Good beyond words. Hot, tasty and filling. An unexpected treat.

Don't judge a book by its cover. From the street the Pasty Place is humble. The magic that happens inside is otherworldly. A hot, tasty 1 pound pasty baked to perfection with meat that looked like prime rib; definitely not ground beef. There is no inside dining or outside seating. We got simple directions to the racetrack park several blocks away. All we needed was a picnic table. The pasty was marvelous, so was the cole slaw. We went back to the shop and I told the owner how much we enjoyed her mastery of the pasty and I promised to write a review.

This is the $12 pasty meal. The coleslaw was so crunchy and tasty.

Grew up in MT so I know the historical significance of the 'Pasty' to Montana mining culture. If you don't, look it up. At any rate, driving through with my kid and took a circuitous route through town. So glad we did because we passed this place. Neither of us was particularly hungry but I said 'you have to try this' and I did a quick I-turn with our truck and trailer. No small feat. The place is...nondescript. Residential/industrial neighborhood, nothing particularly outstanding about the surroundings. You walk up to a window and place your order. We got 'The Hungry Miner' with gravy and slaw on the side. $13. It was huge. Fed us both. I was driving and told the kid to eat as much as he wanted and I'd eat the rest. He (a 17 year old young man) got through half of it. We swapped driving so I could eat the rest. So good. Very hearty. Very worth a slight detour off the highway. Cannot recommend more highly. This place is now in my top ten of food destinations. read more

I've tried a few pasty shops around Butte, but never quite understood the attraction. Until now. The Pasty Place has the most flavorful of them all. The crust is delicious and the filling is savory. I'll be back! read more

Absolutely delicious , worth a drive from surrounding areas. Perfectly seasoned to eat alone, gravy takes it to next level. Owner couldn't be nicer, glad this tradition continues on. read more

Being a Butte kid now in MN I was sad the see Nancy pass. But the pasties live on and IMO the crust and overall pastie has been improved. Stopped in July and had a great convo and got some pasties. They are huge and very good read more

Nancy would be proud, the pasties are in my opinion the best in town. In the last two weeks I've tried them all and have to say The Pasty Place has the edge. We always went to Nancy's and the new owner seems to have taken it to a new level. Thanks for keeping it going! read more
