Oh my goodness the service was so prompt and friendly. The location is humble and family inviting. Our Vet Tech was kind, patient and just the right amount of toughness to handle my scared dog child. Then the amazing Dr. Flan arrived and was detailed, lots of love, and took care of my Honey with the greatest of care. Knew exactly what to do for her to take care of her. Dr Lange and her staff are absolutely amazing! I've had such a hard time finding a Dr that is willing to go beyond for my cats and Dr Lange and staff do that job so wonderfully. She truly is awesome in being knowledgeable and caring. Having her assistants have great bed side manners and well respect for your thoughts and concerns. I've had such a hard time with my cat espooky and his asthma diagnosis and Dr Lange made my question and concerns feel like I was finally heard and my cat got what he needs. There are not a lot of independent vets around anymore, especially after VCA started aggressively buying out existing clinics to build monopolys for vet care in various regions across the USA. The Pet Clinic is a gem among a sea of unnecessary test/pill upsells, factory-line care and corporate bleakness that can be found all around San Diego. Dr. Laing and staff are always incredibly friendly, competent and carings. My two girls have never had a bad experience when being seen and Dr. Laing always keeps their best interest as the #1 priority. I would 100% recommend her to take care of your pets. I almost didn't want to write this review, because then more people will know how great this place is and it will be harder to get an appt!! read more

Best Pet clinic in SouthBay & maybe all of San Diego. Been to a few & easily this is our favorite & best one, affordable, friendly & most importantly caring & loving to us & our pets. Dr. Herron is retired & no longer here but Dr. Laing (I believe that's her name) & her staff are awesome & Laing worked with Herron & is as good & maybe even better, her care & concern for animals is beautiful. They never try to hustle or sell you on stuff not needed, they are honest & their customer service is on point. My wife Jackie brought both our Yorkies Lulu & Tinkerbell for Fox Tails one on its paw the other on her eye. We really thought the one with the eye would need surgery & most vets would of pushed it but they didn't they took it out & helped us cure her eye as time went by & both our doggies are great now. We have sent other friends to them & all have had positive visits. A trip to the vet is never a happy visit but know that coming here you will get honest, caring & great care for your pets. I have been going to this clinic for about 7 years. At the beginning the vet was Dr Kenneth Herron. Oddly, the sign hasn't changed the name, any way he was amazing! His fees, suggestions and support were all reasonable and you didn't feel like he was trying to upsell you on anything. My dog is a senior dog and has started eating prescription food which was suggested by an emergency vet. To get her to continue prescribing the food was a headache and she is very careful to only prescribe until the next checkup is due. (Needs her money) he is also on other medications and getting those is a complete hassle. Even if you are up to date on the exam, it takes her 24-48 hours to get you the prescription. If you like chewy don't even think about trying that, they refuse to work with chewy because they want all the money from prescription to themselves. My final straw is I took a prescription she has given me to the pharmacy since she didn't carry it. (She acted annoyed that I had switched his pain med after the emergency vet to one she doesn't have) I ended up getting a call from the clinic saying that she will not let them fill it because my dog needs bloodwork first. She wrote the prescription! Also, I don't know how nice of a person she is. She was talking extremely rudely to her employee in front of me because they were out of ink and she should have already ordered. Super unorofessional! I miss Dr Herron!!! read more

Although I'd recommend this place, they didn't necessarily wow me for any particular reason. My main issue with this clinic is that I called looking for dental service for one of my dogs. I get to the appt, see the vet, she confirmed the dental issues my dog had and let me know she doesn't provide dental service! Had I been told that ahead of time I would've looked elsewhere before resorting to this place. When you make your appointments I'd caution you to ask if they provide such service that you may be looking for. The staff was nice as well as the vet however. Place is small so if you have bigger or multiple pets it could get tight in there. read more

Dr. Laint is amazing professional and expert with a wonderful personality and down to earth friendly attitude that puts a smile on your face. Dr. Laint goes beyond to accommodate you and makes you feel you're in great hands with no apprehension. Took my cat in with an infection on his paw and Dr. Laint quickly examined and determined an antibiotic and a cleaning was all that was needed. Thank you Dr. Laint. Dr. Laing and The Pet Clinic are absolutely fantastic! Dr. Laing is the most HONEST and reasonable vet I've ever dealt with. She truly cares about and loves the animals she cares for. She offers the best care available but does not try to "upsell" unnecessary things. I actually worked with her briefly over 15 years ago as an assistant and she was one of the VERY FEW veterinarians that seemed to wholeheartedly care about the animals and not the money. I was recently thrilled to find that she is practicing locally and immediately took my own cat (who is very difficult to deal with) to her. If I could give 0 stars I would. The vet was terrible. Dr. Laing spoke to me in a condescending and rude tone. Wouldn't let me get a word out. Wouldn't listen to me when explaining my pets issues. Felt like she was in a rush and had somewhere better to be. Has very poor communication skills with clients and her vet techs. It was an extremely horrible experience and would never recommend this vet to anyone even if they were the last vet open in San Diego. And at the end of the day didn't help my dog feel better and address the issues that I initially came in with. I will say that Katherine (the tech) was amazing and took the time to listen to me and was very helpful. If looking for a good vet here in San Diego you should really go somewhere else. read more

Called for pricing and an emergency tooth extraction at 2:45pm. They got me in at 3:15pm. Doctor was in right away and got us out of there by 3:35pm. AND I was charged HALF the price my regular vet quoted me!!! If that's not the best vet visit I've ever had, I don't know what is. I see many complaints concerning Dr. Herron and his age. Do not let that discourage you from bringing your animal in. Especially not if you're looking for an honest and affordable vet. You will be thanking him for still continuing to work now even at his age! They are located in Otay but I promise you, after you make it there ONE TIME. You will NEVER go to another vet again. Trust me, that's exactly what happened to me. PS. They have two clinic cats. One is orange and the other one is black. The orange one is named Red. He is 9months old with the best personality ever. I don't normally leave reviews. But my pet had a medical emergency and was not in very good shape. I called my own vet along with multiple others including the emergency pet hospitals, all of which said they didn't have appointments for a week out. Ridiculous! I called The Pet Clinic which is also about 5 min from me, and they said if I got there within 25 min they could squeeze me in before their lunch. I was able to get there and get the care my dog needed. Dr. Laing was very nice, professional, and also listened to what I had to say, which most vets really don't I have noticed. My dog is on the mend and feeling much better today. The pricing also seemed reasonable. I may just be switching my dog's care over to this vet! I also want to add all of the front desk staff and nurses were super nice as well!! It was just a great experience over all! read more

I took my kitten in to get neutered ($60) and second set of shots ($40). I had been here before and it was a good experience. Also... sooo reasonably priced. I came all the way down from La Mesa and dropped him off at 7:15 am. I went back to pick him up at 2:30 pm. My poor kitten was upset when i picked him up but this is clearly understandable. He was also staggering when i got him home but after a few hours he was much better. The vet gave me some pain meds (tablets) to give him the next morning and the 2 following days. Luckily he didnt need them at all and was playing and feisty the day after the neutering. I also bought flea meds, Comfortis ($20) that i administered a little after i got my kitten home and more comfortable. I had previously given him Vectra and used diatomaceous earth but nothing worked. I was desperate to get rid of his fleas because he was itching a lot and uncomfortable. I was not looking forward to giving him the pill after what he had gone through, but i did it anyways. I ground the pill up, put it in a little water and forced it down with a syringe. It must have tasted horrible because he fought me. However within an hour the fleas were falling off of him, dead! Today, day 2, he is flea free and happy as can be. Very good experience and the long drive was worth it. read more

Dr. Herron is a knowledgeable vet with many years under his belt. He's very blunt when it comes to the health of your pet, but I love how he doesn't sugar coat anything to get his point across. Staff is friendly and offers great follow up. I LOVE how they don't force any services or extra products on you. *They are the place to go for the most affordable vaccinations.* They also have two friendly hospital cats who lounge in and around the waiting area and sometimes wander outside as my dog has been very keen on observing (she has a slight prey drive). Small clinic and Dr. Herron is pretty old school when it comes to his methods. My concern does happen to center around his age unfortunately. Not once has a qualified veterinary assistant or technician helped him examine my dog during her visits. Often times, I would have to restrain my own dog prior to a vaccination because he wasn't physically able to perform the task. He seems to be particularly stubborn about attending to all the appointments too. I'm used to seeing a vet assistant or tech when my dog is due for vaccinations only, but Dr. Herron actually administers them himself. Not only that, I might note that it was also concerning watching him shakily attempt to insert an otoscope into my dog's ear. In any case, I have trusted Dr. Herron for maintaining the health of my dog in the most basic way possible. After all, my girl has been very healthy leading up to her golden years. I have since moved on to another vet to ensure my girl stays in tip top shape in her older years, but just know that you can rely on Dr. Herron for maintaining the most basic needs of your pet at VERY affordable prices. For more advanced procedures, I would seek out another vet. read more

Love Dr Herron we have taken all our beloved pets to his office for 30 years. Best staff caring and compassionate. We have had to put down several of our pets over the years. Difficult decisions , my husband cried and the staff cried. One of my cats was misdiagnosed by 2 different vets twice. I walk in to see Dr. Herron and he was able to diagnose and treat my cat. I called the Pet Clinic and spoke to Selace (sorry, very wrong spelling, likely). She was awesome and empathetic and said she would put me on the waiting list for the next day. Next AM, bright and early, someone called me from this clinic and said they could offer me an appointment because there was a cancellation. This clinic seemed very organized, unlike the many vet offices I had cold-called!!! I was so appreciative they actually called me back unlike many places that didn't. I had taken my pet to the emergency clinic prior so I wasn't able to use the service of this clinic but based on the wonderful front desk, I am considering switching vets. read more

We have been bringing all of our animals here for 13 years and they are amazing! You can not beat their prices anywhere, I tell my friends to come from sd to save hundreds of dollars. We just had to put our cat to sleep (he has been coming here for 13 years and has had several different surgeries here ranging from abscess from fight with dogs, to getting stuck in car engines) this week and they were so kind to my whole family and let us all wait together in a room to ourselves and made a special thing with a lock of his fur and pay prints as a keepsake. They even sent a card to our family afterwards to express their condolences.
