I had higher expectations for this restaurant since it is on the Bib Gourmand list, but was not as impressed with the entrees as I was hoping to be. We started with the smoked cod croquette and the bread/hummus. I thought the croquettes had great flavor and was a great way to start off the meal. However, for entrees, I had the duck breast but it was cooked way too rare for my liking. The meat was hard to cut through and the hazelnut "garnish" also overpowered the dish. The Pigeon House is a new addition to The Clontarf Scene (yes, I just said that). On the site which for years was Les Amis and following that Tibors Bistro. Home for the weekend my folks decided that we just had to go. So we headed there in a Sunday afternoon about 3:30 and were on time for their brunch sitting which goes until 4. We were able to get a table without a booking right in the bright window. The menu was wonderful. More Linner than brunch to me! I went with the aubergine, sour dough bread, pesto and goats cheese while my sister went for duck confit with grape quinoa and orange. We then swapped half over as we were so excited to taste multiple dishes. My folks both went for steak and chips which looked divine. The food was all delicious. There was a decent amount but the plates were not overloaded and afterwards I felt full but not stuffed -content! My parents went for desserts and they were excellently presented and apparently very good. The decor is cute. There's many prints with a Clontarf or Pigeon House theme. The exposed pipe work and old fashioned light bulbs work really well with the oily green paint. The windows let in loads of light which makes the place very comfortable to sit in but not too bright. The staff were lovely, very friendly and attentive. Overall, it's a lovely restaurant and I'm definitely demanding to come here each time I'm home! read more

The Pigeon House appears to be a small side-street restaurant outside of Dublin where one would expect a casual meal, yet the food is surprisingly beautiful and carefully made. The flavors in our dishes were so interesting. We had the golden beetroot and sea bream dishes, and both were delicious. The vegetables were wonderful and left me feeling good about what I had just eaten. It's not always easy to find a filling, savory vegetable dish, but The Pigeon House hit the mark. read more

I've been here a good few times. It's a great new addition to Vernon Avenue, seems to be the place to go for Sunday Brunch as it runs all day and they do specials on their glasses of processo ;) Each time I've been here there has been a different menu, which is great to see. The food is excellent quality and each time I've been so varied, from a duck salad to a chicken dish and last time a burger, all excellent. They have a super outdoor area also, which is lovely to sit out when it's not too cold or raining, but they do have it heated! It's good value, the staff are friendly and they service is good, topped with great company, it's a great afternoon out! read more

Making the most of the good weather during the last bank holiday weekend we decided to walk out to clontarf and called in here for lunch/brunch. Being vegan your choices are always limited to begin with,and I hadn't rung ahead but seeing mushrooms on sourdough toast on the menu I thought I was sorted,unfortunately they were cooked in cream! There was a duck and quinoa salad which I was told would be suitable minus the duck. The salad was nice,very fresh,summery (quinoa ,blood orange,pomegranates) and a very generous portion but after a few bites I found it very sweet,it definitely needs something else to balance the flavours. My boyfriend ordered the eggs shashuka which he said were "ok but I wouldn't order them again". Brunch is simply delicious! My parents and I went yesterday afternoon at 3ish , we had no booking but we were seated with no fuss. As you walk in, you instantly notice the cool decor of pipes on the walls and beautiful pictures of Clontarf. We were right on time for the Brunch menu. I ordered falafel hummus and bulgar salad my parents both ordered the steak and chips. When our dishes arrived they were excellently presented and looked delicious! My dish was like a rainbow of colours- which I loved! I began with the pitta bread which was on my plate and the hummus- I'm not a big hummus fan but this was absolutely divine! I licked my plate clean! The falafel was extremely filling and I felt fully satisfied after my meal. We didn't get desert but saying that - I wish we did! The cakes and pasties at the till looked amazing! I got a flat white and it tasted really good, it was really sweet I didn't even need my one cube of brown sugar! Overall, it is a great place and I look forward to heading back here! read more

Really liked this place! I would recommend it to anyone! Such a cute little hipster cafe just a few minutes from Clontarf beach. The staff were so friendly and the food was amazing! I was stuffed from their Sunday brunch menu. Very reasonable prices and I will be defiantly retuning here! read more

Popped down to this relatively new spot for some breakfast with my mother on a lovely sunny day. It was around 10am and the place was a bit quiet but that suited us fine. I had the full breakfast which was lovely and very large portion size. My mother had the shakshouka and toast. The food was gorgeous very tasty. I agree with previous poster regarding the decor which is tasteful and adds to a very pleasant atmosphere. One minor gripe was that the coffee is on the small side and we could've been topped up without extra charge. Will definitely be back for dinner. read more

Everything here was great. The decor, the service, and most importantly the food. They have a slight steam-punk/industrial revolution theme going on:-) Beef burger with onion relish, cheddar cheese and chips - very tender and moist burger, with delicious relish. My partner had a rocket salad, with pomegranate, couscous, chicken and a very tasty salad dressing. Came here on a Saturday morning (10:30 AM) and were seated immediently - wasn't so full at this time so there was no wait at all. There were lots of babies and families, so I'd say this place is kid-friendly enough. The brunch options are amazing, and if you're not one for brunch, there's a few lunch-like items scattered in there. I ended up going for the scrambled eggs with chorizo on toast - I'm so happy with my choice. Next time I'll have to try out the pancakes. Great little find in Clontarf near to the water. Lovey terrace with outside seating but equally the interior is beautiful. We went for brunch and tried almost everything on the menu and weren't disappointed, except for the shakshooka because the eggs were a little too cooked. The menu is varied, you can find a full Irish breakfast, pancakes and bacon, avocado toast etc. Cocktail choice is great and prices are reasonable. They also have take away coffee and I didn't try them, but a selection of baked goods which looked really good. read more

This place was recommended by our bartender at the baths at Clontarf. We were in Ireland for 8 days and went to the pigeon house twice. It was really good, the bread with fresh jam is fantastic and the yogurt with fresh berries and granola is what I would totally come back for. read more

My husband and I came here for lunch after enjoying a beautiful walk along the promenade. The restaurant is lovely and they were very busy but managed to seat us right away. I look forward to the weekend so I can go to the pigeon house for some brunch! Brunch runs from 10am-4pm Saturday and Sunday, by far the nicest little restaurant around! The decor is quirky but simply it had a nice vibe about it. Staff are so pleasant and helpful. The food is AMAZING. They offer a wide range of food on the Brunch menu from a full breakfast, pancakes and bacon (which are unbelievable) to steak and fish. Not very welcoming ! We were 15 mins late - as we could not find parking, arrived to be informed our table was gone, smelled like a greasy spoon, eventually we ended up with a table beside the loos, not impressed- menu very limited - ordered main course had a look at it when it eventually arrived - then asked for the bill ( even though we did not eat anything) nobody cared. Never ever going back. Bad experiences all round, we are not the only ones!! Unfortunately had to give it a 1 star otherwise my review would not be written zero stars realistically!! read more
