While my wife and I were looking for a hard to find food for two dogs that we were adopting, we found The Pet Beastro. Since we probably looked a little lost, one of the wonderful women working gave us a hand. She walked around with my wife and I, helping us find the other items we needed. We signed up for the club because we knew we would be coming back. Because of an error on our part, we bought the wrong size food. I called the next day and spoke with another amazing employee. Located in a dying stripmall off of busy John R. This is the same stripmall as the small craft brewery. Inside is a selection of high end dog and cat food, treats, and toys. The staff was helpful and polite. They have a buyer reward program, which includes 20% off your second purchase. For some reason they do not provide bags with purchase. I have a large, very enthusiastic fluffy, squeaky toy chewer. He has been known to destroy $20 toys inside of an hour. So then he has to wait for a week to get another toy, because I simply cannot afford hundreds of dollars of toys for this guy. After chatting with one of the people over at TPB, they told me about the Fluff & Tuff brand. I bought 5 several months ago. So far, he's only been able to "desqueak" one of the toys, but he STILL loves playing with it. The other two he likes playing keep away with. I have two in reserve for the future. I don't live anywhere near this store; however, I buy online and have it shipped for free (I always order more than $50 to get free shipping). They have competitive prices, excellent customer service and most important, carry a great selection of "superior brands" like my favorite, Orijen, which is the best dry dog food in the world and worth every penny. Rather than giving my business to a large corporation, I prefer giving my business to small family owned stores who provide great service like The Pet Beastro. This is a great little store and apparently many people feel the same way as I do based on the incredible reviews on Yelp. We typically order food and supplies for our two cats online, but were running low. We stopped by The Pet Beastro primarily because of the convenient location. I was also happy to support a locally owned shop. Finally, I was impressed with the quality brands that The Pet Beastro carries. This store did not disappoint! We found an excellent selection of the best quality cat foods. (Plenty of dog food and supplies as well!). The Pet Beastro also offers a loyalty program that makes these higher end products more affordable--and will keep us coming back. Pretty cool store. I simply popped in to look around after eating next door. No real reason other than curiosity. The lady, assuming she is the owner, immediately starts chatting me up like we were in a speed dating session. Just goofing around. She is really friendly and explains the what and why of the store. Basically a health food store for pets. I ask her a few questions about my girlfriend's dog and she fires off detailed answers about each topic and before the thought of how much this is going to cost me enters my head, she says "let me get you some samples". I'm not expecting to get a ton of samples but that is what happened. She then tells me that on Tuesdays they have a pet chiropractor on-site. She explains why I'd want this service and gives me the cost I ask how long she has been in this location. Answer "12 years". I've been eating next door for a very long time and feel silly that I never paid attention or even stopped in to check it out. really cool store with reasonable prices. A+ read more

I can't believe I live so close to this place and didn't go sooner! I just love it! I love supporting small local businesses, so when they had the Christmas open house, I decided to check it out! Like for many, my dogs are my children so I want what's best for them. Well Holy Cats! So many great products that are natural and not filled with a bunch of crap. They have a huge raw food section, so if you feel your pets that, head to the freezers. You're you're in to traditional dog food, they have isles of kibble and canned foods! Looking for a special dog treat? They have rawhide bones that have no rawhide! My dogs love them. EVERYTHING in these bones is digestible!! They also have a great line of hygiene products to choose from. They also have pet accessories and toys. So you can pretty much find what you need here, that you can at a larger chain. Ok, so prices. Well, they are worth the quality. Keep in mind that you get what you pay for so you'll pay a little more here for food and other products that are good quality. I feel like if you give your pet better quality foods, they are healthier, which means less health issues so fewer vet bills. If you look at it that way, the costs all even out! read more

The Pet Beastro definitely gets stars just for offering such a wide variety of "alternative" pet food. That said, it is a very small space, so while there is a variety of brands, there is not a huge selection of each brand. (THAT SAID, there were about four brands there that we wanted to ciompare, so we were happy!) We knew basically what we were looking for when we got there, so didn't need to ask for much help, but when we did ask a question, we got a nice, thoughtful answer--plus some free samples. The only reason I don't give them five stars is because prices were VERY hard to find. I saw that some bags of food did have small price tags on them, but they were hard to see--and I definitely don't remember seeing them on all bags...the metal shelving would have been the perfect place to put price tags (a la Sams Club). read more

I actually came here for my first time thanks to a friend! Upon walking in I was greeted to two friendly employees offered help too! Browsed in here for quite a while before making a selection, like legit you think it they have it. Also add to that pretty much everything (food&treats) I picked up was one of the following if not all or more organic/grain free/ fresh. Like they have the purest foods, snacks, and more here. Ingredients you actually know what they are and feel good about giving our fur babies. Definitely helps because we recently got a puppy last year and have struggled to find her treats that don't upset her stomach here I can read the ingredients and find something beneficial for her. They carry dehydrated food here too which I have never seen before super interesting! An employee checked in to make sure we were still doing ok/ had any questions. We didn't need any help but I did hear her assist someone, and holy crap the knowledge on this girl. It's nice to know such a well rounded place exists! My favorite pet store! Jill is the absolute best. She's so knowledgeable. Her staff are very friendly and helpful. We did a nutrition consultation with Jill and she got us started on a raw diet. My dogs didn't end up liking it, but she was so helpful with the transition. I get my Zignature dog food from here, too. They carry all of the flavor varieties. We also buy the cute little gourmet dog biscuits and we get the CBD oil and other supplements. They truly have everything a holistic pet store should have. We also take one of our dogs here to see Dr. Christina Cole for chiropractic care. Jill and Dr. Cole are extremely patient and compassionate. I love The Pet Beastro! From day one all of the ladies there have been nothing but helpful. My husband and I had just gotten a 6 month old pitbull who was constantly getting a UTI (urinary tract infection). I took him to the vet and he was constantly on meds. I stopped in one day to The Pet Beastro and was told that they could have Jill call me when she got in, well she did and she was a world of information for me. I put him on some holistic stuff but was still having problems with the UTI. Finally Jill talked to me enough about raw that I decided it was time to give it a go, she gave me the info and told me the infamous quote "don't overthink it." I'm 8 months in on feeding raw to both of our pitbulls and no UTI has shown it's face. Jill is an amazing person and you can tell that she really genuinely cares about your pet and making sure you leave there with enough information to conquer the world (ok maybe not that much but you get the point). I would HIGHLY recommend The Pet Beastro to anyone who wants to get their animal on a healthier diet, whether you are considering raw or kibble. It was 2 years ago this month when I found myself sitting in on a lecture (seminar? talk?) about what goes into commercial kibble pet food. I was completely disgusted! It was then that I met Jill and visited the Pet Beastro. Jill has been extra helpful and patient with me while I started transitioning my dogs from kibble to raw, and I've seen her do the same with all of her customers. She's very knowledgeable and always ready to answer questions or offer suggestions. And if she doesn't know the answer, she'll do the legwork to find it. I have been shopping at the Pet Beastro for about a year and it is kind of like Cheers. I walk in the door and "Hi Cate!", everybody knows my name. Like many other posters, my dogs are my kids and I only get the best for them. One of my dogs has severe allergies and is on a lamb limited diet and they have expanded their product offering regularly so we can try new, healthy lamb choices in treats and food. They have everything you need to keep your furfreinds happy and balanced. Good food, fun toys, great chews. Most importantly, if there is something you are used to getting at big box pet store that they don't carry, they will tell you why. That can be a great education. Stopped in after reading the reviews here and I was immediately greeted by a rep with free samples. Everything in the store is raw or all natural and I really liked the huge variety of food and treats they are able to acquire. My dog went nuts over all the smells. I bought a few bags of treats- I did have to look at price tags first because this place is EXPENSIVE but it is such a good feeling knowing I am giving my dog the best. When I checked out the girls were smitten with my puppy and loaded my bag up with a ton of free samples. I walked out with so many goodies. My dogs loved all of the treats too! When I adopted my adult cat, he had some digestive problems. His breath was horrible, he had litter box issues, and he threw up food at least 3 times per week. I tried every commercial cat food available at the pet store to no avail. I did some research on the internet and found out about raw food. I contacted Jill Tack who was a distributor then, and she educated me about how to move my cat to a raw food diet. My cat has been eating raw meat foods as his primary food for about 2 years now, and the change was amazing. Within a few weeks, the turn around was complete. He no longer has any scent to his breath, his litter box is virtually odorless and clean, no hairballs, no throwing up and his coat is spectacular, not to mention his personality. I did have to do some experimentation with the types of meats he could handle...he appears to be pretty sensitive. He eats chicken/salmon mix, and rabbit only. The pet beastro is my favorite and go to place for all my pets needs. The staff there is extremely educated and willing to help you with any questions you may have about diet, or ingredients. The staff is very sweet as well, and even other customers i've never had an issue with disrespecting space or anything like that! Very respectful people all around. I bring in my Pomeranian who is yappy and scared of people still. But they have worked hard to learn my dog with me and to make him feel comfortable when we go in the store. They all know him now and offer him treats inside. They have an endless amount of raw options (nuggets/ pattie's), as well as dehydrated raw, and kibble brands as well. They don't sell nothing I wouldn't trust feeding my own dog. Even treat and toy options are endless! there's something there for everybody! (Even candles, mugs, and human clothes too!) Cat toys and food as well, and supplements and anything else you would need health wise for your pets. I definitely recommend checking out this small business and supporting it if your in the area! I would give The Pet Shop Beastro 5 stars if not for one thing that annoys me every time I go. That is, I always feel like the owner does not want me to stay. Maybe my beard is scarring her, I don't know :-{) I know that's probably not her intention, but just the way she stands behind the counter and very impatiently places things into the bag while I was still browsing with stuff in my hand.... Well.... did not feel very welcoming. I've seen her do this to other customers too. It's hard enough to get a man to buy treats and bells, but the added cold customer service makes it hard to shop. Heck, even their Facebook page is cold. Customers would post things on their wall and not even get a reply. I'm willing to bet if The Pet Shop Beastro had a more friendly atmosphere they would definitely do better.... Before die-hard TPB fans chastise me. Remember, I did give it 4 stars for a reason.... It is by far THE BEST no nonsense pet supply store I have even been to. It has no frills. Just clean, great selection, high quality and competitively priced pet supplies. It is true that the owner is extremely picky and well learned about pet nutrition. This alone has kept me going back. You can't find a lot of the things they sell on-line. Everything about this place is wonderful! From the customer service to the selection to the knowledge and the shop cat! I just left my first visit and I'm so excited. I went in with the intentions of upgrading my cats diet by a landslide and really needed some guidance. I was a first time customer and made an appointment for 39 dollars to have my puppy see a nutritionist to get a good raw diet going, I left work early, got my daughter early from school to make the appointment in Madison Hts from my city Macomb Township and 1 hour before the appointment they call to cancel , I understand people get sick and go home, but to say they are a little busy, I explained that calling 1 hour before to cancel after I left work early is so unprofessional. This is an appointment I made in advanced and a paid appointment. All they could do was reschedule. I said no because they can waste my time again and do it again leaving work early.
