Long ago there was still wild women

My go to place for clothing to wear to special events or places. I came in for another A line skirt to wear for a dinner this month. I was not disappointed. I found a black vegan leather skirt that fit perfectly. Got a matching belt to go with it. Even with the theater traffic filling the store, the service was its topical top notch. Since I shop here a few times a year, they know my style. I also found a Christmas present for a hard to buy for person. A book I know they would love. If you are buying for a strong woman, you will find find lots to choose from. What I love is the mixture of classic style and the edgy items that you will be the only one wearing it when you show up for an event or even a meal. You don't know how many people have asked me where I got my outfit when I step out for a dinner or a brunch at some very high class places. Never disappoint when I shop here.

A bunch of fabulousness in the heart of the City! Have you ever stumbled across a gem that you have walked passed seemingly a million times and never noticed it...never even knew it was there? That's the Peacock Room for me. I visited the Peacock Room for a Yelp event last week, and completely fell in love. Throughout my entire visit I took mental and pictorial note of what I must go back to purchase. I mean...I'm even thinking about taking up a pt holiday job so that I can afford everything I want! My pictures tell some of the story, but this gem is something that one really must experience in person. The gorgeous staff was wonderful, funny, friendly and engaging. They seemed like a group of friends who got together to make every woman in Detroit fabulous. I could tell that every glove, hat, scarf, piece of jewelry, headband, pair of sunglasses...I mean every accessory known to womankind...were all so carefully selected to for the boutique. I didn't even have a chance to look at clothing, but I will during future visits. I bought a cocktail recipe book and noticed several cute glasses, mugs and bartending tools. Speaking of books, I eyed some gems that I must add to my library. Please visit to buy gifts for special folks in your life. Anything you'd purchase there is sure to be adored. My wardrobe has been in need of the Peacock Room. I'm blessed to have found her.

My friend and I stopped into this adorable shop before seeing Six at the Fisher Theater. We were both full of FOMO having seen all the wonderful women coming to the show with tiaras and crowns, so we were thrilled when we were able to find exactly what we were looking for at a very reasonable price! The sales staff was very upbeat and helpful and we enjoyed looking around before we went to the show, crowns firmly in place! I would like to go back when I have more time to fully explore all the wonderful items in this shop.

How well does the aesthetic of The Peacock Room match that of the Fischer building??

SUCH A CUTE STORE I hardly even have the words to describe it! First of all, the location...DIVINE! I'm obsessed that it's located right inside the Fischer building. Now that I know this place exists, it is 100% somewhere I would want to make time to come in and check out before attending shows in this building & honestly, the aesthetic of this place perfectly fits in with the Fischer. Second of all, everything this place sells speaks to my little novelty heart. I LOVE IT! There is so many adorable options for you to really dress up to your heart's content! Jewelry, purses, dresses, coats, homegoods, and accessories galore! Do yourself a favor and spend some time in this store stocked to the brim with such wonderful goodies that honestly make you feel like a little girl playing dress up again, but in a very mature way haha!

Breath taking! The Fisher building is a gem in itself! Speechless with the art and architecture! The peacock room is the second to last store on the west side of the building. There is easy access street parking and a beautiful inside corridor walk to the peacock rooms door... the staff was beyond friendly. The three ladies helped me, and I them, as I was the 3rd Yelp member through their door. I ended up getting an extra pair of socks because they were too funny to pass up! I will be back to explore the other options they have to offer. A homie feel to unique items makes this a must see spot!

I love my new Christmas purse!!

I just LOVE this store! You will never come here and not find something that you really really want. It's the perfect place to buy that impossible gift And at Christmas, this is a MUST SHOP!

A womens clothing, jewelry, and accessory store located in a grand old art deco office building. It had original ceilings, which is cool. I can't judge the clothing because I am a guy, but it seems trendy and the accessories are cool. The staff is nice and helpful. Shopping the way I imagine it was in the good old days.

The Peacock Room is a sight to behold for fans of the Roaring 20s and its fashion, as well as for the fabulous Art Deco style of legendary Detroit-based architect Albert Kahn. In fact, The Peacock Room is the last store in the Fisher Building with its original molding. Coming here really is like traveling back to an era of glamour and elegance that has captivated my imagination since reading The Great Gatsby in high school. The store's location originally housed a gown shop, then a bank, then a credit union. The opening of The Peacock Room returns the space to its former glory as a gown shop specializing in women's evening wear and vintage inspired jewelry and accessories. I've had the pleasure of speaking several times with the shop's friendly retail associates, Danielle and Sarah. They are very knowledgeable about the New Center area and the history of the store. When I visited them today, they were helping several girls try on evening gowns as this is the season to start early dress shopping for Homecoming. The Peacock Room is a must-see when at the Fisher Building. The interior architecture is breathtaking, and everything from the jewelry to the evening gowns and daywear are beautiful and classic.

The Peacock Room is the place to be if you love quirky, unique, and vintage items! They have a wide selection of vintage-styled women's clothing and lots of accessories for your home. They have something for you and everyone on your list! Their selection of jewelry is beautiful and fun, tons of purses, books, mugs, kitchen towels, potholders, socks and more! The cashiers were so kind and the store was breathtaking with its architectural style. The store is located inside the Fisher Theatre building, so the walk to the store is just as charming as the inside of the store is! A must-visit for those who love pinup and 1960s style, and a great spot to pick up a little something special for a loved one.

Incredibly beautiful space. They renovated the space to celebrate the jaw dropping Fisher Building architecture and the loving attention to detail really shows. The goods are also fantastic. They carry a beautiful mix of vintage and newer pieces, and they're size inclusive to boot. Here you'll find clothing, jewelry and other accessories, plus a nice selection of gifts and home goods as well. Looking for a new piece to make you feel fancy or a sparkly outfit for a special occasion? They've got it! Service is also incredible. Everything about this place is excellent!

I don't often frequent the Fisher building so I'm so glad I was able to stop in and discover The Peacock Room.

"Your dresses should be tight enough to show you're a woman and loose enough to show you're a…read morelady."- Edith Head For someone used to wearing pants, dress shopping can be a little intimidating. This is doubly true when shopping outside your realm of knowledge- in this case, sari shopping. This is a world governed by fabrics and stones and stitching, where pricing can fluctuate wildly depending on how aggressively you deride their sticker price. If I were a raccoon or a crow, I'd be in shiny-thing heaven; as a Detroiter with a wardrobe ready for corporate finance, all the bling was a little overwhelming. The patterns and colors seemed so brazen, and in my mind sequins were relegated to Vegas showgirls and grandmas with mad Bedazzler skills. Still, with some expert assistance, I took the plunge and tried some things that were way out of my comfort zone, and they looked AMAZING. Maloncho is directly across from the heavy-hitter of sari shops, Rima Sari Center. As such, they differentiate themselves by specializing in more affordable outfits, in a much more customer friendly setting. Maloncho is bright and maneuverable, service is friendly and attentive, and bargaining is more readily accepted- everything that Rima is not. The most expensive saris are around $300, compared to the $300-$1000 at Rima. The dressing room is large and well lit, perfect for trying on multiple outfits and giving yourself a once over before coming out to show your companions. The rule of thumb at the sari shops in this area is that the price on the sticker is just a starting point for negotiations- you should expect at least $20-30 dollars off a cheap dress, and about 40% off an expensive dress. Also, the first discounted price they give you is NOT the best price that can be had. Ask a few times for the best price or for additional things thrown in for free (tailoring or jewelry), or simply make an offer. Tailoring at this location should run between $5 and $10 dollars and take roughly 24hrs to complete, well worth it for a garment to fit perfectly. For a bold red sari, two sets of bangles, and tailoring to take it in a bit, my total bill came to $70- perfectly reasonable for a special ensemble to wear to my best friends wedding. True location differs from what is listed on yelp: 12164 Conant St.

It's my number one place to shop for traditional desi cloths. I even recommended many of my friends and family members to Maloncho due to their excellent customer service and great price.
