The class setting is smaller so it feels more intimate. Nobody makes you feel awkward too if you have no idea what you're doing. Sometimes it can go a bit fast but the coaches do demo the exercises. I like this place a lot for reformer Pilates :)

It is very intense and the megaformer takes a lot of care to not get hurt. Overall a great workout! The studio is pretty big and roomy. Loved the aesthetic and mirrors everywhere. Very clean. Parking was annoying because you are at LBX. I'd recommend arriving at least 15 mins early. Overall, a cool workout but not for me and would not recommend for beginners.

If you are new to Pilates take the Reformer Essentials to get your footing and learn the basics. For the more intermediate to advanced I highly recommend Reformer Mix with instructor Chelsea. With Chelsea I experience a full body workout with different routines every week using all of the equipment . I have truly stepped up my pilates game with Chelsea. The Reformer Sculpt class is also a excellent option for an advanced class that does exactly what the class title says. Instructor/owner Eden is my fave for Sculpt. The studio offers yoga classes and these have been a game changer. Instructor Brooke is an amazing yoga + pilates instructor who is down to earth and very encouraging. Instructor Consuelo is peaceful and intentional with Gentle Yoga Slow Flow for a more easy and meditative flow. If you're in or near Long Beach check out the studio. She did a great job showing me the ropes and setting me up for future classes. From there, Crystal very patiently worked with my schedule to find classes that I would fit in with as a beginner. Beyond that, she helped ease my nerves about being a newcomer and helped me feel really welcomed. Most of my classes have been with Aubre who has been nothing short of amazing. She tailors each class after what we need and she never misses! Aubre makes me feel welcomed and I've learned a lot about my body from attending her sessions. She's very good at ensuring we have the correct posture, preventing injuries in the long run. I appreciate her knowledge and how she shows it in her instruction. Eveline and Janet are also great. Eveline's classes are very informative and she does a great job creating a comfortable environment for everyone. Janet is very sweet and took the time to make sure I was doing okay during class. Her care was genuine and I'll never forget her kindness! After struggling with being motivated to exercise, I saw an ad on IG about a free intro class. Since the video had people using a machine (reformer), I thought I could do this more than yoga which is more unsupported. Also, I've tried at home vids before and I felt that I did not know the correct forms bec I did not have an instructor to notice and correct my positions. What encouraged me to try it out was after I filled out the free intro class form online, the person who called me seemed so nice and competent, even asking about any physical challenges I may have. At this point esp with a free class, there was no reason for me not to try it out! Bec of the person who called me, I felt they would understand such as if I had a hard time, etc. When I did the intro class with Mildraide (who soon became one of my favorites), I was shaking with some of the exercises, but she did not make me feel like a failure. She also greeted me with a genuine welcoming kind smile, so even if she has more of a drilling style, I did not feel intimidated. I left still pondering if I should do it, but what sold me was from that first class, I felt I could stand up taller, my limbs were more flexible, and I had a spring on my step. I am so glad one of their staff members, Cameron, convinced me because I have become healthier from doing pilates and always encourage my friends to try. This review is also for one of my other favorite instructors, Yulia, who's classically trained in pilates. Ever since I started taking her classes, I saw a big difference in the mirror and pictures and I am not so bloated and my shape is more defined. Honestly, that alone will make me keep on going, but I love the stress release and boost I get from exercising. I have since upgraded to 8 classes per month because my body started to crave the exercise. I almost want to gatekeep Yulia's class cause I never want to have to be on a waitlist, but I hope she will work at this location for a very long time. I since moved up to her level 1.5 bec I know it's appropriate to the level and won't leave me discouraged or incapable. She's very professional and never humiliates. When I enter the Axis space I am welcomed by high ceilings, clean environment and many different workout equipment from Pilates to Gyrotonics. It is such a sweet space and both Karen, Chris & Fabi are so welcoming. Karen immediately assesses what my body needs and we begin my workout. I feel rejuvenated, younger and mostly full of energy after my hour workout. I find that my body craves these movements and my body feels renewed. An hour with Karen twice a week and I know my body is standing taller, I am more flexible and I am much more in touch with the movement of my body. It is an energy uplifter and I am so grateful to have Gyrotonics as a part of my exercise routine.

Most instructors are talented not only in their practice but in teaching their students. I learn and follow best by seeing a demonstration not just listening to a lecture. I had an instructor that just used the mic to give directions without showing us. One class resembled a karaoke session which was fun the first couple songs but it was dark and I couldn't see beyond the bodies next to me (they're closer than you think btw). I wasn't sure if I was using the correct form, where the instructor was, or what we were supposed to be doing. Fine for the advanced yogis but leaving us beginners lost. Overall I enjoy attending most classes here. A big issue is it's so crowded. During class you're almost on top of each other so much so that they have to stagger who bends where. The walkways get so congested and I didn't even take a chance with the locker rooms bc the people in there looked like sardines. I see so many studios other than Ra popping up left and right that it would probably benefit them to open up more locations.

I also found that other studios also require members to book classes on an app as they attend, and charge a fee for no shows, it's a norm. They have Sunday classes, some don't, that is what swayed me.
