My…read moreexperience with her has been nothing short of a nightmare--one that has left me in excruciating pain, out of pocket for an emergency root canal, and questioning how someone so incompetent was ever allowed to practice dentistry. I originally went in for a routine cleaning. X-rays were taken, and I was told everything looked fine, except that I supposedly needed two crowns. Trusting the so-called expertise of Dr. Calderon, I agreed to the procedure--one crown at a time. That was the worst decision I could have made. During the crown procedure, she removed far more of my tooth than she "anticipated"--something I wasn't informed of until after the damage was already done. I was in pain, but I expected some discomfort. What I didn't expect was for the pain to intensify so badly over the weekend that by Monday, I could barely function. The pain spread to my ear, I had splitting headaches, and I couldn't even chew. When I went back in, Dr. Calderon barely examined me before immediately claiming that my X-rays showed no issues with the crown or placement. Instead, she suggested that I either had an infection or--conveniently--now needed a root canal. Funny, because at no point before the crown was I ever told I had any issue requiring a root canal. And when I told her I wasn't in pain before the crown, she had the audacity to claim that I would have been eventually. I didn't realize she had a crystal ball that could predict my future pain. Something didn't sit right with me, so I sought a second opinion. And that's when I found out the horrifying truth: I NEVER EVEN NEEDED THE CROWN IN THE FIRST PLACE. The new dentist reviewed my X-rays, took their own, and confirmed that the procedure was unnecessary. They also warned me not to proceed with the second crown Dr. Calderon claimed I needed. But it gets worse--the crown she placed was so poorly done that it directly caused my need for a root canal. Even the assistant at the new office made a comment about the low quality of her work before the doctor even looked at it. So now, thanks to Dr. Calderon's complete lack of skill, I am paying out of pocket to fix a problem she created, suffering through extreme pain, and having to get an emergency root canal--all because she didn't know what she was doing. And instead of admitting her mistake, she tried to cover it up. Dr. Calderon, if you ever see this, I hope you think about the pain and suffering you've caused me every single day. Had you just taken accountability and apologized, I might have been willing to work with you. But instead, you chose to gaslight me into believing this was somehow inevitable. It wasn't. You caused this. And now, I will make it my mission to report you to the California Dental Association, every organization you're affiliated with, and even your alma mater, Loma Linda University. The fact that someone like you was allowed to graduate and practice dentistry is terrifying. To anyone reading this: Stay far, far away from Dr. Calderon and Smile Dentistry. Trusting her was the worst mistake I've ever made, and I wouldn't wish this experience on anyone.

After waiting over two months for an appointment, I brought my daughter Ciara to Dr. Rick Nichols Just for Kids Pediatric Dentistry today. This was supposed to be her first visit. This morning, I received a call from their office asking me to complete two new patient forms. I filled both out online immediately. We then headed to the appointment but ran into unexpected stopped traffic. Wanting to be responsible and respectful of their time, I called the office as soon as we got on the freeway to let them know we might be cutting it close. I was told there was a 10-minute grace period. We arrived within that window. Here's where things went sideways: Despite submitting both forms back-to-back, they claimed they only received one. This seemed highly unlikely given how their system is set up. Instead of helping resolve the issue, I was met with unnecessary rudeness from the front desk staff (I was given two different names: Melody or Isabel), who told me to "hurry up" and re-do the form or risk losing the appointment. I was already doing everything I could, and yet I was treated like I was the problem. Shortly after, I was told that the dentist had decided he would not see Ciara and that we would need to reschedule. No apology. No ownership. No attempt to accommodate or understand. Just a dismissive brush-off. I had already followed all instructions, provided insurance months ago, confirmed the appointment repeatedly, and communicated in real time when we hit traffic. To be dismissed like this, especially in a pediatric setting, is incredibly disappointing. To Dr. Nichols: If you're unaware of how your staff is treating new patients and families, I hope you'll take this as an opportunity to investigate and address it. Your practice came highly recommended by several people we trust (and you know personally outside your practice), and we were genuinely looking forward to this visit. Sadly, our experience was anything but welcoming or acceptable. And to the staff involved: In a family-focused practice, basic kindness and professionalism should not be optional. I will gladly drive farther for a provider who values their patients and not simply a mill pumping out patients.
