When she arrived she was lively, sweet, cuddly and eager. When I picked her up she had lost 4 lbs, had bald spots from either self-harm or rubbing against a crate that was too small. The owner then handed me a black trash bag that contained the remnants of my sweet dog's bed- it was shredded to pieces (either my dog was so upset that she tattered her own bed for the first and only time ever or another dog was so close and aggressive that she had to witness it). The trash bag also weighed close to 15lbs due to the amount of urine that was soaked in it. It took my Russell nearly 2 weeks to settle back into a peaceful way of life. Clearly she had not been given the opportunity to relieve herself in an appropriate setting, let alone walk for any distance. If I had the ability to drive back and board up the doors to this animal hell-hole myself I absolutely would. NEVER EVER TRUST THESE PEOPLE WITH YOUR BELOVED PETS.

We had her for two months and she was still so skittish and shy when we decided to try to bring her to Hounds Town. The staff is amazing and really understands that every dog is different and has their own needs. The first time we brought her, I almost didn't leave her because she looked so sad and scared when I was leaving. The second time I brought her she still looked back at me but it wasn't as bad. By the third time, she was pulling me into the building and did not look back at me at all when I left. Tail wagging and wiggle butts every time now! The staff remembers her name every time and they truly love to see her come in. She has blossomed under their care and is no longer the shy, scared pup she once was. We look forward to the "paw-ties" they throw and the fun photos and "paintings" she gets sent home with. She gets spa treatments (baths and nails)!
