This is such a cute little coffee shop. I love the porch and it's very cute on the inside too with lots of room to sit. The lady working was extremely nice and we really enjoyed our ice cream. Nothing too crazy.

We walked here after eating at a nearby restaurant. We were warmly greeted and the staff was friendly. We enjoyed a mint ice cream and an affogato. There is plenty of seating inside and out. The bathroom was clean. We walked to a nearby park to finish our icecream and let our little one play. Would definitely return!

Gluten free cone with chocolate and champagne sorbet ice cream, with whipped cream and cherry on top. It was super tasty!!!

Delicious ice cream - the sorbets - champagne and chocolate are super tasty. Chocolate is made in house! Had chocolate chunks; delicious!!! Gluten free waffle cones available which blew me away - this is so rare! Found out that all the ingredients they use are natural and organic. And the custard making machine was developed by the founder. This place is a Charleston institution - you have to visit if you're in Charleston! They have a location at Sullivan's Island, too - both places have super friendly staff!!!

Heading to the beach to listen to the waves, Mrs. K. decided that we were going to stop for ice cream. Republic fit the bill and not only still open on a Saturday night during the offseason, they have excellent ice cream! Double chocolate chip for her, something with peanut butter for me. Delicious, creamy, served at just the right temperature to be fabulous and not drippy. When it's busy, their parking situation is going to be a challenge. You might end up dropping someone off while you circle the streets until you pick them back up again! [Review 256 of 2024 - 1120 in South Carolina - 21291 overall.]

Cute little ice cream shop by the beach, perfect for a sweet treat after a day in the sun! I had the raspberry cream flavor with hot fudge and it was the perfect mix of fruity and chocolately. My boyfriend had the root beer float and thought it was tasty as well, and though it was $11, they gave you a ton of ice cream. Only complaint is I wish they didn't have the wood spoons!!

The perfect sweet treat on Sullivans Island! I'm an ice cream lover, and Republic did not disappoint. Wish I could give them an extra star because they are extremely allergy friendly, especially in regards to gluten. Each flavor is gluten free, and they even have gluten free waffle cones! I had the cherry vanilla and it was DELICIOUS, and had real dark cherries in it.

Popped in to beat the heat and let evening beach traffic die down. This is small ice cream shop, that you should really check out if you are in the area. There are plenty different flavors to try, and also milkshake options. I went with their coffee shake because i needed a little pick me up and it really hit the spot.

After lunch at the Obstinate Daughter we decided to pull in to Republic and get a cone -what is summer for anyway? Loved chatting with the young man working and he gave very good recommendations regarding my flavor request. The ice cream is very creamy and full of flavor. Price of a cone is pricey, but it was very good and we are supporting local so I did not feel that to be a deterrent.

This place was so good, we came here twice in 3 days! It has the delightfully familiar ambiance of an ice cream shop in a beach town- small but cozy, right on the street of other restaurants you can walk here from. The service workers were polite and always ready to provide you with your scoops or shakes! First, I got the cookies and cream with a waffle cone, and next I got the mint chocolate chip. Both were so good, I couldn't pick a favorite! The waffle cone in particular was soooo good! Better than any waffle cone I've ever had. It was not too crunchy and not too soft- just right! My only complaint was the lack of seating here. There were only a couple chairs inside, one picnic table outside, and two small tables outside. If you come with more than one or two other people, expect to stand around outside and eat, because there likely won't be any seats available. Also, some sorbet flavors on the menu were out, which was a shame because they looked tasty. Overall though, I would definitely recommend this ice cream shop!

Flavorless icecream. Overpriced for what you get. Got the pecan flavor and had to throw it out.

Didn't like their ice cream but their root beer sodas were so good. I would go back but not for their ice cream, just the soda

We noticed that both of our orders came in a smaller 12 ounce size rather than the larger 16 ounce that we ordered. We were super pleased with their customer service, and even more so that we ended up with full tummies of 24 ounces of dessert! We had the Affogato and Twix, and the Affogato was our favorite. It's coffee, chocolate, and vanilla with brownie bits. We also loved that the staff came over to our table to check on us and chatted, which was sweet and personable. The ambience was quiet and clean inside too. Vampire Penguin is our absolute favorite, and they made our Mother's Day eating adventure very special.

They are handmade in North Charleston and sold at several restaurants around the low country. The first time I ever tried one was from a food cart at the Charleston farmers market and I've been hooked ever since! They have different seasonal flavors because all of their ingredients are locally sourced from the milk to the berries. My favorite I have ever tried is their strawberry though a tried and true is the chocolate, it is so creamy! The texture of the sandwiches are unique and what keeps bringing me back over and over. The sandwich part is almost a little gritty but still soft and chewy, almost as if it were made from almond meal though it is not. This past sandwich I got was blueberry Cheri and though good it was not as flavorful as others I've had. I could see where they were going by adding chamomile but it just wasn't enough. I would recommend a different flavor to try, though if they were to have the sandwich part lemon flavored with blueberry ice cream it would be amazing! Overall if you see a restaurant or shop selling these pick one up. Though they are a bit pricy at $4-5 they are totally worth it!
