On September1st while out of town, I received a call from a staff member of Dogtopia located at…read more14885 Persistence Drive in Woodbridge Virginia,(703) 278-2045 informing me that my dog Cindy while playing with another dog, was attacked by a dog that was behind her. This other dog turned around and latched on to my dog Cindy, inflicting bodily harm on Cindy that required them to take her to an emergency room for treatment. After being sedated, Cindy required stitches to her left ear, her throat, chest and insertion of a pen rose drain to the left side of neck. Various bites located on top of her head and body were flushed with an antiseptic solution to prevent infection. Cindy required a second visit to urgent care due to copious drainage from the pen rose drain, incurring additional costs. I have spoken to the manager Susan who was supposed to be either getting back to me, or her boss Steven was supposed to call me back. I have not heard back from either one. Cindy is scheduled for a third visit for follow up and removal of her sutures on September 22, 2025. Despite what it says in a signed contract, Red Barn Dog ops south LLC d/b/a Dogtopia of Woodbridge, is refusing to cover any of the costs associated with this incident, that my dog did not initiate. If you choose to board your pet here be forewarned, they are not reputable, and do not abide by their own contract.

He also has a bit of separation anxiety that soon dispels if he is brought into the group. However, the workers never coaxed him into the room with the other dogs away from the door. I could almost never see him on the camera because he was always at the door. When I asked about it, I was told that he was at the door, but they never offered to engage with him to feel comfortable moving into the room where the other dogs were playing. In addition, he started using the bathroom inside my apartment despite being completely potty trained. And he smelled like dog urine. I had to bathe him after every 2nd visit although I could have done it after every visit. The last day he attended, he seemed completely shell-shocked. I don't know what happened, but he behaved in a dazed manner that I have never seen from him. It scared me so I never took him back. My dog is so gentle and sweet that he could have really enjoyed the socialization if the workers had made an attempt to engage with him.

Unfortunately, my experience with Jennifer completely changed that. She trimmed my dog's nails today, and when I asked questions because I'm used to the nails being clipped and then dremeled, I was immediately treated as if I was being "hostile", while being told I was being hostile. She then stated, "I'm not doing this today," simply because I had questions about my dog's care. She then proceeded to talk about me loudly in the back with another short haired employee as I was talking to the stand in manager while Chelsea is out. This was appalling and all done in front of my 5 year old son. Disgusting behavior. As a pet owner who treats their dogs like family, asking questions should be completely normal and welcomed. I asked for her name so I could speak with Chelsea later, and when I forgot it and asked again while she handed me my receipt, she became snarky and then proceeded to yell at me. I'm sharing this because I would never want another customer to feel the way I did today. The rest of the staff and my previous experiences have been wonderful, but I would personally not recommend seeing Jennifer, especially if you're someone who is attentive to your pet's care and likes to ask questions.

After 2 hrs. of waiting, we decided to leave. Since i wrote down my number, i was expecting a call to atleast ask if we are still around. No call came. Staff lacks in customer service for "new customers". It was a Saturday and i know they might be busy, but kindly tell the customers that they cannot do walk-ins due to prioritizing customers who has made the whole enchilada grooming and only when they are done with them will be the only time they can assist on walk-in nail cutting. Bad first time experience since we are a regular customer of the store. We decided to "give it a try" and maybe if they did good, we will take our other 4 dogs to them. We were sitting by the door bench and all of the staff at one point, passed us and none acknowledged our presence or at least ask, what we are there for. Lady at the counter doesn't even want to make eye contact with me when i was standing by the window.

Maria is working with just one dog --yours--from start to finish--so it's way less stress for your baby. I should also mention that Maria is the best, kindest, most competent dog groomer in the DMV. Full stop. If you have a small dog, don't even *think* about going anywhere else! Not only will your furbaby be gorgeously groomed, you will have the peace of mind of knowing he is being cared for by 1) someone who genuinely loves dogs, and 2) is also incredibly talented and experienced.
