The Palace Group in Kendall has been patient and caring in helping my mom and our family with the difficult transition for our mom from home to Independent Living. They are friendly, efficient, attentive and go over and above to not only make my mom feel at home, but help her feel like she's in a caring community. They organized a surprise party in their private dining room for my moms birthday last week. I can't even begin to describe how incredible the experience has been with my parents. I could go on and on with how great the staff treats them. Rather than writing an entire novel I'll give some examples. I'm long distance caregiving for my parents and they make it incredibly easy to communicate with them. My mom loves the activities and they send me pictures almost everyday of her smiling and delighted to be there. Their attention to detail is incredible no health concern goes unaddressed and they often notice signs and symptoms before my parents do and get them care promptly. They even went as far as throwing my parents an anniversary party including taking my mom to the salon and getting her nails and hair done for the occasion. Worth every penny! It is with bittersweet emotions that I write this review, and even though my father has recently passed I feel it's appropriate at this time to give credit where credit is due. My dads journey was a long one with years of ups and downs in his disease process. In the last 7 years he's been in and out of hospitals and rehabs until last month when God finally decided it was time for him to rest and be pain free. During this journey my dad was lucky enough to have been at the Palace Rehab on 2-3 occasions. Unfortunately, his last experience at rehab, which I honestly believe played a big role in his demise, wasn't at the Palace due to insurance reasons and the fact that he was a dialysis patient. However, The numerous times that he was at the Palace, the experience went above and beyond. The nursing staff was always on top of all his issues and meds and very attentive to his needs as well as my mother's who was always accompanying him during the day. The staff was very knowledgeable and the facility was impeccable. As far as rehab, There is no better rehabilitation department than at the Palace. They treat patients like family and go above and beyond making their sometimes painful and unpleasant journey a more fun and comforting one. Unlike Heartland where my father had a horrible recent experience at, the Palace didn't see him as a non-functioning 90 year old and throw him to the side; They gave him therapy and worked him to the best of his potential regardless of his age. They were very human and compassionate with him and made his stay very pleasant and comfortable even though at times his condition made it otherwise. I have nothing negative to say about The Palace Rehab other than I wish his last experience at a rehab could of been there. His outcome may have not been different but at least I could have rested at night knowing he was in great hands and they were treating him as they would treat their own family members. I would highly recommend this facility to your family members. read more

The BEST gift our mother gave us was the foresight to plan for her future. And that included long term care. Mom could no longer live at home in early 2017 and so we moved her to The Palace Renaissance where she is thriving. Mom goes out on the two weekly outings and Maggie the Activities Director always sends us pictures. We love attending the monthly family parties (they are amazing), my favorite is Mothers Day! The Champagne fountain this year was fabulous. If anyone has a family member with Alzheimer or early onset Dementia I would highly recommend The Palace Renaissance. read more

My purpose in writing this comment is to shed light to family members that are thinking of taking their loved one(s) to The Palace (Rehabilitation Center). I hope to give clarity to whom ever has questions that have not been answered and/or just want to know what is to be expected upon ones stay here. Upon arrival to The Palace, my grandmother, who received would I would like to call a "welcome brochure" with a business card attached to it, which will be provided below. When I arrived at The Palace I saw this brochure and wanted to put a face to the name that would be taking care of my grandmother prior to being discharged. I do not wish to get into the logistics of what "she said he said", however, I will add that it was one of the ugliest interactions I have ever encountered as a human being, let alone as a visitor of any establishment. In conclusion, the conversation became so volatile that I did not feel safe leaving my grandmother any where near this individual. Come to find out she wasn't even the social worker in charge of my grandmother. So why was her business card left for my grandparents to reach as if it were a friendly invitation to contact her? I spoke to Liliana Patterson, administrator, in regards to this incident, which she reassured this would not happen again for as long as my grandmother would be staying with them. My only recommendation is that The Palace does not advertise anyone's business card if they do not wish to be reach or asked questions. This field of work requires patience, being understanding, welcoming, tolerate, caring, and most importantly, love what what you do! Unfortunately, I did not witness any of these characteristics in this employee. I'm just happy no one else in my family had to witness or be involved with this individual. Of course, I saved the best part for last, upon discharge, she was suppose to leave with my grandfather so that she was well accompanied to her house. We were also suppose to be informed (a call, or my goodness, I would been okay with a text), which did not happen. My grandmother was discharged and taken out with no one being told! She was picked up by STS alone and taken to her house with no one there. My poor grandfather was informed that she was already at the house when he came to The Palace to go with my grandma home (was told several times to the employees there that she could not be alone). We had to leave work in an emergency to go pick him up and take him home to where my grandmother was left alone with a stranger because no one took the time to inform us that someone, that needs constantly attention, was left alone with no medical supervision. This was truly the icing on the cake. In a nutshell, I would love to leave this review on a positive note, due to my experience not being all that horrible. I had lovely ladies and gentlemen that were caring and attentive of my grandmother's needs. Jaque, David, and Marlene. Jessica, the front desk receptionist, is one of the most beautiful individuals I have ever met inside and out. Jessica is friendly, welcoming to visitors, and someone that deserves employee of the month, EVERY MONTH. The therapist were also very involved with my grandma's progress, they let me know how many steps she made, how well she was doing, and were just so nice and patient with her. I hope I named everyone that made my beautiful grandmother's stay welcoming and beneficial to her health. Thank you guys for making our stay pleasant at The Palace Rehab Center and continue being wonderful employees. I hope also this helps anyone that is thinking of taking their loved one(s) to The Palace what they are to expect and how they may be treated. I moved my mother into The Palace Suites a year ago this month. The staff was and is incredibly helpful and accessable. My mother had a rough time adjusting at first. Her apartment is a brand newly redone apartment, the move was seamless, staff showed up right away, within her first hour of arrival to hang photos and welcome her. She now has a wonderful circle of friends who she sits with every evening. The food is delicious, activities abound - unfortunately I don't think she participates as much as she could but what she likes she does participate in. I can't think of anything they wouldn't do for her - she just celebrated her 85th birthday there - the staff went out of their way to celebrate with her - balloons, cake, songs etc! She was beyond thrilled. I am not in town during the summer and I have absolutely no concerns that she is being taken care of in the best possible way. read more

Took my mom there on a doctor's recommendation, she needed some rehabilitation after a prolonged hospital stay. Driving up, at 8 p.m., the place looked ok. As we entered the lobby was set up like a French bistro. Plenty of chairs and tables. We continued through some double doors and the Palace became more and more like a hospital. Not like Baptist or SOUTH Miami hospital but more like Jackson's ER in the 80's. The smell was awful. As we arrived at what would be her room, I could see the waste pails overflowing with waste paper and discarded medical supplies. I kept going only because my mom was in need of therapy and there was no place else to take her. Her bed almost gave out from under when they put her in. It was sticky to the touch and looked like a pig with lipstick. After some soul searching and a brief conversation with my mom, I took her home. read more

Our Father was a resident of The Palace Assisted Living Center. He went from having a magnificent sense of humor to stating "I want to die" after moving here. It broke our hearts. He became depressed, timid, and ceased expressing valid concerns to management after being scolded stating she was "mad" at him for doing so. Meds were often administered late or forgotten. He waited hours for help in getting out of bed to use the restroom. After being assured he would receive excellent care and spending thousands of dollars a month he was stripped of his dignity. When he told us a staff member said she heard him crying for 2 hours but waited before giving assistance we felt he was being abused and needed to move him out as soon as possible. I have had both of my parents at The Palace in Kendall for over four years. I can honestly say that as a family, we have been fully satisfied with the administration, the staff, the food, the rooms, activities, the Palace at Home aides. All in all a 5 star establishment! read more

I am very sad to read the other review and hear about the awful experience his great aunt went thru. I hope things turned out well for her. Our 79 year-old Mom and her 80 year-old husband moved to the Palace Suites in Feb of 2013, mainly due to our step-Dad's declining health. They both took a variety of meds, and had a little forgetfulness, but were ambulatory and able to care for themselves in general. We encouraged them to make the move as neither of them really should have been driving anymore and we knew our step-Dad's decline was not likely to reverse course. Their experience has been wonderful. Very cheerful and helpful staff, wonderful dining room and meals, great afternoon entertainment and happy hour, lots of activities, lots of great residents, and shuttles that take them pretty much everywhere. Most of us kids live outside of Florida, but our brother and his wife live 30 mins away and are able to drop in for visits weekly. We are all so happy that our folks are in a place that keeps them safe, cared for, healthy and happy. But it is an Independent Living facility, so at that point that they need more care, like have to be in a diaper, they will move to the Palace Royale next door, which is Assisted Living, or if even more care is needed, then the Palace Skilled Nursing and Nursing Home next door to that. We'll all help our parents decide when it is time to move to the next level of care, as Independent Living at the Suites will work great, until they are no longer able to live without help. We are very grateful that they found The Palace complex. read more
