Sometimes looks are not everything - I was fooled by the pretty decor, the rows of cookbooks, and the #1 restaurant sign on their menu in the front. I'm not sure who decided to give these awards out, but I don't think they are the best restaurant in Heathrow, sorry. I decided I'd have one more nice meal before sitting on a plane for 11 hours, but after I sat down and had to wait an absurdly long time for a salad, I wish I had gone to the lounge instead. If you have more than an hour to kill before your flight and can expense your meal, then maybe this is an okay place. I had about 45 min to kill and could expense my meal but wish I had chosen a grab-and-go salad instead because I felt like I was sitting there for 25 min after I ordered, waiting for them to make a salad. I ordered the chopped chicken & avocado salad (£13.85), which is not cheap. I was told it was one of the larger salads on the menu -- if that's the case, you may be able to count the number of lettuce pieces you get on the other salads. I didn't find the salad to be particularly large, and wasn't sure there were more than 8 chunks of chicken in the salad. I expected for a salad this expensive and at such a fancy restaurant, I would get a fillet of grilled chicken on top of the salad. This was not the case. My salad had 2-3 pieces of asparagus, some peas, chopped lettuce, 8 chunks of chicken, some parmesan cheese, yellow beets and too much mustard dressing which threw the salad off balance. For almost £14 ($18), this was not worth the price tag. If you want a salad, go elsewhere! My whole meal took about 45 min from the time that I sat down to when I finished paying too, so it was not quick. Unfortunately, I would not come back here. read more

I had the calamari to start, and then the shepards pie for main course. The calamari was Ok, but a bit lacking in flavour. More spices would be nice. The main course however was great. Very tasty and nice. Also cheap. Recommended. -------- second visit, on another occasion, I tried the English breakfast: Really good mix of what you'd expect from an English breakfast. The only improvement I could suggest is to include two types of sausages. It comes with a pork sausage, but a chicken sausage as well would be welcomed. read more

Loved my meal here. Ordered the pan seared cod fillet with fennel. The fennel was perfectly prepared and accentuated the mind flavors of the cod. Also ordered a side of steamed broccoli, which may not sound impressive but which was lovingly adorned with sliced almonds and just the right amount of red pepper flake. Washed it all down with an amazing white burgundy (Montrachet) that I'll never forget. I've been here a few times and the service is never very fast. Don't go if you're in a hurry, but the food is outstanding. This place provides a strong excuse for getting to be airport early! read more

With a long layover, we decided to eat at this restaurant, which claimed to be the best airport restaurant per the sign at their front door. The food was fairly priced for London. The food itself was a little bit weird. I felt like the ingredients did not match in flavor and/or were not used effectively. For example, if you want to include watercress raw then you shouldn't have thick stems. The taste and texture was odd. Also, the meat and seafood were bland but the sauces that came with them were not good. We ordered the two course meal which is guaranteed to be ready in 25 minutes. Kind of a mixed review here. The service was excellent, the people were very polite. The food was not worth the money - however I had a lot of time to kill and I'm on expense so that's alright. As soon as the waiter saw me he asked if I was in a rush for a flight. I was not, but I think that's an excellent question to start with. The waiter warned me that W/H/F they have a line out the door due to all the departures, but right now on Sunday there are only 3 people here and it's a lovely place to just sit. Nice relaxing music and an amazing view. The food is just..kinda...odd. Nothing I ordered tasted quite as I expected. Nothing was actually "bad" except for some very undercooked French fries. The burger was actually quite tasty except for being very much overdone (I'll take that over the opposite, at least at an airport). read more

Underwhelming at best. Not worth the walk to one end of Heathrow Queen's terminal. Someone listened to Gordon Ramsey when he said you have to clean and empty the salt and pepper shakers every night. Only thing is, someone forgot to refill them...any of them. Waitstaff is disjointed. The host ends up bringing dishes from the bar up front because he sees them first. The actual waiter came quite frequently, but didn't serve any of my food: only swooping in to remove plates. The white fish was the very epitome of bland, needlessly drenched in an unrecognizable white sauce. The arugula salad was non sequitur, dressed with black olives and underdone potatoes. The tomato soup came after the main course, overdressed and underperformed (bland). Two stars instead of one because the waiter was trying, really he was. They have a sign claiming to be the "best airport restaurant in the world", but I'm pretty sure they're not even the best at Heathrow. Got seated and 10 minutes before I saw a server. Came here for food before my flight. The food was just ok and nothing to boast about. My fish was slightly overcooked and the price was slightly on the pricey side for its portion and quality. I suppose we are in an airport. However, when it was time to pay, there was a misunderstanding between the waiters and they never brought my receipt. I was in a hurry to catch a flight. So I went to the counter to pay instead of waiting for the receipt. The manager asked another waiter to deal with it and the waiter said OK but no one came back to me and I was waiting at the counter like a stupid man. Finally, I just said to the manager 'Do you want me to pay for my food or else I am just going to go.' The manager just gave me a frustrated look and proceeded to get my card to process. Didn't even apologise. Disappointing service especially when you are in a hurry to catch a flight. read more

This restaurant is a solid 4 but isn't anywhere close to the best restaurant. The decor is suppose to be 60s-ish but just seems outdated. Perhaps my experience was unusual but I would be very careful here if you are in a hurry. It is a lovely place with great ambience and great views and if you have over an hour to kill this is a lovely place to spend it. If you don't have that kind of time I would not recommend it. I waited 10 minutes to be seated even though there were only a few people in the place. Another 10 to have my order taken. and another 30 mins to produce a plate of scrambled eggs and salmon. The food was nice but not exceptional and it was reasonably priced. If you have lots of time, this is a very pleasant place to kill it. If you don't then I'd go somewhere else. read more

Breakfast sandwich was good. We also got pancakes that were pathetic. They were store bought frozen ones. Very sad. Orange juice was ridiculously sour. There are 3 or 4 other restaurants in the area of the terminal with pretty much the same thing. Maybe you will be better off hitting one of those. read more

This was my first visit and my review is based on a single main course. I had plenty of time to kill and was hungry. I can't remember how long I was in the restaurant, but I would allow 45 minutes if you plan to eat here. This is not a "grab a bite and catch your flight" type of place. With that said, I had probably the best lamb dish I have ever eaten. I believe it was labeled, "Slow roasted lamb in red wine sauce". There was much more to the dish than its label, potatoes, feta, pea purée, etc. A fascinating mixture of flavors! The portion was gentleman's sized, so if you are starving, you may want to add some additional courses. Service was very good. It was easy to forget that I was at an airport. On balance, one of the worst airport dining experiences I've had. It has a great location in Heathrow, but it's simply not worth dealing with the incompetent service. For starters, the waiter forgot to put in my breakfast order. After 30 minutes, he came by and (rather unapologetically) said that he had forgot to put my food order in. I was slightly miffed, but as this was Armistice day and they had just conducted a 2 min moment of silence, I didn't make a fuss. After he then came back and said that his colleague had also forgotten to put in my drink order, I felt compelled to speak to the manager. The manager came by and I explained the situation. Again, forgetting an order isn't that big of a deal, I wasn't that upset - until the manager, rather than apologize, had the audacity to insinuate that I was lying about how long I had waited. To be fair, he probably objectively right: it probably was closer to 25 min, after I went back and recalculated the timing of everything. But the principle was the problem. I asked for the meal to be comped, and he finally grudgingly offered to take off the cost of the juice, but refused to comp the meal. As I was leaving, he saw me standing outside the restaurant writing this review. He nervously tried to explain himself and his "business rationale" - too late for that! At the entry to this restaurant at Heathrow Term. 2 it proudly proclaims its #1 rating among airport restaurants globally. A heady claim indeed. With elevated expectations, I gave it a try. It had to be the worst airport meal I've had in years. I ordered their "most popular" menu item, a lemongrass chicken with coconut rice. The dish came with rice so soggy you could barely tell one grain from another...just a soggy white blob. The chicken had little flavor, least of all lemongrass. It was dry and overcooked. The food was good, the service ok. However the highway robbery in eur to bpd exchange rate was crazy. Bpd is sitting at 1.16 eur but my 24 bpd meal cost me 40 eur because they do not update their systems, nor do they allow customers the option of walking 20ft away to withdraw money from the cash deposit machines. Waiting for my delayed flight to lisbon i got peckish. I found this eaterie sort of staffed away in the furthest corner of terminal 2 . I was greeted politly and seated at a table . My first thought was that the sofa i was placed on was more suitable for a lounge arangement and not suitable for sitting at a table. The whole ambience of this restaurant reminded me more of a canteen in an office building or a fast food outlet. Designed to be practical Or is it meant to be modern. I cant tell. The lovley bow tied around the napkin was a nice touch , but it didnt make up for the otherwise lack of charm of this venue. However, not all is bad. I ordered a traditional english breakfast, which was served not long after ordering. The eggs were cooked just the way i like it, the bacon was perfection, the sausage was gloriously delicious and the tomato hot. The chef who cooked this knows how to cook a delicious breakfast, no doubt. A large slice of toasted quality bread added to the delight. I asked for a second slice which was served quickly. My only gripe would be the measly amount of beans on the plate. , (come on chef be more generous a few more beans are not going to break your budget) A large coffee, freshly brewed, completed my breakfast. The service was swift and friendly , the bill , perhaps a bit on the high side, but this breakfast was well cooked and i did not mind too much. i am giving this 4 stars for the quality of the food and professional service, no stars for the decor.
