who honored their contract. We had the hall reserved for up to 300 people which came in at $65 a head. The hall had lights on the surrounding walls which added a nice extra quality my wife and I loved. He lights came in numerous different colors to fit your wedding colors perfectly. The hall had drapes along the walls which soaked up the light perfectly. They had two large screens with projectors that we planned on using for our slide show and Instagram pictures. Our menu was set with numerous salads and three meats as well as dessert and a midnight lunch coffee and tea. We had two bartenders and two bars to eliminate any lines. In our contract was a DJ the hall was supposed to provide. The contract also included vases for center pieces and all table clothes and cutlery. Everything was going well until we came to our final numbers and final meeting at the hall. We met with them at the hall and informed them we will likely be short of our 300 person original estimate. We came in at 260. They refused to lower the price claiming it was a package deal. But they would charge us more if we more Than 300. I checked with numerous other halls who stated they would change their price according to the amount of guests you had at the final count. This seemed odd to me that they wouldn't. They finally agreed to lower the price $1500 still pocketing $1100 more than the service they were providing for our 260 guests. The removed all the drapes from the walls exposing a tan white color wall. This in it self was not hideous however it was a far cry from the drapes we originally saw and fell in love with. The walls fell very short of capturing the light the way the drapes did. We emailed them months out of our wedding looking for he DJ contact number as we had some songs we required to be played at certain time. They finally got back to us two weeks out of our wedding providing us with a DJ, We found out this was one of their friends who owned a very small DJ company, Rosie T Entertainment. We met with her and arranged our music the way we wanted it. Music for entrances, first dance etc. We left and shook hands all seemed good. Rosie sent us an email telling us we should find another DJ as she did not feel comfortable doing our wedding. We agreed with her, thinking if she didn't want to be there, we definitely have someone else. Since the Palace booked her for $1000 with a $500 deposit we called to have it all refunded and explained the situation to them, asking for them to find another DJ. They kept the deposit siting it was us who cancelled her and told us we would be responsible for paying for the replacement. Please see our review for Revolution Entertainment our replacement. They then provided us with a 1100 to 1500 set up time the day before our wedding claiming they were too busy to be there at any other time, and would only allow us 4 people to set up. We made it work, but we did bring more than 4. The day of the wedding. The pluses despite the no drapes on the walls the hall combined with our extra decorations actually looked very nice, we were very excited with the outcome. Only one of the screens worked causing half of our guest to be in a bad place missing our slide show and Instagram pictures. The food was alright, much as I would expect with a buffet service. They promised us lots of food enough for people to have seconds. They ran out of food claiming we had 280 guests which we definitely did not. Some of our guests went with out food, having to go to McDonalds so they wouldn't go hungry. This made my wife and I look very bad, especially given the fact that we spent close to 20 grand on the hall. The Bartenders were efficient however opened too many boxes of coolers or beer, leaving us with ample left overs, which due to the open box could not be returned. The Taliani Family and bartenders were also not dressed for the occasion, wearing T shirts and track pants. There were numerous other issues I had with the Banquet hall and the owners however I will not sight all of my concerns, as we will be here a while. I will say this for the hall, its large and can accommodate large groups and when done up looks great. The food is average and service sub par. The employees were dressed down for our special event losing some of the magic. The hall including all the food, service, bartenders everything was very over priced for what we received. Just had a wedding there. The woman incharge talks a big game in terms of decorating and the food but delivers absolute crap. We gave her detailed description on to how we would like the stage set up and she was very friendly when listening and assured us that it's going to look great. There was another wedding decorator there while we were speaking who was doing a really nice job with the stage area (for another wedding). We asked her if she could do something like that and used it as an example to explain to her what we wanted. She got really cocky and said she can do much better then "that mess" so we were satisfied. On the wedding day however, it was clear that what she had done on the stage was a complete 'mess'. The flowers were made out of white Bristol board and were cut by hand (jagged edges, looked kind of like a five year old kid's craft project). The drapery was wrinkled, and the lighting (main thing she promised that will set the theme) was poor. The couch for the bride and groom that she had specially rented for us was so uncomfortable for the bride that she and the groom sat in the guests' chair throughout the event. As for the food, it was awful. It tasted like it had been prepared way ahead of time and frozen until serving. We payed $40/person for the event and the quality of the food and experience did not match that price. Everything was stale and the vegetables were discoloured. We wanted to bring in an ice cream cake for the event but the lady incharge refused to let us because it would be too messy for her staff. Shouldn't she accommodate all her guests' request especially at such a price of $40/person? All in all, I would never recommend this venue to any one. And if you absolutely have to, make sure you get your own decorator and your own food catered (but I have a feeling she might have a few things to say about that) read more
