The hosts greeted us as friends and were very welcoming. We stayed in the "Hubbell" room" on the top floor at the front of the house facing Main Street. You could hear the traffic so if you're a light sleeper, you might request a room away from the front or use your white noise device like I do when I travel. The room (and whole house) was immaculate, cozy, and welcoming. Breakfast was gourmet peaches and cream stuffed French toast with fruit. The presentation was beautiful and tasted wonderful. I can't wait to come back and spend more time here. Even through the pandemic, our hosts maintained detailed social distance requirements while providing a very hospitable experience. There is a tv in the room - they provide you with bathrobes , snacks , there's fridges in the hallway full of pop , there's a little box on the vanity with stuff you may have forgetten. There's a basket of first aid stuff in the hallway. The workers and cook are wonderful ! The breakfast was AMAZING. I highly recommend if you are looking for a quick getaway and to enjoy the wineries!

Canandaigua is kind of a swanky Rochester summertime place..in the late fall/edge of winter walking…read moredown to our French bistro...it has the charm but a bit of the desolation of downtown Akron at 7pm (certainly not in the throes of the tourist season..) . Fortunately...this Finger Lakes head-of-the-lake town is very pleasant. We shook up the routine from our usual B and B and stayed here.. a very cool old Victorian place with a very cool Innkeeper (Karen and I talked the merits of Pink Floyd and also the local music venue CMAC). The Innkeeper swapped out her life in Hawaii for a very different kind of winter...but she kept her good island spirit along with the eclectic sense of these Inns. Good DVD selection if you are staying in for the night (along with Roku/cable TV)...including some decent indy movies. Room was charming... nice themes of the Women's Freedom trail on the wall as well. Breakfast was excellent along with some really fine house baked cookies. Easy parking in front.. The downstairs is a nice wood floored living room with the dining area. Will definitely be back..

My husband and I pulled into the driveway and parked in the charming backyard. Walking up, the front porch is just adorable! If it had been warmer, I would have loved to sit out and enjoy the porch. We were greeted immediately by the owner and she gave us a tour and showed us to our room. We stayed in the Ann Eliza suite, the only room with a balcony. It was beautiful when you first walk in. Fluffy comfortable bed and those sheets!! Like heaven to sleep in. Breakfast each day was delicious. As I mentioned, I can be a piggy, so it took all of my willpower to not ask for seconds and thirds! Some of the courses LOOKED so simple and unsuspecting, but once you taste it, you can really appreciate and notice the unique flavors. Enjoy your stay if you decide to go!

Jill also very kindly made our reservations for one of our nights dinners and also gave us so many suggestions for activities to do while in town. Of course the 3 course breakfast is top notch and absolutely delicious. One of our other favorites about the b&b is the private patio connected to the Ann Eliza suite which we stayed in. The home is a beautifully restored and dates to the early 19th century. The guest rooms (stayed in the Carson room) were wonderfully furnished and exceptionally comfortable. Our room's bathroom is one of the finest of any place I have ever stayed. They have anticipated every possible need, from q-tips and cotton balls in the bathroom to a stocked fridge with beer, soda and water. A remarkable room. The food both days we stayed was also terrific. Especially the Eggs Benedict (one of my favorites), which was as good as I have ever had. But what I think sets this place a part is the hospitality. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, we felt as if we were valued friends that came for a visit. We were met on the porch when we arrived. Introduced to other guest who were in the library. And promptly offered a glass of wine. While enjoying two glasses of wine with our hosts, they made suggestions (great ones at that) for dinner that night and the next and then called and made the reservations for us. After dinner on the first night, we joined our hosts and other guests for drinks and champagne to toast the first anniversary of fellow guest (who stayed at the inn on their wedding night as well). The Inn keepers provided the champagne (and wine) and had cute anniversary glasses for the toast. We sat talking to the other guests and hosts as if we had been old friends, well into the night. The second night after returning from a birthday celebration dinner for my girlfriend, we were surprised with one of the best chocolate cakes I have had. Kathryn is such a gracious host, making sure every detail is just right and offering advice of things to do and places to see. Our room was very comfortable and well appointed. Breakfast was amazing and different each morning of our stay. In the evenings, we enjoyed her company as we wound down from our busy day. She is a big fan of The Voice and one evening we all got caught up on the current season! Canandaigua is a great location and has great options for dining in the area and Kathryn is very knowledgeable of the latest and greatest. We will definitely return next time we head back to the region.

The refrigerator was located in the closet and was unplugged upon arrival as was one of the only two lamps in the room. I had to crawl behind the bed (very dusty and dirty) to plug-in the lamp for marginal room illumination. How anyone could report that the place was clean leaves me wondering how some people live. The double size bed was situated up against the wall, making it necessary for the second bed occupant to crawl over the other bed occupant to exit the bed (very thoughtless design layout). This room should have been designated for single person use only. The parking area that was designated for the house guests only was extremely inadequate (tight and dotted with large stones that one had to navigate to exit the vehicle. The main driveway open area was restricted to the proprietors use only. This is slightly short sited and selfish. Speaking about the proprietor, she was missing in action, intentionally avoiding the obligatory social contact that is expected and necessary for a B & B hostess. The minimal breakfast was set out on a small serving table in the front living room and you were expected to share your meal with the numerous bees on the front porch while balancing a plate on your lap. The website pictured dining table was completely unavailable and behind closed doors. We never set eyes on the dining table. All I could think of was a bait and switch game during our entire stay. The swimming pool exhibited a closed sign for the entire period with no access on both 90 degree days. After thirty years of operating a B & B establishment (as is posted on the website), I would expect that the commonly written criticisms would have been improved and corrected by this time. The room itself was clean. Beds were comfortable. But the breakfast ranked a zero. Very poorly stocked. Out of everything at 9 am with still an hour to go. Pancake machine not working. Juice machine iffy. Garbage cans overflowing, tables dirty. I think the staff was totally overwhelmed because the hotel appeared to be full. This is the first time the breakfast was so disappointing and we have stayed at many HI Express hotels.

It was the rain pounding on the roof of the hotel since I was in the upper floor.
