This place is tucked away on a side road from the main street, but is still pretty conveniently located. Inside is clean, but there are random boxes stacked everywhere - it seems like storage space is a bit lacking. I tried a build-your-own poke bowl - I had their salmon and tuna with a bunch of mix-ins / toppings. The fish was decent quality, the toppings options were pretty good and varied, but there was a limit as to how many toppings you could add. Overall, I felt like the quality of the food was not bad, but didn't blow me away either. The flavors were pretty good, and the portion size was sufficient for a meal, but did not overly stuff me. The service was very friendly and quick - it was not very busy when we got there on a weekend evening, so we got our food in a timely manner. read more

The staff is super friendly and they have even stayed open during hurricane lockdowns for the downtown residents. The poke bowl is my personal favorite and you can either choose from a preexisting bowls or you can create your own. I'm not sure why people open restaurants just to make them look and operate like a teenagers bedroom. I love poke, but I don't accept substandard and bland meals that cost. Turns out you don't even order a meal here. You just scribble what you want on a note, and they add it up into the machine. I got a pretty regular bowl with minimal sides because you're limited at every single turn. The food wasn't anything spectacular. I didn't finish the half hearted bowl and left to get a better lunch down the street. The interior is just boxes of stuff stacked everywhere, so it feels very cluttered to exist in the space. I think this place has the BEST poke salad/bowl in Charleston for so many reasons: 1. the ingredients are fresh 2. they have a wide selection of vegetables/toppings 3. the seawood tastes fresh and not like the normal fishy seawood taste that you often get 4. the place is clean and doesn't smell like bleach when you walk in (unlike some Poke Bros shops) 5. they slice the avocado for you so that you aren't trying to cut up a half avocado with chopsticks 6. I have found my new "go to" healthy option when I'm downtown. Poké Tea House is just fantastic. You can build your own bowl or choose from the many options already put together on the board. They make it very easy to order and to choose your own. You basically just check boxes and therefore be as healthy as you choose. The ingredients are so fresh and healthy. Delicious. Love it. It's clean fresh and the staff are super helpful. Parking is a breeze, right across the street in front of an apartment complex. I placed a to-go order of a poke salad (mixed greens) with shrimp and some other veggies and fruits. I was so disappointed to see that the shrimp were not cooked properly. They were grayish-pink and completely translucent. Cooked shrimp should be bright pink and opaque. Mmmm poke is my new obsession. I am so crazy about ahi tuna I honestly think I could eat a poke bowl for every meal for the rest of my life. While parking is confusing and non-existent I took my chance to be quick from the old Bi-Lo shopping center which worked even though Poke Tea House has a sign inside asking customers not to park there or you'll get booted. No boot for me, as I was in and out in about 3 minutes! The set-up is Chipotle style where the ingredients are already prepped and making the meal is more of an assembly line. I decided to build my own bowl and grabbed a sheet to check off the items I wanted in my bowl. I included ahi tuna, spicy tuna, cucumber, avocado, sweet onion, mango, and traditional poke sauce on a mixed greens base. Choosing a sauce was the only difficult part for me because I honestly don't know the difference between the sauces. Flavors were all fresh and delicious and I loved every bite. This poke place was so delicious! The bowl was filling but not heavy, and their options were plenty and fresh. I opted to build my own bowl and got sushi rice, seared tuna (best decision ever), cucumber, avo, crab salad, mango, cilantro, sriracha mayo, and a little ponzu sauce (and the freebie toppings of crispy onions and sesame seeds). I was planning on saving some for later but nope! I ate it all in one sitting. The only downside to this place is that they don't have a location in my hometown. Staff was friendly, too! Much to my surprise, my friend found a 2-in-1 poke/boba spot, Poke Tea House, right in Charleston. This wouldn't seem out of place in the Bay Area, but who woulda thunk there'd be this sort of combo in Charleston? So neat. I wasn't in the mood for creating my own lunch bowl, so I opted for the Hawaiian Poke Bowl. The pricing was on par with the portions and with the amount of fish I got. I ordered a hot green tea as well. Way cheaper than Starbucks ($2.50) and it came in a big cup and gosh, it was strong! I loved the cute little succulent plants they had inside as well as the replica white Eames style chairs. There's also a good amount of natural lighting in there so it seems like a good place to study/ready/hang out. read more

Is Poké Tea House the best Poké place I've ever been to in my life? Yes, actually it's so absolutely amazing that I find myself never wanting to leave. As you enter this small establishment in downtown Charleston, greeted by friendly staff members, make your way to the Poké bar to eye all of the tasty ingredients. Fill out the ordering slip which walks you through the options of packing your bowl with deliciousness. My favorite bowl thus far: brown rice, ahi tuna, jalapeño, mango, edamame, sriracha mayo, topped with avocado and spicy salmon. Mmm mmm! Make sure to get the optional fried onions or roasted seaweed as a free topping as well. Finally, you must try a bubble tea (I.e. flavored tea with toppings), they are heavenly. I've tried the blushing peach tea with lychee jelly and jasmine tea with lychee jelly and they're both fantastic. I'm working my way through the list of trying every flavor! So I liked the bubble tea so much, I came back 2 days in a row! Although, to be fair, my second visit was because I wanted to try the Poke Bowl so badly, it literally woke me up in the middle of the night (Ok, maybe that was my cat, but to be fair, his breath did smell like tuna). I've tried 2 different bubble teas, the passionfruit fruit tea with strawberry jellies and the honeydew milk tea (also with strawberry jellies). As you can see, I'm a big fan of the strawberry jellies. They have the consistency of something in between jello and a gummy bear, and I really enjoy the flavor, which is nice and sweet (without being cloying). The passionfruit tea was a bit overly sweet for my taste, but would've been very refreshing to sip on outside on a hot day. The honeydew milk tea is my go-to anywhere I go, and it seems like I'm the only person in the world who likes it (at least whenever I've shared my honeydew tea with people, they are generally not a fan). I loved Poke Tea House's honeydew milk tea; the color was bright green without looking fake/chemically enhanced, and the flavor was subtle but pleasant. I drank it way faster than I should have. The poke, being only my 3rd poke experience, was pretty fantastic. I built my own bowl with tuna, sushi rice, avocado, cucumber, cilantro, tomago (which I actually thought was masago, so I was VERY confused when there was an actual egg in my poke bowl. That's my bad.), spicy tuna (that's right, DOUBLE TUNA), seaweed, and their ponzu sauce. So I guess you could say that I took my favorite sushi roll, took it out of the seaweed wrap and dumped it (artfully) into a bowl. It was delicious. I'm not sure I breathed at all while I was eating it, because I just couldn't put it down. The rice is delightfully seasoned, and I love the complimentary fried onions, which offer a nice crunch. Anyway, I am a monster when it comes to what I'm capable of, consumption-wise. Back to the important matter at hand - the recommendation was to order the honeydew milk tea with passion fruit juice poppers. We were in Charleston again for the finish point of ARide2Remember 3-day charity bike ride and was looking forward to getting bobo tea like we normally do as a tradition. I looked on Yelp to see what had good ratings and was both surprised and amused when Poke Tea House appeared with our daughter's review. She used to live in Charleston and had blogged about different foods and places to eat at Charleston so after reading her review, we knew we needed to try it. Since Honey hadn't had lunch after his ride, it was perfect that there was poke here. He ordered a poke bowl that had sushi rice, salmon, seaweed, avocado, cucumber, pineapple and spicy salmon. It must have been build your own. He was talking with the staff and understood he had some food allergies which resulted in the order above. Because he needs to avoid dairy (allergy), we stayed away from the milk-based tea which tends to be delicious. He decided on passionfruit tea (since he never had it before) with boba. I debated about getting the coconut milk or the milk green tea but then thought it'd be good to have a non-milk based tea so my darling could try another flavor, so I chose lychee. The place is right off of Meeting Street; not large in terms of capacity size, though has tables and a very high ceiling giving it an open airy space to it. I love the simple clean decor. They have water dispenser right up front at the order counter, free wifi with password, and a counter with the condiments and eating utensils across from the counter near the door. Nice and clean, all of it (including the bathrooms). Yet what gives this a 5 stars is the quality of the food ingredients. Fresh!! The tea was very sweet, and the boba (tapioca balls) were fresh too. Passionfruit has the crunchy small seeds, kinda like you have some sand. The flavor was good though it was surprisingly too sweet for Honey who had ordered it but fortunately he had his sweetheart who loves sweets. My lychee was very tasty too and he ended up having more of that one, so good thing I ordered a nonmilk-based tea. We'd certainly return when we are back in Charleston! read more
