I visited this veterinary clinic in November for one reason: to obtain a one-year prescription for NexGard for my dog. I specifically requested a written prescription twice while I was at the counter. I was told I didn't need one because any third-party pharmacy could simply contact the clinic, and they would approve the prescription request. Based on that information, I left without a written prescription. Months later, when I tried to purchase the medication through Chewy, the clinic refused the request, stating they no longer partner with Chewy. This was never mentioned during my appointment. I was then told there was an internal policy requiring me to purchase the first six months from the clinic in November and only then purchase the second six months in May in order to receive a full year's prescription. This policy was also never explained to me during my visit. When I contacted the clinic, I explained that I had requested a written prescription at my appointment. Instead of acknowledging the misunderstanding, I was told that I had not requested one, effectively calling me dishonest. I asked if they would at least backdate the prescription or honor the remaining months of the original one-year prescription, and even getting the last three months honored required a great deal of effort. My frustration is not about the medication itself. It is about being given incorrect information, not being informed of important policies, and then being treated as though I was the one at fault. I hope sharing my experience helps other pet owners know to insist on a written prescription before leaving if they plan to purchase medication from a third-party pharmacy. read more

She and the technicians were great with our dogs, extremely knowledgeable, and the price was very reasonable. Once again they overmedicated. I went there for itching. The previous Dr had prescribed antibiotics and ISY. The answer was. He was a substitute. Dr, and she didn't know why. No notes. No. Nothing from the previous visit. she sold this a bunch of stuff when I got home. My wife had showing that. She told us that stuff before. And we had lots of leftovers and it didn't work. Shame on me for not knowing what we were sold already. I've got 200 bucks with the stuff in our closet. Find another vet. Dr Singh and Poway was a model. He knew that that were expensive and he tried his best to keep costs down so you could keep your love. One alive. These guys are all about the money. read more

Unfortunately, just about everything went wrong. I brought my dog Buddy to SeaCoast over a 3-week period and spent nearly $2,000. He left sicker than he came in. Buddy originally went in for itching and suspected fleas. I followed all instructions--flea meds, crate rest, bland food--but he quickly got worse. He began trembling, limping, wheezing, coughing, and developed swelling in his face. I returned multiple times. Each visit brought a different guess: maybe a spinal issue, maybe an allergy--but no real diagnosis or action. Eventually, I found barbed plant material (foxtail) embedded in his fur and face--something urgent and dangerous for dogs. I showed the vet photos and even brought physical samples. They refused to remove it, denied further care, and dismissed my concerns. I was later told they would not see him again. Since then, I've had to remove foxtails myself. Buddy is still wheezing and losing weight. I even scheduled a follow-up online, hoping they'd reconsider--but instead I received a formal letter ending our relationship. SeaCoast promotes itself as compassionate and personalized. What I experienced was poor communication, misdiagnosis, and ultimately refusal to treat a visibly suffering animal. If something similar has happened to you, I urge you to file a formal complaint with the California Veterinary Medical Board. Our pets deserve better. read more

I took my cat lily here for a checkup and to get advice on excessive hairballs. Unfortunately they successfully unsold me on a variety of vaccinations Lily had fallen behind on since COVID-19. She was an indoor cat so there really was no risk for her at that time. It was my first time there and I just moved there so I trusted them. They gave her 4 different vaccinations at once. Once I brought her home she took a nap and when she woke up she couldn't find her balance. Within 2 days she was gone. I found out she passed due to Gillian barre syndrome, from too many vaccinations. She was my best friend and I lost her after they assured me she was "perfectly healthy" during her visit. I lost my father the month before and it was a double loss, I lost my emotional support. read more

This place seems all about the money grab! They would hurt my pet with unnecessary surgery just to get money. Never again. My nearly 13-year old cat, Taka, had a swollen/watery eye on 5/31/21. I didn't think it an emergency, and her regular vet's soonest appt was Thurs 6/10/21. On Tues 6/8/21 the swelling was far worse. I almost took her to emergency, but first called other vets and SEACOAST VETERINARY could see her the same day (yay!) I didn't like curbside drop-off but appreciated the same day appt. That day after the "exam", the doctor (I think Dr. Dee) came to me curbside and gave Taka a diagnosis of a probable "tooth abscess"; I was told Taka's teeth were "terrible" and at least two teeth needed extraction.  She gave me a $2,200 quote, a list of recommendations and urged me to make a surgery appt for that Fri (in 3 days). I authorized a rabies shot, an antibiotic shot and antibiotic oral drops; paid the $226.20 but DID NOT make the surgery appt, despite the doctor's warning to not wait as the antibiotic is temporary and the abscess would return. Thurs 6/10/21, Taka had the appt with her regular vet, SOUTH SAN DIEGO VETERINARY.  I was allowed into the enclosed exam room with Taka, the room got a disinfectant cleaning after each exam, and everyone was masked.  The vet tech Carol and Dr. McAndrew examined Taka and saw puncture wounds on her face and under the eyelid of her swollen eye.  They showed me the bite mark pattern that indicated Taka was probably bitten by another cat while in the backyard.  The wounds had scabbed over but the under eyelid trauma was still red.  They examined Taka's teeth and saw some tartar/gingivitis but said it wasn't "terrible".  Taka got a feline probiotic for diarrhea caused by the antibiotic, and I was charged $46.50.  Taka was back to normal in a few days. Now five months later she is healthy with no return of a "tooth abscess". If SEACOAST did a proper exam, how could Dr. Dee and their vet techs not see bite wounds on Taka's face and under her swollen eyelid?  SOUTH SAN DIEGO VETERINARY noticed the wounds immediately!  SEACOAST's exam was either poor-quality or an unethical money grab... pushing to place my cat under general anesthesia and needlessly extract two teeth! read more

I would avoid using this place at all costs. Could be the worse customer service I have ever experienced from any businesses. Additionally, in comparing prices they are extremely overpriced in comparison. DO NOT USE THIS VET! Edit due to response to Dr Dee: I was not upset when coming into the vet. My reason for being upset the first day was due to brining pet and being told I wasn't needed in the office and went to take a phone call. Staff member came outside said they needed me for a second after being there 45m after being told at the start I wasn't needed. The reason they needed me was they needed my consent to start a bandage on the dogs foot. So I was at the office for over 45m for them to have not started a single thing. I had to come in the very next day to get the bandage completed that day. Various interactions similar to this as well as two other people experiencing customer service problems when dropping off the dog. Again, I would not use this vet! I want to make sure I am clear here. There was nothing wrong with the actual treatment of the dog, outside of what I would consider over pricing. What myself and many others on these reviews have stated is the customer service is the main problem. The Dr. can try to respond to each one like there is a singular problem, but the fact is this is a very common theme among the majority of reviews. read more

This place is completely money hungry!!! Paid nearly $1200 for my cat to be diagnosed with pancreatitis. I asked if we could run some tests, not all and was told no by the doc. Not sure why? Especially since the vet mentioned pancreatitis before we even ran tests. So why couldn't we run just that test? Or maybe a couple? I guess I'm at fault for not questioning it more, but I was worried for my pet. Totally feeling like we've been had by this place. read more

***My last visit here 8/13/22 was a nightmare for my dog who is already terrified of the vet. She needed blood and urine samples taken and she was already shaking and panting uncontrollably when they dragged her to the back. I am sitting in the waiting room holding back tears because I can hear her crying and struggling for what seemed like forever. All of a sudden, the back doors fly open, and here comes my terrified dog with a muzzle on running to me to save her. The vet techs came running out trying to drag her back and I told them I was going to leave with her unless they let me back there. They all said no except for an older lady who convinced them to let me, so I took her back and helped pin her down while they stuck a catheter through her stomach into her bladder. I don't think my dog will ever walk foot in a vet clinic again. I didn't even want to go back but they had already taken the bloodwork needed for her sedated nail trim I was going to book next.....which brings me to today: My dog has extreme anxiety and requires almost complete sedation for a nail trim. This ends up being very expensive because I have to get bloodwork done and an exam before each time. I usually get this done before the sedation appointment so she is not waiting in a kennel for hours for the results to clear her. This is why I came to this vet 2 months ago **which was the visit I detailed above**. They did an exam and took bloodwork which THEY TOLD ME would clear her for her sedation appointment that I would book. When I called today, the front desk girl said I would need to have another exam and more bloodwork. Another almost $300. When I reminded her we just had those done and I was told that would go towards this appointment she just said "no" and I would need to get it redone. No further explanation. When I asked to speak with who I spoke with before she ignored me and said she would reconfirm with a vet tech, and came back telling me the answer was still no. It's really a shame no one could explain to me why I was told one thing and now another. I really liked Dr. Flores so that is why I gave 2 stars instead of 1, but will not be returning because of the staff. If you have an animal with anxiety do not come here. They don't care. read more

Never ever ever would recommend this place. Absolutely TERRIBLE. Have to jump through hoops to get my dogs script sent to Walmart each month. There have been multiple instances in which they are completely irresponsible but I'll share the latest. My dog needs a refill I call at 9am they say they'll call back when it's ready.... 130/2pm I CALL THEM they say the vet approved it but they need to call it in and they will let me know when it's ready - it'll be today or tomorrow. I know from experience with Walmart that unless the drug is out of stock they will have it ready in a few hours. So 4:40pm comes and STILL NO CALL BACK FROM VET so I call. They say they called it in but she was confused about a fax they got 10 minutes after calling so she wasn't sure they'd have it ready.... cause she got a strange fax... Okay, this is totally fine, she will just call them back to make sure it went through, right? WRONG she tells me it's my job to call and make sure she did her job. I asked her, since she wasn't sure it would be there, to call Walmart to verify if they needed anything else from the vet so I don't get over there and have them tell me they couldn't give it to me cause they needed the vet to do something else.... She agreed but never did it and told my husband when he called that it was our job to follow through. UM WHAT. We pay a ton of money for care here and you're getting paid to do your job.... if you're not sure wether my dogs prescription went through, it would seem that you'd figure it out! Not tell me it's my job to follow through on YOUR JOB. And by the way I DID call Walmart before calling the vet for the THIRD time and it's impossible to get through so I called the vet once again before they closed. All this to say is that they want your money they want to make it hard as frick to get scripts from anyone but them. It is not a surprise that this is the worst rated veterinarian in the area amongst imperial beach locals, not even the pet store next door to them recommends them, they send us to Chula Vista or Tijuana if we are looking for caring quality affordable pet care. Save yourself the headache and your money and go somewhere else. Your dog will receive treatment to control but not resolve whatever issue you're having, in order to keep you coming back. And you'll get a different doctor each time or risk having to wait weeks for an appointment which worsens the dog's condition, in their favor. Times aren't accurate on their door. Closed three hours early on a Tuesday. Staff have a take it or don't attitude that is very snobby and shows lack of professionalism. They also Won't release medical records of your dog in a timely manner and won't tell you when they will be released so that you can take it somewhere else where they can tend to them. read more

Dr. Dee and her staff are wonderful. From the day we brought our 9 week old puppy home to her now being 8 months old, they have taken care of us every step of the way. They have an amazing package for puppies that saves you money on shots, microchip and spay/neuter. If I ever had a small/dumb question I could always call and they were happy to answer. Also, my pup LOVES going to the vet. When we pull up she starts whining and practically drags me in; so, I absolutely know for a fact they take care of her when I am not there. The day of our appointment my husband wrote on yelp a very nice review about this veterinary group we generally enjoy it the doctors are great and most of the techs are great as well however I received a call today saying that our pets sample has been lost and we have to collect a new one this is extremely frustrating especially since I came in before the appointment to collect the bag for it. I was told it was due to new techs which is again very unfortunate. We go to this place very often and spend a good amount of money, we generally enjoy it however they really dropped the ball on this one I will be I guess collecting another sample from my animal and going back in and making sure I hand over the sample to an experienced tech. Super friendly staff and doctor. Took my kitty in for a first exam and did a fecal that came back negative. I was charged $66 for the first exam and $61 for fecal. Which is normal. Then I went in a few weeks later for my kittys first set of shots and flea meds and was charged for a "recheck exam" of $55... The doctor took my kittys vitals but that's it.. I've never been charged for another exam fee with in a few weeks unless my animal was ill and needed a recheck.. Usually I pay a one time fee exam and then just pay for shots and or flea meds. The tech informed me because she's a kitten I'll have to pay $55 every visit until she's old enough.. I called the other vet down the street in imperial beach and asked their pricing.. they said first exam is half off and then I will just pay for shots and not another exam fee. No matter the kittens age. Which is what I'm used to. I have three animals and that's how's it's been will all them and I've had them all since they were a kitten and puppy. Nice vet but too pricy. Even the other vets shots are cheaper. So I will be going there instead. If you can afford it they're great though! They were really nice about me mentioning my cost concern and letting them know I'd be going elsewhere. read more

So, I'm looking for a vet closer to my new house. I have a great vet now but he's 30 miles away. I called here trying to figure out if they'd be a good local vet. No, they won't. Here's why: They want to charge for Office visits even when it's just for a vaccination after a recent Office visit. Example, I'm taking a newly purchased puppy here to get a check up. $47. Everything checks out great. But I know that she'll need shots in 3 weeks. I asked if I can just bring her in for the shots or if I'll be charged for an office visit too.... Answer is You Will Be Charged for another Office visit! That's crazy. I don't support a vet that knowingly overcharges for unnecessary fees. I'd rather drive the 60 mile round trip to visit an honest vet. The vets comment below just validated my opinion that they enjoy making frivolous charges. Many of us know how to track our own fur babies weight and are responsible owners that train our dogs, including the CGC canine good citizen program. read more

Dr. Dee really cares about animals. She's serious about them receiving proper care, and was very thorough in explaining what our pet needed in order to feel better. I appreciate her directness and the compassion she's shown toward our kitty. We know we can trust her 100% with her advice. We travel 30 minutes to make sure we're getting our kitty the best care possible. Don't ever take your dog here. My dog fell and broke her arm. They brought my boyfriend and I in the back then in a rude manner asked my boyfriend to leave the room. Then told me she needs to do x-rays, she would give her pain meds. She took our puppy back for x-rays and asked me to wait in the lobby. After the x-rays were done she come into the waiting room to give us the news (instead of bringing us back into a room and privately discuss it) she tells us it's broken. She may need surgery or we could put a splint on it. She didn't break it down or allow us to ask questions. She just walks away. Then she comes back a few minutes later and says I'm calling hospitals to see who would take her in. She tells us she has no time to splint it. The office was NOT busy at all. They were going to be open another hour. She sends us to an emergency vet, where we paid an additional $1,200 on top of $400 she charged us. The hospital couldn't fix it and asked multiple times why the vet just didn't do it herself?? Great question. Bottom line dont ever take your pets here. The first time I took my new puppy she raised her voice at me. I should have known then that she was not a place for us to go. read more

I'm glad I'm not the only one thinking Dr. Dee is the typical veterinarian trying to running expensive and unnecessary test. The first time I came here she wasn't there. Another doctor gave me advice and quick answer to my questions and concerns. He found out my dog wasn't pregnant just by doing a ultrasound test for $50 at the clinic. By next heat, eight months later, she offer me a +$300 lab test to found out if she's pregnant. Even if you Google it, it said a veterinarian can know if a dog is pregnant just by touching the belly after 4 weeks. The two start are for the rest of the staff. Very friendly and attentive all of them. ...................................................................... After her response I just have to said... Make sense for anyone else she can perform an ultrasound at 21 days but she can't at day 42?
