Awesome hidden gem in the city of Sylvester Ga. The owners are very welcoming and reachable. The food and service is always Great!!

This place is TRULY a hidden gem! I couldn't quit gawking at all the decor, from the floor to the ceilings, everything is immaculately decorated. (won't even bother posting pics because they don't do it justice) The bartender was not only hilarious but added stories and details about some of the artwork, the handmade chandelier in the entryway, my cosmo recipe being the original recipe from back in like the early 1900's. LUVED her. They had a large wedding party the night before and they were out of a lot of drinks and some food items however the way she presented it to us, was again hilarious so we truly didn't even mind. Thursday night between 6-7pm. It was basically empty; which is a plus for me. They get all their business mostly on the weekends, per our server. This restaurant is beautifully decorated! It could very well fit in at theme parks, like Universal Studios. It's Clean, spacious, lighting on the dimmer side. It's a fantastic date night spot. We were blessed to have Diamond tending to us, and she was outstanding! Customer Service doesn't get any better than what she gave. I imagine she'd be just as great if the place were absolutely slammed. Our food was pretty basic. We got spicy fried wings as an appetizer. They were pretty good. The chicken fettuccine Alfredo had small bits of white meat chicken, and not a lot of it. We also had a 14oz Ribeye, collards, & mashed potatoes. All the food was ok. Not good enough to rave about, not bad enough to complain about. Just basic . I'm glad I finally checked it out though. The overall experience was worth the visit. Tried the appetizer Devil on Horseback and it was delicious. The Maryland Crabcakes were tasty and my husband had the Scallops Piccata, which was delicious. Cannot beat the fried ice cream. It's to die for. Great night out. If you haven't been, the ambiance is a treat. read more

We went to the Palace with food friends... that means we sampled each other's dishes! But, let me start by saying that my rating is 4.5 stars. The Palace is a surprising place to find in Sylvester. The atmosphere alone is almost worth going. Fortunately the food matches its environ. Elegant is the word I would use. Dark panels with great music in the background. Loud enough to hear but not loud enough to hider conversation. As far as food, I had the pork chop with green beans and mushrooms sautéed with bacon. Everything was delicious. I was able to sample the shrimp and grits, blackened salmon and crab cakes. All of these were good. Shrimp and grits is a dish that can vary widely. Theirs are a tomato, red pepper creation with a bit of spice that I found delightful. The crab cakes were very good as well. Probably some of the best I've had outside of Maryland. The salmon was good as well. My bride loves the cheese grits. She said they were light and fluffy and she left none for me to sample! We also had the meatballs for an appetizer and the fried ice cream for dessert. Both were excellent. The ice cream we split between the four of us and no one felt cheated. It is a large portion. The service was good as well. Our meal came out in a timely fashion. Our server was knowledgeable and took good care of us. We will definitely return. Perfect secret gem in the middle of tiny Sylvester GA. Even a couple of hour drive would be worth it to take in this amazing spot. Decor reminiscent of a fine European or Michelin star NYC restaurant, this is a piece of architectural masterpiece! I'm blown away by the ambiance walking in. Such a great dressy, fancy date night gem in the middle of rural Georgia. I'm from New Orleans, my husband and i ordered the crab claws, both soups (tomato and potato), the special (crab cakes) and blackened grouper, this was nothing short of a taste of a something we would find back home. We are so excited to have a "go to" restaurant close by to us for all occasions. The drinks were spectacular as well we got an old fashioned, a French 75 (my favorite) and an espresso martini. The long-awaited Palace Restaurant was a few weeks past. Tonight, we gave it a try. We all make bad decisions! We made reservations. The hostess acknowledged them when we arrived and sent us to the lounge ( five seats around a table) in the back of the bar area. Our table for two was booked for 7pm. One drink, I had to hunt down a waitress to order, and several assurances that it wouldn't be too much longer, I approached the manager who proved as useless at solving my problem as running a supposedly upscale restaurant! At 8:15, I went to the hostess stand where the same hostess who'd checked us in, put a call into the manager. Then they denied we had a reservation. If this the way they treat all of their customers, I predict their closing will take place a lot faster than their opening! read more

This is a beautiful place. The decor and ambiance are great, and the servers are prompt and efficient. The problem is the food. It's always a bit off, not terrible, just not really good. I know they get great reviews, but that's mostly because this is a small town, and the owners are a prominent family, so no one wants to be honest and get the grief. I've been here 4 times.... always hoping for a better outcome. I think I'm done now. The food is mediocre, at best. The appetizers we tried were the crab, the devils on horseback (dates stuffed with almonds and bleu cheese, wrapped in bacon), meatballs, and the shrimp The crab claws were tiny and disappointing, the devils on horseback was overcooked, dry and just odd, the shrimp was sort of like bang bang shrimp and not bad, the meatballs were the best. They were in a sweet ginger sauce, covered with gooey cheese and quite good. I've had the shrimp and grits, which were very gruyere forward, and despite the sauce and peppers, pretty bland. The shrimp have been slightly overcooked both times I tried it. I tried the grouper, also overcooked and bland. I tried the ribeye. It was cooked properly, and the taste was good, but so much fat and gristle. It was disappointing. The only dessert we tried was the fried ice cream. It was just bad. It's hard to say ice cream is bad, but the thick batter was really awful. The only thing that was good so far, according to my husband, was the hamburger steak and mashed potatoes that come served in a cast iron skillet, very much like a fajita skillet. I tasted it, and the flavor was good, but the crust was very hard.... from continuing to cook in the skillet, I suppose. The prices are on par for a nice restaurant such as they aspire to be. However, in a small town like Sylvester, it's pricey for some people, and since the food isn't great, it's just not worth it. That's the bottom line. It's not worth the time or expense. read more

Excellent! The Palace is the most enjoyable restaurant experience I've had in recent memory. It compares favorably with the same upscale places where I've dined in recent months including New Orleans, Atlanta, Chicago and the greater Denver area. The ambience is great overall, but the food is just OK, and the service needs improvement. My wife asked for mashed potatoes and I, baked potato with butter and no sour cream. We both received baked potatoes with no butter. It took about 15 minutes to get butter for our potatoes. Also, they charged us an extra $6 for a baked potato when it is one of the sides. They took it off the check. A couple at the table next to us also had a problem with their bill. We ordered the salmon, which was good, but the grouper we ordered was overcooked and a bit dry. This place has potential but as much attention needs to be placed on the food and the service as it has been on the decor. read more
