I used The Pet Salon twice. Prior to using the services, I spoke in detail with the owner about my dog's sensitivity to being put in a crate or in any way isolated. The first service was positive, my dog was well cared for and they did a nice job. The 2nd time unfortunately was very upsetting. After getting the same service, my daughter picked up my dog (slightly late due to the salon contacting the wrong family member for pickup, who was out of town) Once she got back, we noticed that one of his nails had been injured, and had the remnants of antiseptic around that paw. We were shocked to see this, especially when there had been no communications to us that anything happened to him. When I called and spoke with a woman who was either the manager or an owner, she said she would investigate and get back to me. And in her follow up, she told me that "my dog did this to himself" because we were late picking him up and she implied that he was acting up (barking, etc), and then banged his nail and it was bleeding. (as a side note, they were told "who" to contact for pickup, since only I was local that day and didn't follow it. It was 15 min notice, and they contacted me a while after they called my husband who was not in town) Bottom line, there is so much wrong with the owner's messaging to me. Regardless of "who's fault" the late pickup was ... she was clear that they put him in a stressful situation for that extra "wait time". (it was an additional 15 minutes by the time my daughter got there). Their staff ignored the signs that my dog was stressed being in the situation we had warned not to do to him until he was stressed enough to injure himself. This owner's willingness to "blame the customer" for their own poor handling of the situation is a disappointment. But much worse was her decision NOT to disclose that the injury happened at all under their care. Mistakes happen, and had she responded differently, we likely would have continued to use their services. In the end, the owner had the opportunity to take responsibility for their mistakes to ensure it wouldn't happen again. And we would have been a repeat customer. A non-disclosure of an injury to your pet - WHOEVER is at fault - is not only a violation of customer trust but I would suspect state regulations. I RARELY write reviews, especially for understandable mistakes which will happen, so long as they can be discussed and remedied. But this owner's approach and judgment is a different level and I felt it was important to share. read more

We have been using the Pet Salon since 2022. My dog was initially injured once before and clear notes were left on his account not to crate him. In 2025, they crated him again, causing the same injury, barely acknowledged it, and still charged full price. They also cancelled an appointment with less than 2 days' notice and didn't offer another for 2 months. Unsafe, unreliable, and unprofessional. Reaction to Pet Salon's answer to the review. You did not handle the situation correctly. I was told on the phone that his DuClaw was already hanging on and scabbing, after dropping him off. This was not true. The injury occurred in your Salon, now two times, from being crated. I check Charlie regularly, to say we neglect him is rude. Just because we get him groomed every 4 months you're going to hold that against us? We're locals, and your salon is overbooked in the summer. Thus, we've had to use other groomers from time to time. Upon arrival, I was greeted by your desk attendant and asked about the injury and she barely could answer me. She just got up and said let me get Beth. Who then came out from the back with an arrogant attitude. I could immediately tell she knew they were in the wrong and that she wasn't going to own up to their mistake. So I paid and left without incident. I was never looking for a free service, just a quality one. I'm in customer service, and I treat people with respect, that is not what you get at the Pet Salon. Stay away! This place is awful. The owner is awful. The service is terrible. I am an existing customer whose appointment was canceled last summer out of nowhere. I attempted to give this place a second chance this summer, and despite getting a automatic response from their system, they never contacted me and then claimed they never received any notice even though their own system responded to my scheduling request! Do yourself a favor and stay away and avoid being treated this way. read more

Came in for a nail clipping--website says they take walk-ins (and I've done it here before). I stood at the gate as instructed, while two employees in the back made direct eye contact with me... and went right back to their phones. No "hello," no "we'll be right with you," nothing. Even after I asked if they were taking walk-ins, they just stared. I left, called (no answer), and requested an appointment online--was told nothing until October. If walk-ins aren't available, the website should be updated. But more importantly, basic customer service--like acknowledging someone standing right in front of you--shouldn't be optional. I had an experience that I've never had before in my life.I have been going here for 15 years.Some rude old man with a ponytail started barking orders to me like a drill Sargent.Never have l seen him before. I tried to just ignore him but he kept barking orders at me.I opened the gate and tried to ignore his rudeness and carried my 7 pound poodle to the desk to hand him off to Beth or anyone else.this rude ponytail guy wouldn't leave me alone.I told him I wanted to speak to the owner and he said loudly. I am the owner and get out of here he said loud and demeaning to me. So left extremely shook up.I have never been thrown out of anywhere in my life and this was a terrible experience. read more

Amazing! I received a Persian cat that was severely matted and I brought him to them to see what they can do. They were able to shave him down not only getting rid of his matted areas, but giving him the cutest haircut, bow, and he smells and feels so good! he's happy, we're happy, they definitely exceeded our expectations! We had a not so great experience with another grooming salon, which led us to take our other cat to Petsmart before knowing about this place, Which was fine. However,They both will be going to the pet salon in Margate from now on. So glad we found them. Amazing job! read more

I have to take a few minutes to tell you about the great experience I had at Margate New Jersey's "Pet Salon" groomers. We noticed that Ben, our nine year old, 55 pound Golden Doodle was licking his front right paw. After looking at it, we saw some blood around his thumb nail. (The curly one) We didn't know if the nail had cut him because it was too long, or he had cut it somewhere else, but we knew he had somehow been cut. It was already a little after 4PM, and my wife suggested I take him to the "Pet Salon" because they do walk in nail clipping. I thought it might be too late, but I took the chance and went over. When I got there, the door was locked, but I could see a light on in the back, and then saw someone at the desk in the front. I knocked on the door, and when a woman answered, I asked if she was closed? She said "Yes," and when I told her about Ben's paw, she said to come in. After clipping all his other nails, she looked at Ben's paw and showed me where the blood vessel had somehow become separated from the nail. After telling me she wasn't a vet, she asked if she could clean the area, clip the curly nail, and put a liquid bandage where it had been bleeding. I said sure, and she took great care of him. This was all done after the shop had already been closed. When we were leaving, she gave me a pack of the liquid bandage, and after thanking her profusely, I asked how much I owed her. She said, "Nothing." After offering again, she again said, "Nothing," and to "pay it forward." Ben only had his nails clipped, so I can't write about other grooming services, although my sister has had her dogs groomed there and has always been very happy. Also, anyone THIS nice, HAS to be someone worth trying if grooming is needed while at the shore, and is certainly someone worth patronizing. We love the Pet Salon! I have four dogs and they all come out looking beautiful every time! Two of my dogs are seniors and had become anxious at the groomer in the later years. Since we found the pet salon they are happily walk through the door and are just as happy when I pick them up. They are clearly well cared for. Because they are seniors the groomers make sure their stay is are short so they don't get stressed. Each and every person that works at the Pet Salon is incredibly knowledgable, caring and kind. Kudos to Beth the owner who has obviously put her heart into her business! so thankful to have such an amazing place to groom my pups! read more

I had been taking my pets to the Margate Pet Salon off and on for years, despite that I found this pet groomer over-priced and over-rated. That is until the co-owner Chuck Simons lashed out at and brutally insulted me. That guy has a major attitude problem. As a result, I will never patronize this pet salon again. My pups and I had a great experience at Pet Salon. The owner is so kind and thorough and obviously truly loves what she does. She spent time asking not only about what style of cut I was looking for, but also about my dog's personalities (one is a rescue who can be skittish--the owner Beth wrote "slow and reassuring" on her card so anyone in the grooming area would know). I highly recommend this business. The grooming is superb and my dogs left happy, clean and looking good. Prices are a little higher than what I pay in the Philly suburbs, but honestly it was worth it for the care and quality that was received. I was very disappointed with this salon. We had gone here one time to get a nail trim and had a good experience and decided to take our dog to get a full bath and cut. My dog has very thick long hair which she doesn't let us brush so we knew she would have to get some knots cut. After agreeing on cutting it short (1/2 inch left of hair) to get out all the knots we come back to find our dog with patches of skin and hair missing around her eyes, legs and bottom. Our dog was unrecognizable and with hair shorter than agreed. The groomers were very rude about the situation. read more
