It started when I arrived between 3:00 & 3:30. The store was locked and looked closed, except a light that could tell was on in a back room. I wondered if the salesperson might appear through the window, not wanting to be in a store alone in a very quiet shopping center. So I stayed a little longer, trying to see product lines through the window. The salesperson did reappear, and opened the store. I would think there'd be a sign or something explaining she was on a quick break, given she was the sole employee. I've seen that in other situations in the past. But that wasn't my real issue. She was pleasant and answered my few questions, but she never walked away from her sales podium, except for the one time she brought me a cotton pad. But she never actively tried to sell the products! I didn't want her to be pushy or anything, but, she was not solicitous or engaged. I told her from the start that I'd been interested in coming to the store and was glad I finally made it. She didn't even help me by showing me what products went together or any differences, etc. I'd hoped for more attention and information than I get from a visit to a Target or grocery aisle. She tried to be nice, but I think she needs training!

They provide personalized service to help you find what you want or need. Everyone has been kind and patient. There's no upselling. They know their products well and take time to help you explore without hovering. It all feels comfortable and easy. Its a great experience for those new to make-up/skincare and those more practiced.

She quickly determined that I was within 5 minutes from her other appointment so she would be able to get to me in time. I proceeded to pay my deposit and I also received several texts and emails leading up to my appointment to confirm. On the day of, Kristin arrived early! She let me know when she was on her way, when she was parking (I was at a hotel) and when she was headed up to my room. I opened the door to a smiling face and a warm personality. I first noticed that Katie was not the most attentive and just plain late and rude during a couple phone conversations, but I figured maybe she was not a phone person. Everyone deserves a second chance. I thought she would be courteous and professional in person as her reviews seemed to indicate. I was wrong. Her "new studio" at the time of my trial session for makeup and hair was her personal apartment. She did not explain this ahead of time which threw me off. The place was very clean and chic, super cute decor but it was very weird to use her restroom with her delicate clothing hanging in there. Katie cut me off when I attempted to discuss the overall look I was going for and tried to show her inspiration photos. She was busy being angry at her late hair person because she had some event to attend after my appointment. The hair person was sweet once she arrived but was discussing with Katie as she was doing my hair that it was not a full time job for her. Katie was trying to convince her to work on another project and speaking condescendingly about a recent project. Is not the point of a trial to have time to discuss what you want as a client? I could barely say anything and Katie kept cutting me off. The look ended up being very bizarre, not what I tried to request and too much even on camera at several angles. My hair updo came apart immediately after a handful of hours. Katie also kept checking her cell phone and texting during my trial as she was applying my makeup (not sanitary, eww). I was polite as I left but had a terrible feeling about how she would behave if I went ahead with her for my special event and how she would make people feel. I informed her later in writing and with ample notice that we would not move forward with her. She insisted we move forward, sending long, argumentative e-mails that did not make sense. I can only imagine she was going through a lot to treat me that way and have such strange behavior. I wish Katie a swift and lasting resolution to whatever causes those challenges. I also wish her future success but cannot recommend her based on my experience. I hope all of this information is helpful to others trying to make informed decisions about how to spend their resources.
