Not a whole lot of great choices when you are at an airport. After I walked in circles for the 8th time, I decided to give this place a try. The place is located in terminal 2 of Heathrow International Airport. The music is very groovy and not too loud. I was craving some Tikka Masala, and they happened to serve this dish. After a minute browsing, the hostess sat me down to a seat that I wanted. I was able to charge my phone. My chicken Tikka Masala was served within a timely manner. The first taste was... not bad; definitely different than the Tikka masala in the US, with hints of different herbs used. It wasn't the best nor the worst, I found the flavors were interesting. The portion wasn't huge for the price, but just about right. Overall, it's a 3.9 out of 5.
Located in T2, this review is for breakfast. Expectations aren't too high for airport eateries, but The Perfectionists' Café does a decent job of ticking the boxes ahead of a long travel day. Food: I typically order the Full English, but on this trip I went with the scrambled eggs on toast with the addition of a fried egg (a girl can have whatever she wants). The scrambled eggs are a creamy scramble and delicious if you like it that way. If you want a murdered scramble, don't do it. Fried egg was equally delicious as you'll see from the yolk these are farm fresh eggs, and it makes a difference. Service: Efficient and friendly. Not overly attentive due to the volume of travelers in and out, but you'll typically not have an issue getting someone's attention when you need something. Cost: It's an airport folks, but still very reasonable for LHR, and so much better than most US airport eateries in cost and value for money. Space: Try to get a seat overlooking the airport, but otherwise it's open to the terminal as a whole.
A bit on the pricey side but what do you expect for airport dining. We were at Heathrow waiting for our international flight (aka 3 hours to wait) so we wanted a sit-down meal. Fortunately it was a short wait for a table for 5. We shared a long table with another family. It was a bit cramped with our bags but the space was open. There's an open kitchen with wood fire oven and bar-style seating. We ordered fish & chips, chilli con carne, pesto pasta and pizza to share for two. The pizza was lovely and the oven gave it the right amount of char. The fish was lightly battered with a good amount of crunch. The chilli con carne was small in portion and the rice overwhelmed the dish. Never seen puffy tortilla chips before. Service was good and quick
An outstanding oasis in Heathrow. Had a great fish n chips where the batter is applied to the fish through a syphon. A Heston trick. The result was super crispy tasty fish. Highly recommend a pit stop here.
Stopped here while I was waiting for my flight. So glad I did. Service was great & seating was comfy.
Great little spot to stop in at Heathrow. Situated on the top floor and a in a bit of a corner, it offers a nice view for people-watching and enjoying a latte and meal. Many different offerings, from coffee to tea, and traditional English breakfast to fish and chips. I decided on a a coffee to start, and eventually a beer with fish and chips. I definitely recommend the mushy peas, made with a bit of mint, these are a very tasty side dish. Stop in if you have a bit of a wait for a flight, great way to enjoy a good bite and pass the time until your next adventure.
A tad pricey, but it's an airport and it's a valid option if you don't want to eat a sandwich out of a bag near your gate. Service was quick and friendly. Food was fine, for being in an airport terminal. Full English: Didn't have time for a proper breakfast my entire work trip, so glad to grab one at the airport. Love the variety of items on the plate. For starters, lots of meat with bacon and sausage. The sausage was plump and snappy. The bacon wasn't as crispy as we have back in the States, but still tasty. The default egg style was fried with a slightly running yolk. Really like the yolk, but the white part could have been spread thinner to be cooked more. The roasted tomato and roast portabello mushroom are great complements to all those proteins. Adds way more personality then the the typical side of eggs we get back home. The toast was perfectly toasted. And the beans were fun, felt very British to have them at breakfast.
Service was friendly, helpful, and prompt. The menu had loads of options, and all of our food was pretty good. My tuna Niçoise salad was exactly what I wanted. My boyfriends Margherita pizza was a bit soggy, however. Prices were far too high. If these prices were in US dollars they might be alright, but pounds? Come on now. This restaurant would be 3 stars in the normal world, but the airport world is different.
Ate here on a layover after crossing the Atlantic on the way to Germany. I was drawn in by the funky decor and open and airy seating. I glanced at the menu and noticed they had vegetarian options, so we decided to dine. We were seated by the rail which overlooks the main floor of the Terminal. The perfect people-watching spot! For my meal, I ordered the beet burger. I told our server that I am vegan, and she went off to double check the ingredients. Unfortunately, the bun has dairy in it, so I asked if they could do it 'protein-style.' Well, that is apparently only an American thing because our poor server was so confused when I described to her that people sometimes eat their burger wrapped in lettuce instead of in between two buns. She still agreed to the request and I became anxious about how my meal would turn out. Well, long story short, I should've just asked for it on a bed of salad or greens to make it easier. But the kitchen did a cute attempt of a protein-style burger. They trimmed large iceberg lettuce leaves into a square and plopped the patty perfectly in the middle. It wasn't enough to pick up with two hands, so a fork & knife was the way to go. The patty looked delicious and well-cooked, but it still underwhelmed me. I think a sauce or some other cooked vegetable (like onions) would make the beet pop more. I enjoyed the scenery and service, but in the end, it is still airport food. Onwards to Germany I go for the real meal!
The Service: The hostess was polite and made me feel welcomed even though I was a solo traveler. My server however was new, i still don't know his name. He didn't introduce himself or even check on me after someone else brought my food out and cleared my table. The food: I ordered the full English breakfast €11.50 and a small orange juice €3.50 plus a 12.5% service fee. The meal came with 2 eggs, bacon, sausage, a whole mushroom, grilled tomatoes, side of baked beans and sourdough bread/ butter. It was yummy and just what I needed before my flight. However the service is something else. Several times I saw - who I'm guessing was a supervisor bring food out for my server because he forgot about it. The gentleman next to me had to flag down a different server to place his order. This person should go back in training, he really shouldn't be on the floor alone yet. Especially for a place that says they provide " fantastic food fast"
This is probably some of the best food I have had at Heathrow. We didn't realize the Perfectionists' café was set up by Heston Blumenthal before we sat down (we only guessed when we saw his photo.) The menu is full of simple, but really well made dishes along with tasty wine. The service is speedy, but friendly, just what you need within the madness of such a large airport. It wasn't particularly cheap, but it's nice to have some good grub before you get onto a long-haul flight, so I am really glad we stopped here. I am pretty sure we'll come back if/when we fly through this terminal again.
I didn't know the name was supposed to be ironic. Had 5 hours to spare at Heathrow before my flight. It was 7 or so in the morning, so I thought I should get some breakfast or brunch (read: drinks). After perusing Yelp, I thought I'd stop by here, seeming how a bunch of reviews were raving about this establishment being founded by a famous chef. I was situated at the bar area since I was traveling with my lonesome self. Service started out great, as in I was checked up on way too many times while I was trying to decide what to get. Not surprisingly, I wanted to construct a tombstone at the bar where my service died shortly after I handed back my menu. The bloody mary arrived first. That was good 'cause I needed a drink after the fiasco of a trip I had. Anyway, it was damn intense. The various spices they chucked into this concoction delivered quite a punch. And they even had a small pipette of this, slightly unappetizing, smoky liquid that I can only presume to be their so called "hellfire" as it was listed on the menu. I pushed all of that devil's child out of the pipette and into the bloody mess below. Not sure if I enjoyed their bloody mary or not in the end, but it sure was an interesting drink. Boiled eggs and soldiers! How could I not get this? To be honest, the full English breakfast looked like something I could scrap up in a few minutes in my old college dorm. Anyway, blimey was it an interesting experience. Definitely not for the impatient, or ravenous. You get two soft (medium) boiled eggs with the shells still on and a bunch of buttered toasted sticks of bread. I have never heard of this british dish before, but I am glad I tried it. After peeling away the tops of the eggs, I then did what any other bloke would do, attempt to dip the bread into the eggs. I think it would have worked better if the eggs were done softer. In fact, it didn't work at all since none of the eggs would stick on my bread and I had to forcibly create the experience. Slightly disappointed in that, but at least it was surprisingly more filling than expected. Since I still had plenty of time left to kill, I thought I'd check out their desserts. It seemed like they wanted to tout their nitro ice cream parlor, so I thought to hell with it, I'll through in another 5.50. Biggest disappointment ever. It came with the tiniest 2 scoops of ice cream I've ever seen. Spoonfuls really, in a thin wafer container. I've had nitrogen frozen ice cream before, and this definitely didn't come close in flavor, texture, or any other ice cream describing category. It was the one time that I wish I hadn't ordered something. For a place that carries such a great name and a great chef, the Perfectionists' Cafe overwhelmingly under-performed.
A quick stop to refuel at the airport between flights, and wow. Great drinks, great foods, but above all, the Mushroom Penne Pasta! The buttery penne is coated well in an amazing amalgam of wild mushrooms and "streaky bacon". If it wasn't such a flight to get back here, I would come back for this dish alone!
I have a strong memory of the fish and chips at London-Heathrow being delicious but that memory doesn't seem accurate. I had a cancelled flight and ended up connecting through here, the funny thing is I thought at least I could find that good fish and chips place. I only remembered it was on the 2nd floor but was able to find it easily, the last time we came was in 2018. Fish and Chips: It's even marked on the menu as being special, I used to tell my friends that this place was better than anywhere in the US but sadly that isn't true anymore. The fish was huge but the batter was very thick this time though it did have a nice crispy crunch. Chips were not good, very overdone and not unstarched and double fried like the local Chippers do. The smashed peas were good and have the dish some color and I lived the lemon in cheesecloth so the seeds wouldn't fall out. Gin and Tonic: It honestly tastes better in London, proper gin and tonic in the correct glass. read more
I find it rather odd for this cafe to have the name 'Perfectionist' when it really isn't all that perfect. Mind you, that no doubt has a lot to be with it being an airport cafe and honestly I really aren't all that impressed with airport cafes. It does get packed, but seriously, this is Heathrow so of course it is. read more
Kind of shocked this place has 3.5 stars, but then again it's an airport so maybe people had low expectations? We stopped in for breakfast during a long layover. While we were seated quickly it took a good ten/fifteen minutes before anyone came to our table. Eventually we ordered, I went with the smashed avocado which came with poached eggs. The waiter checked in about allergies and making sure I was okay with how the eggs would be cooked which was nice. The food was underwhelming, basically an entire avocado on sourdough bread- no seasoning. I took about half of the avocado off and cracked salt and pepper over it. For $15 it didn't seem worth it and I wish I had gotten something else. My biggest annoyance was waiting another 30 minutes after we finished our food to get our waiter. No refills on drinks, no asking if we needed anything- nothing. I know it's not the US where waiters bug you every minute but my gosh. Luckily we had enough time and didn't need to rush to our gate but I'll try one of the many other restaurants in terminal two next time read more

A surprisingly good meal right in Terminal 2! On our way home, we stopped here for a quick bite. We decided to share two meals...a wood-fired pizza and an order of fish-n-chips (one last time!). The pancetta pizza had a thin crust and adding chili oil to the top (over the arugula) gave it a great kick. The crust was cooked just right! The fish had a super-thin and crispy batter and the chips were spot on. Mushy peas were very thick (not at all soupy) and had a slight mint taste to them which I found refreshing. Given the size of their portions, these two dishes were more than enough food to satisfy to hearty appetites. Will definitely eat here again during another trip through LHR. read more

Wonderful full English breakfast before my flight back to America. The food was great and the service was attentive. I sat at the bar and watched the barista prepare drinks and the chefs cook pizzas. I arrived way early so it was an entertaining meal to pass the time. Highly recommend and will become my regular breakfast spot at LHR. read more
Good looking eatery. Decor is a whacky, cool, fun, Albert Einstein, 60s science like yet very chic and modern. Caught my attention! When looking at the menu... looks absolutely promising. Photo below looks enticing and yummy... sorry mates there's nothing to write home about. Food was bland, had no taste and no flavour. Am a bit conflicted...the 3 of us are... Perfectionists'? How ironic! Expensive, lethargic & disengaged attendants... 5 or more times you asked for a glass of water and you're a WANKER! I definitely give this place 4 stars on the decor... everything else an utter disappointment! Save your hard earned cash and go elsewhere. This place is quite charming in Heathrow. It's on the second floor (oh wait I'm in London, is this technically the first floor? I'm confused). As in, you can see the bottom floor from where you are. The food is standard British fare. I wasn't feeling too hungry so I opted for the bacon sandwich. I ordered a side of scrambled eggs on the side. The sandwich felt a bit flat. It was literally bacon and two pieces of bread that weren't toasted. The bacon was okay though. Maybe could have been a bit crispier. The fries (chips) were okay as well. The food is just a bit too plain to justify its cost but hey you're at an airport. read more

Came here before an early flight, because they had a good looking menu for breakfast. I was greeted and seated immediately, our server was very nice and our order was out in no time. Fast service, cute spot and the food was good. read more

Items Selected: Black Pudding Scotch Eggs - Quail Eggs from Cornwall, Black Pudding from Stornoway, served with Piccalilli Extraordinary Fish & Chips - Day Boat Cornish Fish. 3x Cooked Chips, Mushy Peas and Tartar Sauce Malt Vinegar and atomizer of Vinegar with Pickled Onion Juice Pizza Guiseppe - Tomato and Buffalo Mozzarella, Buffalo Ricotta, 'Nduja Sausage, Confit Tomatoes, Parmesan Marmalade on Toast Milkshake Carrot Cake Located in The Queen's Terminal of LHR, recent events in London making the process of getting there ever more laborious as all but those flying in or out of Terminal 2 will require the typical security check plus a purple suited escort both in and out of the concourse, it was with a bit of persistence that lunch was enjoyed at Heston Blumenthal's The Perfectionists' Café, the man behind The Fat Duck's latest outpost focused on serving "fantastic Food fast." Notorious for a history in Molecular Cuisine, his scientific approach to flavor pairings must read material by way of the Fat Duck Cookbook and more recently on display in reconstructed versions of classic British recipes at Dinner, it was during a 7-day stay in Britain that both of those restaurants as well as Michelin starred The Hinds Head and The Crown at Bray all lived up to their billing, recent reviews raising hopes that the second floor spot at Heathrow could do the same. Certainly not the storied house containing Heston's flagship, nor the multi-million dollar space inside The Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, The Perfectionists' Café instead occupies a ledge overlooking the airstrip and upscale shopping concourses, a wood-fired oven turning out Pizzas stretched by hand just to the side of a Liquid Nitrogen Ice Cream Parlor as legs of Acorn-fed Spanish Ham also hang behind the counter as a temptation. Open for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner, nearly everything made on-site and the rest brought in from one of Blumenthal's other kitchens, a first look at TPC's menu reads like the typical 'everything to everyone' airport restaurant, though those looking closer will find more than what they bargained for including Beer Batter aerated by a siphon and an ever changing list of ingredient-inspired Cocktails the likes of which are rarely seen outside of fine dining venues. Best suited for early arrivers and those on a layover, the definition of 'fast' here approximately fifteen minutes between order and delivery with most of the items not particularly amenable to being consumed in the tightly packed seats of coach, it was after a warning from the waiter that three plates would be "too much" food that the items were nonetheless presented, first bites of the 'great marriage from extreme ends of the British Isles' showing great attention to detail as the outside was golden crisp over smooth black Sausage while the yolk was lightly cooked and creamy. Certainly not a cheap meal, though not particularly overpriced when accounting for quality and a captive audience, it was with mustardy Piccalilli set aside that attention shifted to the "Extraordinary Fish & Chips" featuring an ample filet of Line-caught Cod delicately coated in Batter and served alongside Blumenthal's world-class fried Potatoes, each of them every bit as good as those tasted at The Crown in 2014 and here gussied up with a fragrant garnish applied via spray bottle. Typically not fond of Mushy Peas, though the Mint here was far more subtle than many, it was admittedly tough to choose between Pizza, Chicken Tikka Masala or the Hoisin Duck Burger for the meal's final savory, the decision eventually coming down to the fact that the Guiseppe Pie features housemade 'Nduja Sausage and DOP Mozzarella di Bufala that perform particularly well atop a lightly charred crust covered in confit Tomatoes. Sipping a creamy Milkshake throughout the meal, several flavors available but bitter Orange Marmalade mixed with Milk steeped with brown Bread and Vanilla Nitro-Ice Cream certainly the most striking, it was with a texture almost like Cool-Whip that the meal finished up, but not before a £4.25 wedge of Carrot Cake that seemed as though it was made of nothing more than Fruits, Vegetables and Nuts with the crushed Pineapple playing quite well off the spices and Pecans soaked in a sugary Liquor. read more
Usually airport food is very mediocre and overpriced. This restaurant is the exception. It's still overpriced but the food was quite good. My smoked salmon omelette was prepared perfectly and came to the table very hot. The eggs were fluffy and the taste was excellent. I would definitely eat here again. I don't mind paying a high price if the food is good. read more

Please try the fish and chips! The battered one, not the breaded. I loved the mushy peas, too. Of course it's Heston's take on fish & chips etc, so it's lovely & light. There are COCKTAILS IN A CLOUD which look really interesting but we were too full to try. If you are trying to figure out which place to eat at terminal 2, I think this is a good choice. read more

No real reason for 4 instead of five except the ice cream was just normal and nothing extraordinary. Margarita Pizza was amazing. Service was prompt and friendly read more
Its impossible to have such good food and service at an airport but here its possible. Had the eggs benedict and it was wonderful. Ham wasn't salty and egg was perfectly poached. Didnt feel greasy gross afterwards either. Best deal - the kids ate for free so our meal for 4 was 14£! read more
The worst thing about this restaurant is its pretentious name. Whilst evaluating how to kill an hour at an airport, the Perfectionist moniker alone is nearly enough to drive one away. Alas, they live up to their name, and their signature fish and chips dish is rather fantastic! With mushy peas that embody the crunch and mouth warmness that is often promised, but rarely delivered, it was a great contrast to the fish and chips. The fish itself was nearly perfection! Perfectly cooked, well seasoned, without the soggy or drippy characteristics that can often take a fish and chips dish to Blah. A nice selection of draft beer, this is one of the better airport deals you'll find. The food is solid, the environment is clean, the waitstaff is knowledgable, this is about as good as it gets in terms of airport offerings. Would surely go back the next time I fly from this Terminal. read more
What kind of place would call itself the Perfectionist Cafe? I mean, how pretentious is that? Or so I thought when I first saw this place out of the corner of my right eye as I entered the new Heathrow terminal after clearing baggage checks. A cursory inspection of the menu outside the cafe sort of confirmed my suspicion, ordinary food, but at airport prices. C'mon, fish and chips for 14 quid?! But a closer inspection peaked my interest. Batter siphoned in a something to aerate it so that it will be light and fluffy, some fancy mint to lift the mushy peas, Essence of onion extracted into some sort of spray to enhance the experience of actually being in a 'Chippie'? What's going on here? We decide to give it a try. And then a mural on the wall revealed more. A mural of the Chef himself. Ah, finally it's beginning to make sense. Yes, I've seen him on TV, and he does take perfection to extremes. Anyway I do try the fish and chips. And my Wife and kids the pizza. Let's just say I do fancy myself as a connoisseur of fish and chip, even Travelling up to North Finchley for my 2 Brothers fix. It was good. But had I known I was going to encounter perfection at the airport, I would given that a miss. How perfect? Perfect. And the pizza? So perfect my Wife and kids spared me only a tiny bite, not even a slice! So here's my tip. If you're Travelling to London, and as any good self-respecting tourist, will need to have a fish and chip fix, just get it at the airport on your way out. You won't regret it. read more

Our flight out of Heathrow was at 8:50 AM, so we took the train to Terminal 2 and then went on the hunt for brekkie. We ended up at The Perfectionists' Cafe, a really interesting little restaurant. My husband had Boiled Eggs & Soldiers, a meal he recognized from Terry Pratchett books. This was two soft boiled eggs with buttered strips of toast. They had Cocktails in a Cloud, an elaborate cocktail with a glass full of scented vapour. I had the Summer Shrub with a Mandarin & Thyme Non-Alcoholic Cloud. read more

I ordered the steak sandwich. The bread was soaked in the romesco and whatever makes up the chili sauce (tasted sweet with some Tabasco?). Terrible combination of sauce on the bread. The onion ring, was vile. How do you mess up a tempura onion? By serving yesterday's cold hard onion ring. On a brighter note, fries were good. read more
Pretty amazing food for an airport. I really enjoyed my meal, I went for the fish & chips and then had ice cream for dessert. I chose the extraordinary fish & chips, which means the fish is soaked in butter before getting battered. It wasn't your typical batter, it was nearer to breaded fish, but it was delicious and a huge portion. The chips were the let down, they were over cooked in my opinion and too crispy for my taste. The mushy peas with mint was nice. I thought the vinegar that you get was interesting, it came in a spray and was supposed to bring the flavor out more. I put it on sparingly incase I didn't like it, but didn't notice much of a difference. I thought the idea was very Heston though. I couldn't quite finish the fish and chips as it was very filing, so I left some so that I could get ice cream from the nitro ice cream parlor. I went for raspberry ripple and hazelnut ice cream with the toppings; popping candy and Oreo. The ice cream came in a waffle boat and was nice, but nothing too amazing, I was more impressed with the popping candy!! It's wasn't too badly priced, so I got over it. Overall it was an enjoyable experience. Reasonably priced and prompt good service in pleasant surroundings. I did not feel like I was in an airport at all, I felt like I had gone out for dinner. I would definitely eat there again if I find myself in T2! read more
