Attended a wedding at the palm house and it was a beautiful venue. Looking up at the chandelier while on the dance floor was magical. The garden outside for cocktail hour was also the perfect setting for a fall evening We were served filet mignon and the steak was tender and juicy. The cocktail hour snacks were also delicious. Magic. You enter through the lovely Brooklyn Botanical Gardens and as you slowly approach (because you don't run, you meander the garden paths - well I do) the Victorian-replica greenhouses you can't help but catch your breath. The wedding chapel was filled with light on a grey day and made the ceremony all that more special. The cocktail hour was held in the arboretum, where guests can wander through deserts, tropical forests and primary woodland while munching on fantastic canapes. And the smell of fresh greenery was all around - I couldn't get enough of it. The main reception hall was like something out of a fairytale, as cheesy as that sounds. I am a sucker for all things romantic in architecture and baby, this was romantic architecture. The evening sky was lit up with hundreds of twinkle lights, the dance floor (though small) was filled with happy dancers. The food was plentiful and actually pretty tasty, not to mention impeccable service. Each table had their own designated server who coordinated special requests and made sure the guests were happy. They even had attendants in the ladies room, something I haven't come across in other wedding venues I've been to. If I were to ever get married (HA!) I would probably want to do it here. I attended a wedding here at The Palm in June 2016. The Palm exceeded my expectations, from beginning to end this place was magical. The wait staff here went above and beyond; our water glasses were always full and we never had to tell them to clear our table for more room. The only thing I can complain about this place is that our table was by the back of the room and the AC didn't reach far enough to keep us cool. It wasn't even over 90 degrees for us to be suffering like that. The bathroom was also by the back of the room and there were only 2 stalls per bathroom and it was a sauna in there. Besides that the food was great, from cocktail hour to our starter courses to our entrees the food was phenomenal. I went to another wedding the weekend after this one and I appreciated the food at The Palm that much more after the mediocre food at that wedding in New Jersey. The drinks were on point as well, top shelve liquor and no water down drinks. The newly married couple got a live band for the ceremony and it was a great touch. We attended a wedding here and were amazed. It was an authentic Hindu wedding where the groom and his family paraded to the brides family besting drums in a most exciting manner. The ceremony was in the atrium and was set up like any church wedding with an alter runway and plenty of seating decorated beautifully with an arch covered in roses and candlelit flower arrangements at the end of every other row of chairs. The cocktail hour was outside at the lily ponds and included two small tables of plated hors d'oeuvres along with walk around platters of tiny avocado toast, tuna, spring rolls and a few others which were very tasty. The atrium was then transformed into a large reception room for the party. We were served a pasta ravioli with nutty butter and mushroom sauce. The meal was a choice of a quarter chicken or filet mignon, which I ordered. It was perfectly cooked medium rare and so juicy and tender and served with a fancy stacked scalloped potato that was very tasty. Warning: One of the people at our table requested their filet to be well done and she was very disappointed in the toughness of her piece. The wedding cake was just so so there was a chocolate with chocolate filling as icing and vanilla with with icing and possibly a mango filling. Cakes were a bit dry. The night ended with trays of petit fours which were sweet and delicious. read more

What a truly beautiful venue, if I wasn't allergic to pollen and flowers I wouldn't mind having my wedding here! I had the pleasure of celebrating the NYP BM volunteers during the gala this past week and everything from the decor to the food was such a treat. The location was not hard to find and I was directed to cocktail hour the instant I stepped inside. We were catered by Patina, there was an open bar with select drinks as well. The food was delicious, I opted for a roasted chicken, some sort of pasta, vegetable medley and there was a concoction of potatoes and mangos that strangely tasted good! The space itself is very conducive for music and I was able to hear the DJ playing across the room. I would say that the specific part of the Palm House that I was in held around 200 people. They also had a fountain outside and various flowers in bloom so I took the chance to take some photos of course! The bathrooms were clean and well maintained. My wife Lisa and I are both New Yorkers. We definitely wanted a "destination" wedding in the greatest city in the world (our recessional music was even "New York, New York"). Being the clueless groom-to-be, I came up with ideas like the top of the Empire State Building or home plate at Yankee Stadium. My sister saved us and said, "how about the Brooklyn Botanic Garden?" We loved the idea right away, as we both love nature. The Queens Botanical Garden was too small, the New York Botanical Garden was too large, but the BBG was "just right". It's an expansive garden with everything from a Japanese Tea Garden to a Shakespeare Garden, and yet still manages to exude a certain intimacy. One caterer, CharlesSallyCharles, manages all weddings at the BBG. Most refer to them as "The Palm House", the name of the magnificent glass structure in the garden. It's a family-run company, and unlike nameless, faceless wedding mills you do get to talk with the owners (Lisa told me Charlie could not have been kinder to her). One important tip: pick your date VERY early. We picked ours 10 months in advance, and they were already filling up. Pricing varies by the season and time of day. We aren't the Rockefellers, so we went with a daytime wedding in the fall. I joked that our date fell perfectly after the summer roses were gone and before the fall leaves came out. But as you'll read below, somehow the garden was still stunningly beautiful. A few months before your wedding you'll be invited to a tasting to sample all the food and drinks. For the cocktail hour we chose a cheese station and an amazing seafood station with fresh oysters, lobster, and crab (literally some of the best lobster I've ever had). You'll also select passed hors-d'oeuvres that are little gourmet dishes in themselves, as well a great selection of seasonal entrees, from meat and fish to options for vegetarians, vegans, and kids. Prior to the wedding, we didn't have much interaction with the Palm House at all. We provided them a questionnaire and our seating charts, and that was about it. I arrived early the day of the wedding. The garden was empty, but I could see the whole crew already setting up. I walked around the garden and was shocked at how many colors were around for the fall. Beautiful fall flowers were planted all around with oranges, reds, purples, and greens. Water lilies were growing in the pond in front of the Palm House. The coordinator Leigh saw me outside and warmly invited me in. She had a few questions at the ready to ask me, but I could tell right away that she had absolutely everything under control. She even helped pin my boutonniere onto me, and later in the day she helped Lisa with her hair. She is amazing. Our plan was to get married in the large meadow outside, but due to rain we ended up having the ceremony inside. I thought I'd be disappointed with an indoor wedding, but it turned out just as spectacular; the lighting, acoustics, and temperature were actually better than being outdoors. How the staff converted the room from a wedding chapel, to a cocktail hour venue, to a reception hall was nothing short of amazing. They transformed the area like magic, all without bothering our guests. They paid attention to every little detail. After our recessional, Leigh was standing there and whisked us to a cute little bridal room. Waiting for us was a full selection of food from the cocktail hour and two glasses of champagne. They closed the door behind them, giving Lisa and me a few minutes to take a deep breath and unwind in complete peace. That they knew to give us this special time together meant a lot to us. The reception went wonderfully. Lisa and I had given scant directions of how to set things up, and yet we found everything perfect. Through the whole day, Leigh was like a whirling dervish, interacting with our musicians, our DJ, our photographer, and making sure everything went smoothly. As the day ended, the whole staff was incredibly respectful to our guests, making sure all had comfortably departed before starting the setup for the next wedding. I'll be honest: Lisa and I were perhaps the most disorganized couple in the history of wedding planning, and yet after the wedding we got compliment after compliment from our friends of how this was the best wedding they've ever been to, how the food was spectacular, how they've never seen a wedding run more smoothly, and how much fun they had. And the amazing thing is, unlike other couples who get stressed out on their wedding day, we got to enjoy it just as much as all of our guests. Many of them stayed afterwards to enjoy their free admission to the Garden. I look at other Yelpers who talk about how their wedding was perfect as well. It says a lot about a wedding vendor who can repeat perfection time after time, and yet make each couple feel that their wedding was truly unique and special. Where do I begin to express my thanks to CharlesSallyCharles who did the most incredible job in creating the wedding of my dreams two weeks ago on July 12, 2014. I was, and still am, overjoyed with happiness and emotion when I think about the magical day that the team pulled off. My guests are still calling me everyday to review the details -- all of which were meticulously executed. For starters, I went with CharlesSallyCharles because of Charlie, himself, after meeting with him one brisk March morning in 2013. At that point, I had met with most of the top caterers and venues in NYC. I was tired of being pitched to like I was buying a car, and I was annoyed with venues who wouldn't call me back or take the time to answer important questions. When I sat down with Charlie, I felt like I was in his home. His laid-back but organized and rational approach, his sincerity, his attention to small things that every bride wants to know their venue is handling, all made me realize I was in the right place. Although all of the dates were already booked up for that year (2013) and for the high season in 2014, I didn't care because I knew it would be worth the wait. We booked a date 1.5 years out from our engagement. Good things come to those who wait: July 12, 2014 was one of the most perfect, most beautiful days -- and it wasn't just because we had outrageous weather and a fortuitous "Supermoon" in the sky. Food: I am indebted to the team for being 100% sure that we were okay with the wine and food selection. My family is known for being foodies, and the team went out of their way to answer a million questions and made sure we were okay with the tasting before moving forward with our selection. Guests are still raving about the lamb chops and raw bar. And the cake we chose: Tahitian Vanilla with fresh raspberries and fresh strawberry filling was amazing! We had the top of the cake the day later and I was salivating still. During our yichud, the team made sure to prepare a large selection of all our cocktail hour foods and it was SO nice to be able to eat with my husband and enjoy the great food together. The sushi was made into a heart shape (I noticed that and was really touched). Event Coordination: Leigh and Heather both made sure that every "i" was dotted, "t" was crossed. Leigh, leading up to the wedding, was immeasurably helpful and responsive in guiding us both vendor-wise and coordination-wise. Heather, our day of coordinator, was unbelievable. I had a lot of "extra" things I wanted to do from surprising my fiance at the time with an "aisle dance" to intricate place settings, and she was all over it all. Everything was very well-timed and well-executed. The only qualm I had was to have had a golf cart ready at the beginning of our couple portraits so that we could have hit more areas of the garden (but that said, we still were able to get a lot of great shots). Service: Can't get better service. White glove. Completely on point. My guests continue to comment about how friendly and nice the staff were and how they felt like everyone "knew what was going on," which has always been a big deal to me as a guest attending someone else's wedding. Knowledge of grounds and space: CharlesSallyCharles, after 30 years, knows every corner of the venue and every grass blade at the garden. They know where your pictures should be, they know where to set up a ceremony, how to set it up, how to position seating, where and how to escort guests... The list goes on. I was a guest at a wedding here in mid-June. I'm uncertain if the caterer was a house caterer or brought in, so I won't speak to the food. Pros: Absolutely beautiful place to get married. The Botanic Gardens event staff was attentive and very accommodating. Cons: The ceremony was held outdoors, where guests were eaten alive by mosquitos. There were two weddings at the same time; guests were confused where to go. There should have been more golf carts to take the guests to and from the ceremony and reception. Heels on a rocky (and long) path are a major bummer. Especially hard for the elderly and disabled. At the end of the evening, finding a cab to pick you up in Brooklyn - even a car service - took forever. And let's be honest, I don't think it's a part of Brooklyn you want to be stranded in. These are all things that could probably have been remedied with a clip-on bug repellant, renting golf carts from the Gardens, and calling a specific car or limo service ahead of time to reserve cars. The two weddings at the same time? Not so easily remedied. Personally, I don't know if I'd host an event here, especially after getting wind of the dollar figure attached. read more

From day one, it was a pleasure to work with Charles, Leigh, Heather, and the entire staff. We were stunned by the attention to detail and the incredible job they did for us. The CSC team set up our ceremony both inside the Palm House at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, and outside on the lawn, in order to give us the best chance of hosting it outdoors on a rainy day. She anticipated our every need, and kept a close eye on us. She was calm, cool, and collected, and put us at ease. This is a review for our wedding festivities at Brooklyn Botanic Garden last month. Thank you to Victoria, Em, Jonathan et al for giving us the summer wedding of our dreams. An entire year of planning and preparation (MANY emails back and forth) was worth the very wonderful six hours of bliss at 1000 Washington Avenue. The Palm house is a truly beautiful space. Due to unfortunate weather, both our ceremony and reception were held inside the Palm House building. The glass structure, however, yielded such amazing light for our ceremony photos (pics to come!) and I think our friends and family were actually relieved to be sitting inside with comfortable air conditioning while we exchanged our vows. In addition to the beauty of the space, our guests all commended the staff throughout the event for their attentiveness and organization. While I was disappointed to have our cocktail hour inside the conservatory building instead of outside at the Lily Pond Terrace, our guests actually loved being able to explore the different climates in the various room extensions, cocktail in hand (made for some neat photos as well!) And, of course, THE FOOD! As cliche as it must sound, my husband and I had very little time to enjoy the decadent spread provided as we were busy hosting and posing for photos but our guests raved about the delicious station offerings and Victoria was kind enough to set aside some delicious goodies for us to enjoy in the bridal suite so we didn't miss out entirely (she also sent us home with a doggie bag of our late night snack selections). Every bite we did manage to enjoy was really quite good, especially our wedding cake! In the many months leading up to the big event, there were a lot of emails exchanged between myself and the venue. Sometimes there were delays in responses, which worried me, but I now realize they were dedicating their time appropriately because day of, every moment was managed and handled promptly and professionally. I had my wedding at the Palmhouse this past weekend and everything turned out what i'd imagined it to be. From the ceremony to reception, everything was flawless. It was a year and a half of planning and they were the best vendors i worked with. Heather ( my day coordinator) answered all of my emails and she pretty much did exactly what i wanted. The wait staff were really professional and courteous and food was delicious. The day turned out to be gorgeous as well so it really set some beautiful natural lighting thru the glass dome structure. Went tot the Palm House @ the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens this past Saturday. Outdoors for wedding and inside the Palm house for the reception. Very beautiful and well organized. Staff was very helpful and friendly. During cocktail hour we had drinks and finger food. All delicious. Especially the pasta. For dinner I had the files mignon. De-Lish! Succulent and cooked to perfection (not tough or too soft). Sides were asparagus and fried mashed potatoes?!. Done well also. As much as I've been in Brooklyn I've never visited the Gardens. Now I know what I was missing and will make it a point to visit more often. Parking is either in the street (scarce), or in the parking lot via self or valet. read more

Scheduled a site visit, after driving two hours with a dead phone I was unable to contact the office to let them know I was late, only to arrive and deal with an extremelyrude aarrogant host. He didn't even bother to come to the security desk, he spoke to my fiance on the phone and informed him that he didn't have time for us, after we even apologized and told him about our battery on the phone. His response was rude and unsympathetic. I won't pay for this type of service. I'm uphalled and disgusting. Will not have ny event there. Thanks Tom for making the choice easy. read more

In the beautiful setting of Brooklyn Botanical's Palm house, it's unfortunate that it must be catered by this company. Several at my table commented that the food was a little undercooked. Also the wait staff is suspect. My advice: if you're planning to hold an event there - make sure you bring nothing of value with you. Apparently, I later found that many personal belongings have disappeared at these catered events. Unfortunately, the owner Charles Krause turns a blind eye to this. read more

We had a TERRIBLE experience when we went to visit the venue. Basically, I had been emailing with someone named Kara for weeks before we went to visit (we were not local, so getting there was difficult for us) and she seemed perfectly nice. She told us the last date available was 8/24 and that we should come in ASAP to see it so that we can book it. Well, we thought we would love it there, so we went to visit for the next available appointment. It took us hours to get there, and we were so excited. When we came in, we had to wait 30 minutes (past our given appointment time) to even be seen. Finally, we met with Charles, the owner, who basically had no idea we were even supposed to have an appointment. Kara "forgot" to tell him, regardless of the fact that I had triple-confirmed with her beforehand. Moreover, the date was taken and since it was the last available date, we would have to push our wedding off for another 6 months. I'm not upset about the date being taken as much as I am about nobody telling me this, so that I wouldnt waste all that time schlepping to Brooklyn in the middle of a Saturday. This was completely unprofessional, and I am now skeptical of how they conduct their business even after booking. Other reviewers have pointed out that the owners are hard to reach, and don't really reach out to you about your own wedding. I found that to be true about booking the date as well. As for the venue, the Botanic Gardens are beautiful... but let's be honest. The Palm House itself is not very well maintained. Old carpet surrounds a worn down dance floor, and the encompassing windows are grimy and dirty. The other side of the room (which nobody shows in pictures) is basically covered in a plastic wall paneling that hasn't been cleaned in years. Guys, this place isn't worth it. Seriously. Your wedding vendor is someone that should treat you with respect--someone who will make your wedding day as easy as possible. They are NOT doing YOU a favor, and they shouldn't act like it. read more

My husband and I had our September 2013 wedding at the Palm House, and from start to finish, it couldn't have been a better experience. After looking at several wedding venues around New York City, we chose the Palm House because it had all the factors we were looking for, including an absolutely breathtaking setting (the garden for the ceremony and the Palm House for the reception). We were so happy with our choice--with the fantastic food, the open bar and the Palm House staff, you really do get a tremendous amount of value for your investment. Apart from the venue (which was gorgeous), some of the highlights from our experience include: The Food: I'm a foodie, so expectations were high on this one, but from the passed hors d'oeuvres during the cocktail hour (the mini chicken and waffles are a must) to the main course options (we chose the filet mignon and the salmon), we received rave reviews about the food both during and after our event. And not only was the quality of the food very high, the portions were generous. The Staff: Each wedding is assigned a day-of coordinator from the Palm House staff. Heather was our coordinator, and she was amazing! She was a very calm presence throughout the event who kept things running smoothly and on time. And she went above and beyond to ensure that every detail was successful. We'd elected to take photos before the ceremony, and due to some morning showers, I got a streak of mud on the bottom of my dress...with some Shout wipe magic, she helped to get the mud off the dress until it was as good as new for the ceremony. Communication: All phone calls and email messages were returned the same day. I communicated primarily with Leigh in the lead-up to the event, and she was great to work with. If you're reading this and considering the Palm House for your wedding, don't look any further...we had a fantastic day, and the Palm House was a big part of it! read more

With pleasure, I am reviewing the Palm House's new catering company, the Patina Restaurant group. I had my wedding there last weekend and the staff couldn't have been more responsive, friendly and professional. My coordinator Sarah was terrific to work with - easy going, trustworthy, fun, and detail oriented. The level of service was terrific. After the ceremony in the Garden, while walking to the Palm House, the catering director Jeff asked us if we wanted anything to drink because he knew we were about to be inundated with friends and family - very thoughtful. After the entire affair, another staff member helped us carry things to our car. The service really couldn't have been any better. The food was delicious and we enjoyed the creativity of the chef - many guests gave compliments. Thank you Sarah, Jeff and the gang! read more

My daughter's wedding August 23, 2014 at The Palm House catered by Charles Sally Charles was perfection and this is not a word used lightly. The team, including Heather and Leigh took care of everything with such a fun, loving and caring attitude. There were no details missed. The organization was amazing, the food excellent and the venue is without a doubt stunning. The guests are emailing and calling and sending me cards to thank me for the most wonderful wedding weekend. I am blessed to have spent my childhood at BBG and when my daughter and her fiancé chose the Palm House it was music to my ears. When we had an event there, many of our guests left their belongings behind in the revelry and when I called the next morning to check in on something Leigh had collected everyone's possessions in a bag for me- including a gold and diamond bracelet. I'm not sure everyone could have possibly felt safer in the room. We had our wedding reception in the Palm House of the Brooklyn Botanic Garden in June 2017. It was an incredibly beautiful venue. It offered everything you can think of. The garden area is exquisite and the Palm House itself is a breathtaking glass structure. We had to use their catering service, which worked out great because the food was excellent. We worked with Emily P. throughout the planning process who was easy to work with and extremely helpful. For example, we didn't have a lot of time for pictures because our reception took place shortly after our church ceremony. Emily helped us plan accordingly, so we could get a golf cart to take us for a quick trip to the rose garden and some other areas for pictures before the cocktail hour ended. Additionally, all the wedding day staff was outstanding. They provided excellent service. We had our wedding reception here this October and everything really exceeded our expectations. We chose the palm house because of the reputation and obviously for the fabulous and unique location. Yes, it is pricey but it is NYC and hopefully you only get married once! Charles and Mary were super helpful answering any of our questions throughout the planning process and Leigh was incredible with the day of coordinating and she was a dream to work with. I felt like a guest at my wedding and didn't have to worry about a thing. Anything I was about to think of, Leigh was ahead of me. My review is for Charles Sally Charles who as noted before is only running BBG until Sept. However the review has nothing to do with the BBG but rather the amazing, incredible staff that CSC has. They take care of EVERYTHING. My daughter's wedding last weekend was beyond our dreams because we didn't have to worry about anything. Heather was our day-of person and nothing slipped by her. Help and Answers to every small detail. I didn't think once about the running of the day, The friendliness of staff, the ready smiles, their competence and professionalism made me felt like I was being taken care of at a 5-star hotel. CharlesSallyCharles is an AMAZING catering company and a family business with all the positives that implies - trust, friendliness, and joy. They catered my daughter's wedding July 11th and did the most incredible job imaginable. For the seven months leading up to the wedding, they answered every email and phone call with incredible patience. The food - especially the appetizers - was the best anyone at the wedding had ever had - both taste and gorgeous appearance. And the presentation was flawless - from having safety pins, moleskin, and remedies for a very anxious bride-to-be, placing the bridesmaids away from the bushes, to having carts ready to load the gifts - I could go on and on. We recently had our wedding at the Atrium at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. When we booked the Atrium as our venue a year before our wedding date, Patina had just been announced as BBG's new caterer. If we knew then what we know now about Patina, we likely would have made a different choice. The location is beautiful, but Patina's wedding management team at BBG is disorganized, careless, and unprofessional. Given the cost of holding a wedding at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, we expected that any caterer the Garden chose would be first rate, detail oriented, and make the client feel taken care of. This was not our experience with Patina. Every interaction was marked by delayed responses and difficulty in getting clear answers to our questions. This happened with such regularity that it conveyed the impression that we were not a priority. Indeed, on more than one occasion, our primary contact at Patina blamed his inability to respond timely and recall the details of our wedding on his busy schedule and other seemingly more important events. Our concerns about Patina grew during our tasting when we were served two incorrect dishes. The mistakes at the tasting were acknowledged but nothing was done to rectify the situation until we reached out to senior management at Patina's corporate office in Rockefeller Center. Shortly thereafter, we were offered a second tasting, which went much better. We left the second tasting feeling confident that Patina could provide first rate service on the day of our wedding. To our disappointment, this was not the case. Our confidence was shaken the day before our wedding when our florist informed us that she had called to make final logistical arrangements and staff from Patina was difficult to reach and rude when she ultimately spoke to them. On our wedding day, Patina made several mistakes, some of which were significant and noticed by our guests. For example, we made a special arrangement for my 100-year-old grandmother to be escorted to the ceremony location in a golf cart. However, no one from Patina was there to meet my grandmother at the gate to make sure she was escorted in a golf cart as we had arranged. It was our understanding that someone would be greeting all of our guests at the gate and giving them directions to the wedding ceremony location while we were elsewhere in the garden taking pictures with our photographer. It became clear to us that Patina's failure to provide directions was a problem for several of our guests, but most significantly, for my grandma. Because there was no one from Patina there when my grandma arrived, she walked slowly using her walker from the gate to the steps of the Osborne Garden unnoticed by any Patina staff. My cousin tried to get a wheelchair to assist and was told that she had to fill out paperwork. When I learned that my grandma had walked, I raised the issue with Patina's staff shortly before the wedding ceremony. Our primary contact at Patina told me that he had been watching for my grandma all evening and didn't know how she could have gotten by unnoticed. At 100 years old, it is impossible that she was walking so fast that she could have slipped by anyone paying attention. My family and I cannot comprehend how Patina could have allowed this to happen and if something had happened to my grandma during the walk, the consequences could have been devastating. This episode was one of the more severe examples of Patina's lack of attention to detail even on our wedding day. To be fair, the majority of Patina's errors went unnoticed by our guests (though not by us). We received many compliments on the food, particularly the Asian dumpling station, and the wait staff was courteous and professional. However, the lack of organization from Patina's event management team added significant stress both during and leading up to our wedding. A few days after our wedding, we wrote a detailed email to our wedding management team at Patina providing feedback on our experience with them. To date, we have received no response. read more

My husband and I got married at the Palm House a few weeks ago... It was wonderful! In the months before the wedding, Leigh (the Palm House wedding coordinator) dealt with all of our crazy families' requests, which ranged from asking the Palm House to substitute Porteguese cheeses and meats for their usual, bringing in sugar-free desserts for the diebetics in the crowd, setting up an expresso and brandy station, to getting non-standard table seatings (for 12 instead of 8 or 10). We got married in church, and then drove over the Palm House. Leigh met us outside the moment we arrived, and showed us everything that had been set up for the reception to make sure we were happy. Everything was BEAUTIFUL and her recommendations for lay-out worked out flawlessly. The dance floor is huge. The wait-staff were attentive to every table. The dinner portions were huge (which you know the old-ster relatives care alot about!) and all of the food was delicious. Small things to note about the amazing service: -My father missed the jumbo shrimp at the cocktail hour because we were taking family pictures. He was not a happy cat:-). I told Leigh and his waiter brought him a plate of it with dinner. -My dress had a complicated bustle-situation... Leigh bustled it. -Our reception started at six and the gardens closed at 6... so a couple of people tried to take a stroll through the cocktail hour... The Palm House staff handled it so fast I didn't even know it had happened until afterwards. -We realized that because of a few unforseen circumstances, we were going to be under the number of people we'd agreed to at the Palm House. The Palm House lowered the limit for us (even though this was only days before the wedding. My point is, the Palm House is a wonderful place for a wedding... It is pricey (at least for us) but completely worth it. A couple of suggestions if you are considering it - -DEFINITELY have an evening reception, after the garden closes. We were very happy we did this, rather than contending with visitors to the garden being near our event. -Consider the "extra" cocktail hour stations... We got the Tuscan station, and our guests really liked it. -Consider using the Palm House vendors... We used one of their recommended photographers, bakers and linens vendors, and we were very happy. -Check out the bathrooms if you have people who are in wheelchairs attending the reception... The handicapped bathrooms are not super close or super large. Enjoy your event:-) read more

I went to this venue with my finance and event planner and was shown the worst customer service by Charles. I wanted to see where the ceremony would take place but Charles actually pointed to the area INSTEAD of taking us on a tour. I quickly voided the $5,000 deposit !!!!! read more

The Brooklyn Botanic Garden is a wedding dream venue for numerous reasons beyond the physical beauty of the location. We were fortunate to have our wedding there this past June and are very grateful to the caterers, Charles Sally & Charles for helping us celebrate our marriage with so much class and beauty. The food was amazing! They provided pages of food options to select from, including sophisticated vegetarian options. The hors d'oeuvres and cocktail hour arrangements were very popular with our guests, and the entrées were delicious. After our wedding, my wife and I spoke about our hope to return to the Palm House as guests so we can enjoy the dinner a second time. Heather, our event coordinator was very organized, professional and warm. We felt very confident with our wedding in her hands and she delivered us an incredible memory to share with our family and guests. Everything just went so smoothly and we happily lost ourselves that day. Heather coordinated with our vendors and Charles Sally & Charles ran a smooth and seamless event. The only drama that afternoon was a brief spot of rain an hour or so before our guests were to arrive. Heather, however, pushed the window of the "inside or outside" decision time so we could have an outdoor ceremony in the gardens. The sky cleared up, they quickly set up the seats and so began our dream wedding! read more

My review is for Charles Sally Charles, who for the past 30 years have done the weddings, catering and the cafe at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. They unfortunately will be leaving the Brooklyn Botanic Garden September of this year (2014). So my five stars only lasts as long as they are there. My husband and I got married in June of 2009. Our wedding is still talked about with friends and family as the best wedding! The execution, the staff, and don't even get me started on the food! It was quality of a fine dining restaurant, and that is not often said about food/catering at weddings! My husband and I come from the hospitality industry. To us there is nothing more important than service and the quality of the product provided. So I will address these two aspects. Service: On the day of our wedding it rained, they had our ceremony set up outside, when the rain became too much in a blink of an eye they had the ceremony set up inside. They continued to have a cocktail hour and then dinner set up flawlessly. I don't know how this was done with no interruption to the festivities! They are definitely a fine oiled machine! Leigh, who was our wedding coordinator the day of, is one of the most caring, organized and efficient people I have ever met. Just thinking of her I tear up with love for her! And what has really been the icing on our exeptional wedding cake ;) is the years to follow. The relationship we built with Charles and everyone at the Palm House has lasted. Charles understands and is able to give the experience you want and need for an exceptional wedding. We are genuinely going to be heart broken when we don't see our Charles Sally Charles family when we go to the Botanic Garden. Quality: During our wedding my husband was studying for his Diploma in wine and spirits. This being said, the beverage selection was one we were proud of and truly enjoyed drinking! The food was fresh, local when available, and beautiful. The meat was cooked to perfection and the vegetarian options were not an after thought. From the bartenders, cooks, servers and everyone in-between perfection and love is given with every sip and bite! I cannot recommend them more, and will follow and recommend anywhere they end up! read more

I got married October 2015 at the Palm House and I had a really good experience with the event coordinator and catering, Patina. The room itself is beautiful but needs to be decorated with flowers and linens obviously. Sarah was really amazing to work with and treated me like gold. The catering was fantastic and was probably the highlight of the wedding. Just use caution if selecting vendors on their preferred vendor list, I didn't have a good experience with the florist I chose (my fault not theirs!). My husband and I got married at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden this past June and we had the reception here at the Palm House. The entire day was spectacular! The food was wonderful my guests are still raving about it! The staff was absolutely perfect, they took extra care to make sure that my Husband and I were taken care of with food and drink. The on site coordinator Leigh was absolutely fabulous. She took the time to meet with myself, my designer and my coordinator a few weeks earlier to do a walk through so that we could all be on the same page. Leigh was calm and organized as she took us through the day. I was very grateful to have her there guiding us throughout the gardens for photos and then making sure we were all ready for a quick rehearsal before the ceremony. I'm so happy that we chose The Palm House to be our reception venue. Bottom line: The room is beautiful, the staff were wonderful and the food was fantastic! read more

The setting is beautiful, but what really made the event magical was the professionalism, warmth, and graciousness of the Charles Sally and Charles team. Before the event, they answered every inquiry and every anxious email, never once making me feel like I was driving them crazy. And on the day of the wedding, the "day-of" person met our every need, from the food and drink for the early crowd, to getting the little flower girl (not quite 3) in gear, to making sure we did not leave anything behind. Our daughter was married on the Osborne terrace and the reception was at the atrium of the Brooklyn botanic garden. Our weather was perfect and the level of service was excellent. There was tram service to the ceremony area and back.. A touch that I never even thought about. The cocktail space on the terrace was just lovely. The butler passed hor d'ouvres were excellent and plentiful . Our stations of raw shellfish and sushi were also well stocked at all times. There was plenty of seating outside as well as tall tables so our guests were very comfortable. Indoors, the atrium space was truly magical. Again service top notch. Emily, our coordinator, was wonderful..keeping us all clan from early on and staying with us until the bitter end, while our car service abandoned us. We are thoroughly pleased with. We just had my daughter's Bat Mitzvah lunch reception at the Palm House. The food was delicious, and the director of catering, Leigh, is a dream to work with--funny and warm and supportive. The setting is so beautiful, particularly for a day event, and Leigh can recommend a number of vendors whom she knows and trusts from past experience. Highly recommended. read more
