The salon itself is lovely--ample parking, beautifully ventilated, and filled with natural light. Sayge was ready for me even though I arrived a few minutes early (I truly appreciate punctuality). We had a thoughtful conversation about my hair goals, and she carefully assessed my hair before offering professional recommendations I hadn't even considered. She spent about 4.5 hours working her magic, and the results are stunning--by far the best hair service I've received in Chico in the years I've lived here. I'm very sensitive to beauty products and chemicals, and everything she used was gentle and perfectly suited for someone like me. Sayge is young but clearly highly skilled, creative, and thoughtful in her technique. Considering the time, care, and quality products, her pricing is very reasonable. I highly recommend it!

I cancelled so she would be able to fill my spot with someone else. She texted me while I was snowed in saying I owed a cancellation fee that was 3/4 of the price of lashes. I told her that I did not know there was cancellation fee since she had not told me about it while we are on the phone and therefore did not think I should have to pat for it to which she agreed. As an ex-stylist I understanding needing to put another customer in place of a cancellation. She had plenty of time to fill my spot. My guess is that she did not cancel on her book. About a month later I called to book an appointment after being snowed in for 2 weeks. I asked the person who answered to ask her to return my call. She did not. I messaged her a few days later to ask why she did not call me and she replied that she would no longer accept me as a client and that I should have cancelled on the website. I can't find a web site for them. I feel that since I cancelled in time to allow her to book a client and had not contacted her through her website that this is uncalled for and just plain rude and uncaring. I do NOT recommend her services and because of her behavior I do not recommend Roots Beauty Bar for any service. They are not from Paradise and have no feelings or understanding of Paradise residents and all that we have been through with the Camp Fire nor how we treat each other. A little understanding and caring would go far with her. Valerie is NOT recommended!! Do not book with her!

Kind, extremely responsible, very talented and warm. Listens to my needs and helps me to achieve the look I want without over processing and always keep hair health a priority. Sunshine's blonding skills are outstanding. Her attention to detail and foil procession are amazing. The salon overall is so welcoming and inviting. Super high ceilings, big front windows for natural light, comfortable stylist chairs, great downtown location and the most gorgeous plants throughout the space. When we arrived they said that person wasn't there but they could put us with others. My son went with David. He came out with the worst haircut of his life. Admittedly, I should have helped them figure out what my son was looking for. He was chopped in a bad way. According to my son, David told him that if he didn't like the cut he could come back within 5 days to have it fixed.... Is that normal to not stand behind your work the first time? Why would we return to the same person...David "finished" the cut and ran out of the place. His child was sitting there the whole time. It was just a strange experience. It was so bad that we took him to get it fixed two days later and the barber couldn't believe what had been done to my kids hair!
