The Pineapple Hut on Folly Beach is such a fun little treat spot! We got the pineapple whip served in a half pineapple with fresh pineapple chunks, and it was so worth it. It was juicy, refreshing, and absolutely delicious--the perfect beach day dessert. The presentation is super cute too, which makes it even more fun to enjoy (and very Instagram-worthy). Knocking off one star just because it's a bit of a splurge price-wise, but overall, totally worth it for a sweet tropical treat. Definitely recommend stopping by if you're in the area!

I kept seeing people walking around with a pineapple in their hand, and I knew I had to get one too. Not only was it super aesthetic, but it was also so good! It reminded me of a Dole Whip like creamy, a little tart, and just the right amount of sweetness. Definitely a refreshing treat, especially in this heat. 10/10 would get again!

The Pineapple Hut is a small chain of dairy free soft serve huts that opened in Folly Beach, South Carolina in 2006. It was founded by Cody Brooks. With a longtime dream to have his own business, Brooks decided to start one when the opportunity presented itself. He and his wife spent a lot of time in Folly Beach, so they decided to start a business that specialized in soft serve ice cream treats that are dairy-free, gluten-free, cholesterol-free, low-fat, low-calorie, and vegan. The star of the show is 'Pineapple Whip' (better known to visitors to Walt Disney World as 'Dole Whip'), but other flavors such as vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, cherry, orange, raspberry, watermelon, mango, pomegranate, cranberry, and even pumpkin are available on a rotating basis. The Folly Beach location is a food trailer permanently parked at an empty lot at the corner of Center Street and W Eerie Avenue. A second location opened in Downtown Charleston in 2022, while a third (the first brick & mortar location) opened in Myrtle Beach in 2024. My family and I visited the original Pineapple Hut location in Folly Beach this past summer while we were visiting family in town. A week earlier, we had been in Walt Disney World. We were telling our cousins all about Dole Whip, which they had never heard of. We went on Yelp to see if there was anywhere that sells Dole Whip (or something pretty close) in the Charleston Area, and lo and behold we discovered the Pineapple Hut. We visited one afternoon for a cold treat after spending the morning at the beach. The two flavors available that day were pineapple and chocolate. My wife and I ordered and shared the "Paradise Whip" (pineapple whip served inside of a fresh pineapple with pineapple chunks at the base). It was phenomenal! It tasted just as good as the authentic Disney Dole Whip, but the presentation was much fancier! Our cousins opted for a cup of Pineapple-Chocolate Swirl with Sprinkles. We are so happy that we discovered the Pineapple Hut and highly recommend them!

My boyfriend and I got a Paradise Whip to share, which was amazing! The soft serve was dairy-free and came served in a fresh pineapple with pineapple chunks at the bottom. It was SO refreshing and had the perfect level of sweetness. We got some tajin on the side because we weren't sure about the combination, but it was incredible. Highly recommend trying this, if you like a little bit of zest/spice! The girl at the counter was super friendly and they had the cutest merch. Would happily return!
Want a refreshing dessert by the beach?! You have found the spot! If you want a dessert vegan, low fat, dairy free, gluten free, and cholesterol free.... This is the dessert that satisfy all those criteria! There are many different styles of pineapple whip you can get. I got a regular and it was perfect size! The staff was super nice and friendly! There are no sitting areas nearby so you can grab and walk around the area. Would highly recommend!
I mean its alright ... compared to the Dole Plantation in Hawaii.... Nothing to write home about.... Thanks for the info Cody .. but im pretty sure the soft serve u have does not either; its WHITE.... U may put real chunks of pineapple alongside of the pineapple flavored soft serve which is different from the dole pineapple stand i went to; that did in fact put real pineapple in it ... i saw them annnnd it was golden yellow ... but hey no worries ... i saw u on tik tok so ur doin u !!! I love that it's vegan and the prices are great! I highly recommend sharing a large with someone else. They have pineapple whip and a rotating special flavor - I've gotten raspberry and watermelon, and they're both totally refreshing and delicious. It's basically soft serve but it feels lighter because it's dairy free (I think they use coconut oil). The little hut is adorable, and the same woman is usually working the hut on weekends. I've always gotten friendly, quick service!
This came highly recommended, so I was very excited to stop by! Such a simple concept, but holy smokes was it tasty. Super light and refreshing, with a couple different styles to choose from. Love that you can add toppings like strawberry sauce or coconut flakes to name a few. Perfect location, and in the cutest little set up. And the gal that served us was super sweet as well! I ordered the regular and it definitely hit the spot after being at the beach all day. It was delicious! I took a star off because the girl working was talking about personal drama on the phone. She did hang up once I came to the window to order but this was my first time here and it would've been nice to be warmly greeted/recommended some items. read more

I get so excited when I see the little window open on this establishment! Not only is it vegan (gluten and dairy free) but it's beautifully delicious!!! Tastes like Disney and makes any day with one as a treat feel like summer! If you e never had one before ... I recommend trying the straight up pineapple. They have options as a float (with pineapple juice), chunky (with pineapple chunks), or this beauty here--- paradise (a mixture of the two). Additionally, you can swirl the flavor of the day with it ... Today it was Cherry... And, cherry is favorite (a lighter version of a screwball front he ice cream trucks back in the day...)! read more
This truck offers pineapple-based dairy-free desserts. There is usually a line despite other desserts in the area. I took the option to get my swirl mixed with chunks of fresh pineapple, which was a good decision. The unmistakable tang makes for a beachy experience. It does melt quickly so you'll be lucky to actually make it to the beach with any dessert still frozen. There were some sauces and sprinkles available, but they were mostly high-fructose corn syrup and didn't impress me. It seemed like there might be a card surcharge, and it was a beachy kind of price, but it's a good option to refresh on the way to or from the beach. read more
Being dairy-free, I don't often get to enjoy ice cream when on vacation, so I was extremely excited when we found Pineapple Hut! The pineapple soft serve here is AMAZING! I got a cup each day of our Folly Beach trip and would plan another trip to the area just to get more if I could! read more

Don't let the line detour you from stopping at this place! The Dole Whip is so good, but they also have mango whip too! All of the fixins' are available to spice up your sweet treat if you wish (Tajin, coconut, sprinkles). Don't forget to grab a punchcard- because you'll definitely be back!! read more

SO GOOD! Vegan fruity soft serve. Pomegranate was a special on the day we went and it was great. The pineapple is still my favorite though. The tajín is a must if you like a little spice with your fruit. Cute little "hut" (one in chs, one in FB.) You can even get it in a real pineapple. read more

A little far from where I live but so so worth it!! One of the very few, if not only spot that sells pineapple whip!! It's a food truck located on the main road. And of course they only sell one thing: pineapple whip! But there are some varieties that you can order. I got the 'chunky whip' which has chunks of pineapple in it. Super creamy texture and the pineapple chunks were very sweet! Fast service, and the perfect snack to take it to the beach! read more

This food truck is parked right on Center Street serving only one item: pineapple whip. It is delicious! We stopped by twice on our long weekend at Folly Beach. There is just one person working so sometimes the line gets long, but it is worth it. read more

This was super yum! What a great treat on this warm day. Only disappointment was the float (juice and pineapple chunks) that was added in the pineapple, was stale. By the time I reached that stage I was full anyway.. so wasn't keen on eating it. I did half and half with pineapple and raspberry - it was delish! read more

A cute food truck off the main road to Folly Beach. $5 for a regular, $6 for a large....why not pay the dollar?! We are from out of town and wanted to see what the hype was about. We ordered a large watermelon and pineapple swirl (a family 9( 5 ordered it ahead of us). Our overall impression is that it's too sweet, like artificially pineapple and watermelon flavored. Good size for soft serve near the beach though. read more
