Stumbled upon the Peacock room by accident when I was visiting the beautiful Fisher building and what a lovely addition is to a building with such beautiful architecture to have a store that is so charming with beautiful clothes. I ended up finding a sweater that was absolutely adorable and then struck up a conversation with Rachel who, After I told her that I was visiting Detroit for the weekend, gave me lots of suggestions on where to go and we had a really lovely chat. I love this store! They carry vintage looks and beyond. Every article of clothing and accessory I've purchased here is top quality. I call it the store of 1,000 conversation pieces. From dresses, to hats, socks, journals, jewelry, books, and puzzles (and more) there's always something new and interesting to see! They have great customer service and can offer suggestions if you need them. The dressing rooms are roomy, decorative, and needed to make sure your garments work! My go to place for clothing to wear to special events or places. I came in for another A line skirt to wear for a dinner this month. I was not disappointed. I found a black vegan leather skirt that fit perfectly. Got a matching belt to go with it. Even with the theater traffic filling the store, the service was its topical top notch. Since I shop here a few times a year, they know my style. I also found a Christmas present for a hard to buy for person. A book I know they would love. If you are buying for a strong woman, you will find find lots to choose from. What I love is the mixture of classic style and the edgy items that you will be the only one wearing it when you show up for an event or even a meal. A bunch of fabulousness in the heart of the City! Have you ever stumbled across a gem that you have walked passed seemingly a million times and never noticed it...never even knew it was there? That's the Peacock Room for me. I visited the Peacock Room for a Yelp event last week, and completely fell in love. Throughout my entire visit I took mental and pictorial note of what I must go back to purchase. I mean...I'm even thinking about taking up a pt holiday job so that I can afford everything I want! My pictures tell some of the story, but this gem is something that one really must experience in person. The gorgeous staff was wonderful, funny, friendly and engaging. They seemed like a group of friends who got together to make every woman in Detroit fabulous. I could tell that every glove, hat, scarf, piece of jewelry, headband, pair of sunglasses...I mean every accessory known to womankind...were all so carefully selected to for the boutique. I didn't even have a chance to look at clothing, but I will during future visits. I bought a cocktail recipe book and noticed several cute glasses, mugs and bartending tools. My friend and I stopped into this adorable shop before seeing Six at the Fisher Theater. We were both full of FOMO having seen all the wonderful women coming to the show with tiaras and crowns, so we were thrilled when we were able to find exactly what we were looking for at a very reasonable price! The Peacock Room has quickly become one of the only stores that I will shop at to find clothing and gifts. Rachel and her team are outstanding and will go out of their way to help you find what you need. For example, my daughter had a stuffed animal from there that was unfortunately destroyed by an overzealous puppy and when I told Rachel, the owner, about it, she took my name and number and found the exact stuffed animal at a trade show 6 months later and ordered it. Once it came in, her team set it aside and called me to let me know that it had arrived. I honestly can't think of a shop that will go out of their way like The Peacock Room. SUCH A CUTE STORE I hardly even have the words to describe it! First of all, the location...DIVINE! I'm obsessed that it's located right inside the Fischer building. Breath taking! The Fisher building is a gem in itself! Speechless with the art and architecture! The peacock room is the second to last store on the west side of the building. There is easy access street parking and a beautiful inside corridor walk to the peacock rooms door... the staff was beyond friendly. The three ladies helped me, and I them, as I was the 3rd Yelp member through their door. I ended up getting an extra pair of socks because they were too funny to pass up! The Peacock Room is a sight to behold for fans of the Roaring 20s and its fashion, as well as for the fabulous Art Deco style of legendary Detroit-based architect Albert Kahn. In fact, The Peacock Room is the last store in the Fisher Building with its original molding. Coming here really is like traveling back to an era of glamour and elegance that has captivated my imagination since reading The Great Gatsby in high school. The store's location originally housed a gown shop, then a bank, then a credit union. The opening of The Peacock Room returns the space to its former glory as a gown shop specializing in women's evening wear and vintage inspired jewelry and accessories. I've had the pleasure of speaking several times with the shop's friendly retail associates, Danielle and Sarah. They are very knowledgeable about the New Center area and the history of the store. When I visited them today, they were helping several girls try on evening gowns as this is the season to start early dress shopping for Homecoming. The Peacock Room is a must-see when at the Fisher Building. The interior architecture is breathtaking, and everything from the jewelry to the evening gowns and daywear are beautiful and classic. read more

What a place! Knock your eye out gorgeous - both the store and the merchandise. I walked in at lunch time, so I only had a short time to browse, but I ended up with some beautiful earrings that were made from molds salvaged from an old Parisian jewelry factory - what great provenance. I also ended up with some cute socks, Rosie the Riveter mints, and lip balm in a cute 1920's style tin. All the necessary COVID-19 precautions were in place and the masked staff were friendly and knowledgeable about the merchandise. It was fun to just look around and took note that I would shop there first for the next formal occasion that requires a dress. I know my sister would love this place and I have to bring her for maybe a girls' day out for shopping and lunch in downtown. Located on the first floor of the Fisher Building - find it, ladies. And it's not just the beautiful that you can find, it's also the creative, clever, and irreverent. They have dresses for every body and every occasion. All-inclusive sizes and any style. This place was gorgeous! I've been to the Fisher a ton of times for shows, most recently in March for Fiddler on the Roof (before everything got canceled due to COVID), but I had actually never been to the Peacock Room. I had a chance to go today to pick up my Yelp Elite goody bag, and Susan M. and I went. I literally wanted to buy all the earrings here, but they are pricey: most were around $50-80 per pair, although made with Swarovski crystals. I think I did see a few $15-30 ones but they didn't have crystals. All of the dresses were super pretty, and they also have fun gift-y type things that you might see at Leon & Lulu; I ended up buying a greeting card. They are taking COVID seriously too: all employees were masked and I think there was a maximum of 5-6 people in the shop at any given time. Note that you can't access the shop from the outside of the Fisher building, also - you have to go inside to get in. When we first arrived the door was locked and the reason was because they were at capacity. Glad that Yelp introduced me to this shop, and I will be back at some point ... maybe before a show, once things get back to "normal," hopefully! read more

Such a fun shop! We were just stopping by to pick up a Yelp goodie bag for their event later this week, but couldn't resist stopping in, since we were there. My daughter instantly fell in love with a great coat, but it was a bit out of our price range. The snarky and fun oven mitts, socks, and napkins were very tempting though. The last couple things that caught our eyes were the great tiara display, and then my daughter saw a couple adorable cherry dresses. The shop is the original architecture from the '30s and it's grand, it really makes you feel as if you're shopping in the '30s. If you just go to The Peacock Room to see the Fisher Building, you've won. However, take a good look at all of what The Peacock Room has to offer. Dresses - Take a look at their dresses. Many are vintage-inspired. On my last visit, there were several gorgeous ones in rich gem-colored tones, ruby, emerald, navy. In addition, they carry a very solid selection of classically cut dresses and also trendy ones. The Peacock Room carries a full range of sizes, up into the 20s. This was a lovely surprise to me when I first started shopping here. I have several beloved dresses from my first visit to this shop. Gifts and fun - snarky socks or tea towels? Yes. Sparkly jewelry? They've got it. Sunglasses. Greeting cards. Puzzles (beautiful puzzlers for all my puzzling friends)! Christmas ornaments (in season, of course). The staff here is super helpful. If you're looking for a gift, they can guide you and provide ideas you may not have thought of. I went to The Peacock Room to pick up something for a Yelp Virtual Event. Of course, I love that it's in the gorgeous Fisher Building. This store is a real treasure, it was originally a custom dress shop, you can see that much of the walls and trim were untouched, thankfully. There are murals and I learned so much from an employee (I think her name was Sara), she gave me a brief history of the store and what they've done to get it to the state its in now. The store has so much cool stuff, including vintage inspired clothing, accessories and gifts. I wish I hadn't already done my Christmas shopping, because I saw things that I would have bought there. There were 3 ladies working the Saturday that I was there, they were all very helpful and sweet. I will be back when I'm in the market for some nice gifts. read more

I got some cute headbands and a key chain for a Christmas present and they had a deal where you buy $25 worth of goodies and get a pair of pearl earrings for free! What a fabulous shopping experience. I went to The Peacock Room on Halloween to pick up a Yelp item and was so stinking excited to be knocking a Detroit small business off my bucket list. I'd known of The Peacock Room from their great Facebook page but also from numerous people who adored it. I haven't done much shopping in the time of COVID but I was happy to have an excuse to. At the intersection of gorgeous 1920s old Hollywood aesthetic and modern day quirky gifts and goods, TPR genuinely has something for everyone. The store is a carefully curated and unique retail experience. I was delighted to find clothing in my size, about every pair of cute earrings in existence, strings of real pearls, Tokyomilk fragrances, wraps, dresses, tiaras, sassy socks... Everywhere you look is an item worth considering. What I landed on was an item I didn't need, but an item that I saw and immediately wanted: a stuffed peacock with a tiny crown. I held it and had the conversation with myself. I'm in my mid 30s - do I need a stuffed animal? I briefly considered that I could give it to my sibling who is in her preteen years... But as I looked at it, I knew it had to stay with me. It's just fun. Maybe it has to do with the current times we're in, maybe it has to do with the fact that I haven't bought something for myself in a while. But I now needed this peacock. I brought it home. It makes me happy. I get the feeling that anything in that place could elicit that spark of joy. I can't wait to go back and knock out some items on my Christmas list. I am absolutely OBSESSED with The Peacock room! Not only do I get to strut the halls of the illustrious Fisher Building like I'm on Detroit's 30 under 30 list, but I got to have my own mini fashion show, trying on dresses of all different aesthetics. The highlight of this Shop is the staff (and the other patrons!) who hype you up/give compliments/suggestions when you exit the fitting room. It really felt like I was just out for a girls day, shopping with friends. If dresses aren't your jam, there's plenty of accessories, jewelry and odds and ends for you to peruse through. Only downside- there are fur items in the shop. With such quality faux furs existing these days, no reason to bring animals into the mix anymore. Can't wait to be back soon, getting a dress that I promise I'll wear to more than one occasion but really won't! read more

Lots of unique touches to top off an outfit: fascinators, hats, boas, bags, sunnies, and sparkle out the whazoo! What is not to love about that? A few fave brands spotted: Voodoo Vixen, Stop Staring!, Samuel Dong, Mary Frances and many more. If I lived here, this would be on my regular rotation. This is a gorgeous store! I don't often frequent the Fisher building so I'm so glad I was able to stop in and discover The Peacock Room. They have an array of boutique and vintage inspired clothing, jewelry, home goods, gifts, and others. They were so sweet and offered my son a little "buy local" coloring book, which he loves. The store is a little busy with items, many right at eye level for littles ones, so I wouldn't necessarily recommend bringing a stroller or toddler in unless they're aware of not touching things. When you walk into the store, you are created with everything that sparkles, high ceilings with intricately painted details, and a warm atmosphere. While most of the store isn't really my style, I still found ole ty of tongue-in-cheek items to make me chuckle. I ended up picking up a Justin Trudeau lapel pin.
