Soooooo good!! We were walking around king street and saw this couple with half a pineapple and a huge swirl of dole whip and we were like we HAVE to get that!! We had no clue where it was from but somehow randomly ran into the store walking back from the market. And boy were we happy we did! It hit the spot!! 10/10 this place is so yummy and honestly was reasonable price wise. Really wish they had a location in California where I live. read more

The Pineapple Hut has the best ice cream I have ever had in my entire life. As someone with medical issues who also has to live dairy free, finding desserts that I can actually enjoy without pain, discomfort, or guilt has always been incredibly difficult. This was the first time in my life that I was able to enjoy something sweet completely guilt free, and it honestly meant more to me than I can put into words. Not only was it absolutely delicious, but it gave me the chance to enjoy a treat that so many people take for granted. What made the experience even more special was Regan V., who helped me during my visit. She was the absolute sweetest person I encountered in all of Charleston. Her kindness, warmth, and genuine care made an already amazing experience unforgettable. I will recommend The Pineapple Hut everywhere I go. I'm in loveeeee! The quality, flavor, customer service, and overall experience are unmatched. I would gladly drive four hours one way just to come back again. The flavor was absolutely fantastic, so tasty and so fresh without being overly sweet! I thought the prices were extremely fair for the amount of ice cream given! I absolutely loved it. Only a block from the beach and located in a cute little area with a few other food trucks. We visited in May, so we were the only ones in line but I can imagine this place gets BUSY in the summer. I have been trying to make a stop at pineapple Hutt for the past couple years and I may be mistaken but I believe it used to have limited hours and was food truck so I was excited to see expanded hours and location! I definitely wasn't expecting it to be where it was but it's on the street running parallel to the city market. The line was long and the credit card machine was down so I had to get cash. However, the time I returned, it was up and running. I went with the peach and pineapple and it was good- peach tasted more on the artificial flavor but at least it's low calorie healthier choice! It is dairy free, vegan, gluten free, low calorie but honestly I'd have to say it looks better than it tastes. It's ice cream but it's not creamy- more so tastes like an icee but regardless, was refreshing and glad I finally had a chance to try it! read more

I've been hearing about this place for ages and finally got to try it today while visiting Folly - and it absolutely did not disappoint! I went with a regular pineapple and cherry swirl, and it was sooo good. On such a hot day, it was the perfect sweet treat to help cool me down. Honestly, I'd eat this every day if I could. I love pineapple so much that I came here twice during my visit to Charleston (in case you were wondering, yes, I was definitely the weird kid who liked pineapples on my pizza--and still do)! I was already sold on the pineapple whip alone but if you want to take it up a notice and upgrade, the Pineapple Float and Paradise Whip (basically a pineapple float IN a pineapple) will win you over either way. I couldn't bring myself to get the Paradise Whip since it comes in a huge portion, but I so would if I didn't come on a nearly full stomach on both occasions. There aren't a lot of non-dairy or lighter ice cream options nearby so this is the perfect refreshing treat if you need a lighter pick-me-up. It's a great spot with plenty of seating outside of a food hall in a super busy area to chill out. This town has many by-the-scoop ice cream shops but this is a great choice if you ever want something different! read more

My beloved Pineapple Hut! So light and refreshing, great pineapple flavor, and getting it IN the half pineapple with pineapple chunks at the bottom is for sure the way to go. It's a little cart/shop front and if you blink you might miss it, but it's so worth a visit while you're walking out and about downtown Charleston. If you are visiting Folly Beach, SC, this is the place to get a nice ice cream dessert! My husband and I stopped by while we were walking around the small downtown of Folly Beach. It was centrally located & easy to find. Even though 1 person was running the "hut", we were served and ready to go within 5-7 minutes during the afternoon rush. Really fun treat on a hot summer day, I truly appreciated that they had vegan options. Service was quick and when we went there was no line and it was clean and efficient. The only downside is that there is no where to sit. So you literally have a huge delicious treat and you're in the middle of downtown (looking at a shaded, fan cooled seating area next door for paying patrons only that you CANNOT access) and you're kind of stuck.) The perfect refreshing snack on a hot day! It's conveniently located in downtown Charleston, close to city market for a quick stop by but I do recommend also grabbing lunch or a drink while enjoying some live music as it's right outside of Port of Call Food and Beer Hall. There's an outdoor sitting area with a bar that had live music on a Saturday afternoon or additional tables inside. There's a few options on the menu with various combos of pineapple goodness and topping options but I opted for the traditional. It's only an extra dollar for the large size and reasonably priced at $6! It was just around the corner from our hotel so we went twice and absolutely loved it! read more

Leaving Folly Beach, we stopped to The Pineapple Hut for a treat on the way home. First time having them, as recommended by one of my friends in the group. I love all things pineapple (except on pizza), so I had to try this. I ordered their Pineapple Float, which has pineapple juice in the bottom, then their pineapple whip on the top of the cup. The whip is a dairy free soft serve. It was very light and not very sweet. Had a straw for the juice, so I tasted that prior to anything melting in it. The juice wasn't cold, which was disappointing. I think cold Pineapple juice would've made it excellent. It was a refreshing dessert. They have a few toppings that you can add yourself. We placed our order around 6:50 PM. The man running the truck (the only one working) even commented about how slow business was. Despite that, by 7:40 we still hadn't gotten our food though several people who ordered after us had already been served. When my boyfriend checked, the guy said there was still "one person ahead of us" and that he'd bring the food over when ready. Around 8:00 PM over an hour later he finally came out with two sandwiches. But instead of what we ordered (one Classic and one Chicken Bacon Ranch), he handed us two Classics. When my boyfriend asked if one of them was ours, he said yes, but then immediately walked over and gave one of the sandwiches to another couple waiting. It seemed clear that he had completely forgotten about our order and just tried to hand us someone else's food. At that point, we were left with just one correct sandwich after waiting more than an hour. He told us he'd fix it quickly, and about five minutes later brought out the Chicken Bacon Ranch we had originally ordered. Earlier, he had offered us a refund because of the long wait, but when we asked about it after getting the corrected order, he became defensive and irate. He told us things like: "If you were in a restaurant you'd wait 30 minutes," (we had waited over an hour). and "Why would I refund you, you seem to be enjoying that sandwich just fine," (while we were sharing one sandwich because we were starving). He also tried to guilt us by explaining that he pays for everything himself and even asked for "compensation" despite the fact I had already tipped him 20% when we first ordered. Instead of apologizing, he raised his voice across the bar, made us feel like we were the problem, and then walked away mid-conversation. As someone who works in food and beverage, I know mistakes happen but the way you handle them is what defines good service. This was the exact opposite: poor organization, extremely long wait, wrong order, broken promises of a refund, and an worker who treated us rudely instead of professionally.
