    Honey wheat loaf of bread
    Jennifer B.

Happened upon the Phoenix Bakery Market while visiting Pittsboro on a Saturday. I definitely wish we had stopped by here on our way into town instead of out of town, because many of their fresh made items were sold out. Our loss and their gain! In the pursuit for homemade bread, we stopped by and grabbed one of the last loaves of honey wheat bread they had. A fair price for such a great looking loaf. We hadn't tried it just yet, but judging by the rest of the items in store, it was going to be great. The shop is a neat mix of fresh baked items, beverages, some shirts for sale, and even more towards the back of the store. Need a gluten-free item? They've got that too! Their biscuits looked delectable, and if hadn't been for the fact we had just finished breakfast, those would have totally made their way into my belly. The store has a nice amount of seating, with enough tables for a group or a nice breakfast for two. The employees are kind and attentive. The store has a soothing vibe to it, like the kind of place you could hang out with friends and catch up over a great bagel. As soon as we arrived home, we sliced into the bread. It had a very subtle and delicious honey flavor and the wheat flavor wasn't overpowering. I look forward to using this bread for my littles lunches this week. I will definitely return here on my next trip to Pittsboro.

Easy to see sign as you come by this bakery

Pittsboro is such a wonderful place to stop and grab yourself a freshly baked treat or a savory breakfast/lunch sandwich. My partner and I were ready to pick up a quick little breakfast on our way to camp at Lake Jordan and our bacon egg and cheeses English Muffins were made fast and easy to eat on the road. I would have loved to try one of their biscuits (huge biscuit fan) but they ran out just as I arrived. I didn't suffer though, their English muffins were very flavorful and delicious.

Cute cute place. I really loved the set up and all the extras they have to offer at this bakery. I tried a breakfast sandwich today which was good and very reasonable. The place is busy and service was good. I asked a small group if we could share a larger table and they were very nice. I would definitely return to try a goodie.

Bacon egg and cheese on dill biscuit.

Mouth salivating goodness!!!!!!! Enjoyed every last bite. Will be back soon! Such a hidden gem.

First time here and the Cheddar dill biscuit with pecan gravy is a definite must. Great atmosphere, coffee, and friendly service. New fav for breakfast.

An asset to Pittsboro. Since the expansion and relocation of Phoenix, they now serve up great breakfasts with fresh, local ingredients. The pricing in great and I'm not sure how they do it. As of 2018 they are slowly rolling out lunch items as well. Of course, it is a bakery and they have amazing bread, cupcakes, donuts, cinnamon rolls and much more. Buy bread by the loaf! Lots of people enjoy the Boston cream doughnut. Great atmosphere and excellent customer service as well.

One of the first places we visited when we moved & it's one of our fave places in Pittsboro. Delicious food. Local goods. Great ambiance. The cheddar rosemary biscuits are incredible.

Chorizo biscuit: Absolutely delicious biscuit and pico de gallo, but could have used more chorizo

Okay, so we live in Chapel Hill but had never heard of this place until my husband's grandmother, who lives in the mountains, told us about it. She's never been to Pittsboro so how did she know about it? A client at the company she works for brings doughnuts when he comes in from RALEIGH. He actually drives South to Pittsboro before driving all the way out to the mountains for these doughnuts in particular. We knew we had to try it. We stopped in around 9 on a Saturday morning and the place was already packed. The gravel parking lot is huge so there was plenty of space there. There are a few tables inside that were all taken, but we were able to find a seat at the small bar after ordering. We actually didn't realize they serve a full menu for breakfast and lunch! We tried the chorizo biscuit, a plain bagel with cream cheese, and an assortment of doughnuts. Chorizo biscuit: The biscuit was just perfect, which is sadly hard to find even around NC these days. It was tender and buttery and held together as a sandwich without being hard. Clearly handmade with a lot of care. The chorizo was crumbled and cooked into the egg. I'll admit the amount of chorizo was a bit scant. This sandwich was also topped with absolutely delicious, fresh pico de gallo and a bit of guacamole. Overall a tasty and filling sandwich! Bagel: Homemade bagel was good but I wasn't blown away by it. I will try another flavor next time as they have so many choices. The raspberry-lemon-mascarpone-cream cheese, though, delicious! Very, very lemony with a distinct creaminess and light cheesy flavor from the mascarpone. This was a unique spread that I will definitely try again. They have lots of flavors of spreads to go along with their many bagels. Doughnuts: We bought 7-8 to try and also bring to Granny. We sampled the coconut cream and boston creme flavors. DELICIOUS. These doughnuts were so unique and like none I've had anywhere else. They're soft and tender, and the fillings and toppings were sweet and flavorful. The coconut was my absolute favorite. There was a huge assortment of pastries and we wanted to try them all. Everything from doughnut bars, cinnamon rolls, and apple fritters for breakfast to miniature upside-down cakes and cupcakes for dessert. They also have gorgeous decorated cakes displayed throughout the bakery, including very reasonably priced wedding cakes in a case at the back. I told my husband on the way out, "The next time we need a cake for a party/baby shower/graduation... we're coming here!" We're already planning our next trip to Phoenix for breakfast, pastries, and especially DOUGHNUTS!

The shop has the display cases right when you walk in the door and there is a little cafe area off to the right which seemed cute. We were greeted when we walked in and the girl who helped us gave us plenty of time while we decided what to order. I asked what her favorite thing was that they had and she told me the danishes or the cheesecakes. I ended up ordering several things to try: a glazed donut, glazed raspberry filled donut, powdered raspberry filled donut, cheese danish, chocolate chip cookie, and cinnamon roll. The donuts and cinnamon roll were given to family who already knew how good the donuts were and we tried the chocolate chip cookie and cheese danish. The chocolate chip cookie was huge, chewy, and had a great flavor. I think my favorite thing I tried was the cheese danish. The dough was buttery and the filling wasn't too sweet. It was a great suggestion from the girl working there. Also, all of this was under $18 which is crazy. Will definitely be coming back.

There I was, standing in front of a bakery case with a ridiculous name--Chicken Bridge--looking at the bagels. Sour dough bagels. Why I decided to buy one, I don't know, especially as it was a whopping $2. I took a bite, then bought the remaining bagel. The following week I went online, ordered a dozen bagels for $1.60 each. This is my new go-to bagel place. Why? They are chewy, flavorful with a sourdough yeasty smell. With my first bagel, I handed out bites to friends at the market, watched their expressions register that aha, these are real bagels, not the doughy circles from other bakeries. I taste their bread samples every week, love the semolina fennel, but keep ordering bagels. They said that the bagels are complicated, take a long time. I can vouch that they are worth every penny. They also provide crusty hearty breads for a local CSA. PS I can't find their phone number.
