It is old and smells like feet, but it's quiet and clean, has good hot water and comfortable beds & pillows. Internet and coffee are good. There are 2 stories, with both an elevator and carpeted wide stairs. Unfortunately we were first given a dank room (126) with a nonworking HVAC. Then it took ~30min to get passkeys to another room!! It was hard to stay calm with the clerk. But room 132 was much better (I think a suite). The window was screened and opened for fresh air. Woohoo! The bathroom had an exhaust fan, also a big plus. Sink area was tiny but plenty of fresh towels. Tiny toiletries were provided. Paper products stiff but OK, flush pretty good but clunky, shower pressure OK and it gets Hot. Our new room was by the side door so that was perfect for being unobtrusive bringing in and out our bicycles. Rooms are big enough to store bikes out of the way. The guy at the front desk said "many, many" people bring in bikes. Our room even had a photo of a bicycle! There are plenty of restaurants in nearby towns. Afterwards we slept pretty well despite a room that never got cool. Breakfast (6-8am!) was "Eh," but we had a waffle, greasy sausage, prefab scrambled eggs, an ill-tasting hardboiled egg, nice apple juice, and plenty of coffee. We skipped the old-looking fruit, cereal, sugary mini-muffins and generic yogurt . It was not crowded at all. Afterwards we returned and relaxed in our quiet room (132 has 2 TVs!). Checked out and back to trail. In conclusion, this place is older and slow, but also quietly relaxing and comfortable. If old carpeting doesn't bother you, then this place is a good value. Freshly ground medium roast & decaf coffee were a nice touch from the machine. There are no restaurants in the hotel but options were nearby within short driving distance. The indoor pool included a hot whirlpool. The fitness room overlooking this had a full rack of weights for light workout. Both were minimally used but equipped with towels and sanitation station, respectively. The outdoor patio in the back of the hotel was clean and well-maintained. Potpourri sachets in the closet, free water bottles in the lobby, free coffee stations on each floor, and chocolates every night on the pillows--details, people! We also enjoyed the indoor pool and hot tub, and of course the gorgeous patio and firepits overlooking the lake which was 80% of the reason we booked here. All of the staff we encountered, from the front desk to the housekeepers, were very friendly. I did think it was a little strange that the fitness center was in a whole different building and you have to walk across the parking lot to get to it, but hey--you get your steps in. The hotel is also very centrally located. On the water, of course, but next door to Seneca Harbor Station from which you can book lake cruises. It's also less than a mile from the entrance to Watkins Glen State Park and hiking trails and only a 5-10 minute walk from most restaurants. We did most things on foot. When you do get back in the car, there are multiple wineries within a 15-minute drive. The only problem the whole visit was the hotel internet, which was terrible every day. You could make do in the daytime, but at night, when everyone was back in their rooms after the day out exploring, it was slow to the point of unusable, and I ended up turning on my data hotspot to even be able to check my email. I would not suggest bringing time-sensitive work with you, and you should not expect to be able to stream videos on your devices. Just disconnect, you'll be less frustrated. There is an onsite restaurant and bar, and while it's nothing mind-blowing, it is a nice option to have (and is one of the few "higher end" type places in Watkins Glen). Menu includes a few of the standard local wines, which was nice!

You should give me a full refund". And I left. I drove right by my next Hampton Inn reservation in Ohio 8 hours later. And drove straight home. The Hampton Inn in Geneseo to speak to "Stephanie" today inquiring about where my refund was. She asked what happened and I explained. She said " someone should have offered you another room ". I replied "If I'm packing my shit up, I'm only doing it once." She said, " Well I was going to give you a $50 refund but I'm not, because you're cussing at me!" I said " I sure hope you're recording this call, because I haven't cussed " at you" once! She said, " You said "If I'm packing my shit up, I'm only doing it once." I said" That is not cussing at you, I'm talking about packing my shit up!" She hung up on me. I'm done with Hampton Inn completely.
