The maintenance team removed a shade from a lamp in an attempt to help, but the weak bulbs failed to provide sufficient illumination. If it weren't for this issue, I would've rated Courtyard four stars; as it stands, I won't book another room here until ceiling lights are installed, which is a shame because otherwise, the room was well appointed with a comfortable bed & great shower pressure. Front desk employees were warm & welcoming. Lobby area has a bright & spacious lounge. For food options, there's a Trader Joe's located across the street, as well as drinks, snacks, & basic medicine & toiletries for sale in the lobby. They were efficient and to the point. I requested a high room and got it. Nice. Thanks. Another star. The room was very plain. Not a single fancy thing. As I said, the bed was good. Old furnishings. No fridge. I had to request one. The bathroom floor was sticky. What? Shower was OK. No hand soap around the sink. The curtains were ripped. Again, WHAT?. Everyone was nice. Especially housekeeping. My only gripe with the room is the bathroom, I didnt like how inside the bathroom there wasnt a table or a shelf in the bathroom to put toiletries. And water easily soaks the floor while showering. It wasnt as sunny as we wanted but we set by the pool the 2 days we were there and it was relaxing. Friday there was a dj, and overall it seems folks come here for day passes and the night time "club" like area. Overall good experience.

It is only about 20 minutes outside of Center City Philly, but feels a world away. Tucked away in a quiet location near a windy road surrounded on both sides with green trees everywhere. The hotel sits right on the Schuylkill River and the parking lot has an industrial look with old steel beams above it and an old railroad track near the hotel. There is also the Pencoyd Bridge which allows you to walk across the river and the Cynwyd Heritage Trail which is a roughly 2-mile trail along the river. Really beautiful setting. The interior of the hotel is nice, modern, and clean. The room was great with a full kitchen and the high ceilings (11-foot?) made the room feel very open and spacious. The beds were comfortable as well. There are two restaurants directly on the hotel premises. Lark and The Landing Kitchen (TLK). We did not try Lark but we ordered food from TLK twice. They have a small menu, but offer enough variety. The TLK burger was one of the best burgers I have had. The smoked turkey hoagie was solid. I would have liked to try the breakfast burrito but that will have to wait until next time. The hotel offers free breakfast from 6:00 - 9:00 a.m. and it was actually a very good breakfast. All your standard options like bagels, muffins, fruit, breakfast potatoes, eggs, bacon, coffee and juices. They also have waffle makers; the kind where you pour the batter in yourself. There are only two things that prevented this review from being a 5/5 star rating. The shower is very roomy but only half of the shower has glass, the other half is wide open. This made the water from the shower pool on the floor right outside of the shower where there is no glass. Not a huge deal, I just put a towel down. The other thing is that room service came into our room and emptied our trash cans but didn't do anything else. They did not restock the toilet paper, did not make the beds, did not provide clean towels, did not do anything else besides empty the trash cans in the room, which I thought was kind of weird. With that said, we loved our stay and it was the perfect location. We would like to go back and visit again soon.

Great visit to the Residence Inn at Bala Cydwyn for a mini Philadelphia getaway…read more While looking at various hotels in the Philadelphia area, including the downtown area, I saw there were lots of options but many only offered small rooms and charged upwards of $60 per night for parking. Others utilized parking garages "in the area" that were not connected with the hotel and I had some safety concerns with that. I have always enjoyed staying at Marriott's Residence Inns and saw that this one checked all the boxes: good reviews, free parking, free breakfast, fitness center, within minutes from eating options and only 15 minutes away from downtown Philadelphia. The immediate area of the hotel is unique in that it is surrounded by iron works and the hotel builds on that theme with some lovley decor throughout its space. The hotel is right off the Schuykill River. There is a great walking/running trail alongside the river there as well; the Pencoyd Trail. That entire area is separated from the rest of the town by I-95 and some train tracks...very safe and quiet. Check-in process was simple. The lobby was well-maintained with some business-center style computers off to the side. We ended up getting a studio suite with one king bed, sofabed and a kitchen. The room was great...the full-sized refrigerator, kitchen, microwave, iron, ironing board and large TV with adequate channels (including HBO) are always appreciated, especially when traveling with the family. The TV also allows you to sign into a few streaming apps, including Netflix, Youtube and Amazon Prime. Clean bathroom with good water pressure. Efficient climate control in the room as well. Quiet rooms...we didn't hear much outside noise. Ice machines were seemingly on every floor. There are two restaurants at the hotel...one is casual and the other a bit nicer. Hot tea and coffee, iced coffee, water and cookies are free and available at all times in the lobby. There is a "marketplace" shop that sells snacks and drinks in the lobby as well. There is an adequate fitness center, nice-sized pool, a game room (a few games) and a lovely lounge area with a fire place. The lounge area is a quite big and had some great soft/lounge seating throughout as well as lots of board games. A nice place to kill time before check-in or after check-out, or just relax. The stay price was a bit higher than some other options, but the extras and conveniences make up for that. All staff we encountered were friendly and helpful.

Unfortunately, the concert was canceled, and I immediately contacted the hotel to discuss my options. I was told the reservation was non-refundable and was directed to Priceline. After going through Priceline, they attempted to secure a refund but ultimately confirmed that the hotel refused to approve it. I then reached back out to the hotel and asked if they would at least consider a partial refund, allow a date change, or provide a credit for future use. Every single request was denied with no willingness to work with me at all. After over 10 years of staying at Hilton properties, this was by far the most disappointing customer service experience I've had. There was zero flexibility, zero understanding, and no effort to retain a loyal customer. Situations like this are exactly when customer service matters most--and this hotel completely failed. I strongly recommend that anyone considering this location be absolutely certain of their plans before booking. If anything changes, do not expect any accommodation or support. Based on this experience, I will be reconsidering future stays with Hilton brands.

Seems recently renovated. Room was a good size, with a coffee maker, fridge and microwave. Cleaning could have been a little better, especially the drain in the shower where hairs tend to accumulate. Staff was friendly. The breakfast was ok although the breakfast area is too small to accommodate everyone; I ate my breakfast in my room. The best part about the hotel is the location. It is only 10-15 minutes away from many attractions. I would stay here again.

The pool was small but very warm on day 1. Day 2 had more people and it was colder. There is an outdoor pool too but this was a winter visit. The room was smaller than I expected but two queen beds still, a TV, and a small fridge. The bathroom had a Bluetooth in the mirror which my kids both loved. It was clean. Shoutout to housekeeping who stocked extra towels each day without asking. The only negative was our room faced a train track and I heard trains up until 11:30pm. Could have been later but I didn't hear because I was so exhausted from the day. My kids have requested a return trip and I'd be happy to stay here again.
