What a great little mom and pop spot in Shanty Creek! The dude behind the bar was awesome and the food was made with love. The spicy fried pickles were solid. Not too hot and had a great crispy texture. It was the pizza that did it for me. I ordered a personal pizza, no sauce, pepperoni, pineapple, and jalapeño. Yes, pineapple belongs on pizza! The crust was the star. But I love how it came out hot and the cheese had such a sick cheese pull. When you're up here, make sure you visit this spot. The servers and bartenders made our group feel at home! Also, I know the bartender didn't think I noticed... but I was really appreciative of him not changing the golf tournament we were watching when the guy requested the Tigers game. We were a little confused when we arrived at the address as the restaurant is part of a resort and the actual location is a small building sitting behind a handful of other buildings. If you're seeing a giant neon PIZZA sign you've found it. The food itself was okay enough but nothing overly special, especially for the price. The atmosphere was very comfortable though and the guy who runs the place seems to care a lot which was nice to see. They also have live music if you're into that. All in all I'd say if you're on the resort (or staying less than a mile away like we were) it's a good close option but I wouldn't drive out of my way to eat here. read more

Some of the worst food I've ever eaten. Pizza was by far the worst I've had. Had one slice and threw the rest away. Pasta was barely worth eating. Burger was as from a frozen patty. Their phone number didn't work and you couldn't order online so had to walk down to order from our room. Prices were outrageous for the low quality frozen bar food we ate. Just terrible!! For such a small spot, the food here is really solid. We visit the area a couple times a year and eat here at least once or twice during that time. The pizza and mussels are our favorites on the menu. That cream sauce on the mussels is addictive. Staff is quick and attentive, even during peak season. To difficult to make pizza or any menu item even with a full hotel next door, locals out for the night, and customers looking to enjoy their stay in Shaty Creek. Why even bother... Noticed there's never a proprietor around so employees seem to coast. Glorified waitstaff in charge with no interest in managing the food side of the business, just drinks. So we had heard about a new Italian place that opened up around Shanty, we finally made it there and unfortunately we won't be going again. First, the bread they brought out looked good, oddly shaped but had that golden browning look that fresh bread should have. But once I cut into it, I knew there was something wrong, not done. Almost the entire inside of the loaf was uncooked. I picked at the crust (I was starving) and in doing so I also came to the realization that the bread had no real flavor. I'm a bread baker and one time, I was in a hurry, I forgot to add salt to the bread. Salt is super important for bread. I asked for a new loaf, and the next one was more done, but still not done-done. That style of bread won't have a crumb like sandwich bread, but still I know undercooked bread. This load also, had almost no taste. As per the fineness, this loaf was Super hot, like almost burned my fingers hot. Enough about the bread it was free, but I bring it up for the management there. I imagine due to the shape, this bread is made there, also because of the lack of taste, factory bread will have more flavor and more uniform shape. My advice, make sure enough salt is put in the dough and properly dissolved for even distribution. Lastly on the bread, cook smaller loaves, serve two if you need to, but this will ensure they are done and also means they will reheat faster without the need to turn them into a hazard. Onto the food. We had the seared tuna appetizer. The grade of tuna they used was good. But the tuna seemed like it had been seared earlier and maybe lightly reheated, as it was not cold and was not warm and was fairly evenly heated vs having warm outside and chilled pink center. My wife's wedge salad was good. My prosciutto pizza was not bad, scale of 1-10, solid 7, maybe an 8. The basil was flavorful, the prosciutto was good, I loved the sauce. But the crust, sometimes my most favorite part of a good pizza, was bland and flavorless. Makes me wonder if the free bread and pizza dough share a common dough, not uncommon for a pizza joint. Lastly, the dough was not done for every piece, so cooking a few more minutes would have made it perfect. My wife had the mahi, asked for the cream sauce on the side. The first plate served had sauce on it. The replacement plate had the sauce on the side, great sauce btw. The mahi was fine, not terrible, nothing spectacular. The asparagus was done perfectly and the cherry tomatoes were good. Due to the 'wait' they knocked 10% off and the service was great, our waitress was helpful and attentive. But for the price, $45 meal after discount with no drinks or desert, the quality of the food is just so subpar. So yeah, last time we will go there. I was hopeful, as my meal at the River Bistro had been great, I know their different restaurants and possibly different owners, but general proximity I was hoping for a raised bar of sorts on the food. read more

Our group was staying at The Summit at Shanty Creek and wanted something convenient for our large group. The atmosphere was fine and the service was good. However, the food we ordered was very disappointing. We ordered two large pizzas for our group and a salad. The dough seemed very undercooked, the cheese was not even fully melted, and sauce was very bland. I didn't know I could be let down by pizza but we were. I am hoping that this was just a bad experience and it is not always this way. read more

WE HAVE NEVER BEEN SO HUMILIATED OR HAD WORSE SERVICE OR FOOD. Lady manager insinuated we were poor due to me ordering water. I was on pain meds for neck surgery. " Maybe you should order vegetarian lasagna. Its only $13." I WAS ONLY LOOKING AT MENU TO ORDER. Then when we didn't eat the pizza because it was terrible, she talked down to us now for the fourth time and said, Well maybe WE SHOULD KNOW WHAT WE LIKE BEFORE WE ORDER NEXT TIME!" We left without eating we were so disgusted by unprofessional staff. NEVER AGAIN! I will tell all our friends to stay away. It ruined our evening. I enjoy having Italian at Shanty Creek, comfortable and good food, reasonably priced.

This was the best food I've eaten in months. I ordered the Italian sub. I had my doubts when I saw the smaller size than I'd expected, with a little bit of charring on the bun. However, as soon as I bit into that sandwich I knew it was fantastic. It had a great balance of meat, fresh toppings, and sauce, and the bread didn't taste burnt at all and wasn't too hard, but gave way with a satisfying crunch. I had a little of the Tuscan pizza, which my brother ordered. It was fantastic as well. Perfectly baked, with an even spread of tasty toppings. Even without the side of chips, I'd well gotten my money's worth. On top of the great food, the service was excellent, being patient and understanding with my brother's rowdy children, and being very apologetic when we discovered that she'd missed a dish that we'd ordered. (It wasn't her fault at all; she literally couldn't hear it because of all the noise from the rest of the table.) If you get the same care and effort I did when my family went, you will not regret dining here. read more

We were there on a Thursday in August and the special; baby back ribs/ baked potato/ corn on the cob; was only $10. The wine may be a bit overpriced but a waiter with a sense of humor helps balance the cost and value!! My pizza had too much cheese but the sauce was thick and red and savory! My husband ordered fettuccini carbonara and was pleased with the rich and creamy sauce. Great restaurant! Very cute place, loved the ambience and decor. The owner was there walking around talking with guests very genuinely and friendly. We came for dinner and our food was amazing. I had the steak with mashed potatoes and asparagus. Steak was seasoned just right, mashed potatoes (a favorite of mine) were delicious and asparagus paired perfectly. My friend had a shrimp pasta dish and loved that too. I ordered a vodka soda with a little bit of lemonade which most people mess up but they got both of them perfect. I don't think I've ever said that before so cheers to our server Taylor who made them. We interacted with all three servers and the owner and everyone was extremely friendly and made you feel so welcome you didn't want to leave. Sorry Taylor haha. Great staff and a very creative chef. This young man has some excellent, unexpected food pairings and creations. They are making thrive own pizza dough as well. It is attached to a nice little coffee, ice cream shop, has a great little outside courtyard for relaxing, and shares space with Shanty Bar. If you want mediocre/bad Italian and and a rude manager who cares nothing about the quality or integrity of the restaurant, then this is the place for you! With reservations we were finally served our SALADS one hour and 40 minutes after we ordered! When we were finally served dinner the fettuccine tasted like pasta in water sauce, ravioli was cold with cold shredded cheese on top and one person at our table got her entree after our dinner plates had already been cleared from the table. Just to be clear, I have NEVER left a negative review for a restaurant, I have worked in them myself and know that sometimes things happen. However, this was hands down the single worst dining experience I have ever had. I won't even get started on the rude attitude of the manager. I have never been talked to in such an insulting way. So, in short, do yourself and the manager here a favor. Don't patronize this restaurant because he doesn't want your business! read more

Staying at Shanty Creek and ordered a pizza and salad from Sarducci's. It was terrible. Absolutely no flavor at all on the pizza. Crust was like cardboard, sauce had zero flavor and salad was a few bites at most. No utensils for a carry out at a hotel. Had to eat the salad with my hands. Then on top of all they showed me a charge of $20 and rang it up as $30. They refunded the difference immediately but had I not noticed the difference I would have paid a 1/3 more for a crappy dinner. As a note even the kids said pizza was not good you know it's bad if it can't hold up to a Little Caesar's $5 pizza. read more

Mike is the best he takes care of us every time. I always get the house Cabernet to start, it's awesome. The blackened chicken in the fettuccine alfredo is really good. I even had them add it to my Kale salad. Last time I was there I had the ribs. They make them in house and they are the best ribs in Bellaire. Can't say enough about this place. read more

Sorry but we had a horrible meal with another couple. The bread that was served was terrible, raw and just doughy. The Beef Tip and Bruschetta app's were lousy lacking any kind of flavor. My main course was Carbonara with a chicken breast added. AWFUL and the noodles were just in a big clump. It had no sauce and was so dry and lack luster. Wife had seafood pasta and pretty much the same, yuck. My friend ordered the Rueben and it was so thin and lacking meat it was almost sad. He immediately told the waiter to take it back and no thanks to anything else.I will not go back and sorry but one of the worst meals I have ever had.
