This little park is easily walking distance from the new educational center being built on a 10 acre parcel of land that is directly on the newly acquired Pleasure House Point Park. Located on a dead end cul de sac makes a safe place for children where there is no heavy traffic. Parking is on the road or on the side with designated parking spots. You can see families walking their dogs, people fishing in the pond or just hanging in the park. I like that the park is covered with some trees and provides shade from the sun. If you sit on the right bench you can see the bay in the distance and boats going by. They have covered picnic tables if you wanted to pack a lunch and hang for awhile!

From my home in Virginia Beach it was around an hour without much traffic. I planned this trip on a day that my kids had off school. Unfortunately we got a much later start then I hoped and was unable to cover all of the park. Our adventure started at the Smithfield Station entrance on a sunny mid 60's afternoon in November. Immediately your taken with the beauty of the area. Not to mention Fall in Virginia made this a special day with the foliage unfolding right before our eyes. We took the trail up to Windsor Castle and explored the exterior of the old barns and even the house thanks to a super nice City of Smithfield employee in the home. I snapped some pics of the house and was surprised to find out it is to be sold off by the city to a private party. The structure has really terrific bones, but is in need of a few million to renovate. What was more shocking is the antiques that were located in the non climate controlled home. A pre Civil War piano was the most noticeable YIKES! The area to be sold off includes all the barns and vineyard. Before we headed into Smithfield for a tour we enjoyed going down to the water at a overlook area. The scenery is very stunning and on a warm Fall day was even better. What was very disappointing was the amount of trash every where just below where we were standing. Lots of beer cans, bottles and debris in this beautiful marsh. Trash was also on the decking area with a trash can just feet away. We cleaned up the trash on the deck before leaving. The city, or a volunteer effort needs to get this cleaned up. Most certainly we need another trip back to this park to take in all of what is offered. I hope the next time we return a serious clean up effort has taken place. I mentioned. It is also quite shocking that Smithfield is selling off such a treasure in Windsor Castle. I am unaware of the budget constraints, or politics of Smithfield to really say more than what I have mentioned. On this visit we only scratched the surface of this stunning recreational area. Beautiful town, beautiful park and a must area to check out.

So far so good!…read more Overall this place was nice to have a small gathering. Last Saturday, my husband and I attended a sweet 16 party with 75 guests maybe less. There were about eight tables of eight so what's that 64 and then there was also a few people walking around. Overall, the dining space was a bit tight when it was time to get up and go towards the area where the food was being served and maneuver during the event. Nevertheless it was still manageable as well as functional but if I had to redo the event I wouldn't put as many tables down just so guests could move around freely without being constricted. The parking was plentiful didn't notice any issues. I didn't use the restroom but I do believe there is a restroom that's on site. I didn't walk around inside of the building so I don't know if there is an active Kitchen in there rather it be fully equipped or not but the people that I know that hosted the sweet 16 party I know they usually have everything from A to Z and I didn't hear any complaining from them. As a result, if you're looking for a small space to host an event, a baby shower or just a gathering where you sit down or stand up definitely inquire. From the looks of this place you could bring in all your Decor as well as serve your own food it wasn't a party where alcohol was needed so I'm not sure how that works. This was my first time here to experience this event venue. However this place has been many businesses prior but hopefully this one is here to stay. Have fun and enjoy life :)

Everyone is friendly. I will play with the children next time we come. It looks like fun to me.

I'm sure this helps control impulses of buying bad fast food. Fit Bar has got you covered! They offer several diverse fitness classes from Zumba to sexy chair fitness to specialized boot camps. They even offer classes for children too! Like I said this place is live...all the way live!! Investing your time and cost into this small business I'm sure is worth it. If you're discouraged from the large gyms or even intimated by the super fit or lack there of but just feel a certain way at the mega fitness centers, well have no fear Fit Bar is here to alleviate all that anxiety. They welcome everyone and since the grand opening, I've heard of only good things and high spirits are definitely present here!! They have also been featured at community events and I've learned they are expanding the brand and venturing into other avenues. I had never had a compliant about this center. The staff and facility are always in tact. I visited here last Saturday for their annual Lunch with Santa! The event started promptly at 11am and ended promptly a few minutes before 1pm. The City of Suffolk opens there doors to Northern Shores Recreation for a few hours of free fun for the kids. If adults want to participate (eat lunch) they are asked to pay $5 in advance (registration required). But I found out that the in advance registration is only to get a rough estimate of attendees. As a result, if you do not register prior to the event, there is certainly opportunity to register once you arrive. While adults are responsible to pay $5, children are asked to bring an unwrapped toy for a boy or girl to place under the Christmas tree. Now how awesome is that!! So once the adult pays and the child brings the toy...a day of fun begins. During this event you will experience: bounce houses, cotton candy, popcorn, pictures with Santa and Mrs. Claus, holiday crafts, coloring, face painting, custom balloons, lunch from Chic Fil A and raffles drawn throughout the event. Now I love a great children's event and I must say Northern Shores has it put together very well!! This was my 2nd year attending and I plan to attend until my 7 yr old daughter tells me she's too old to go. Children ranged from toddlers to 11 years old. And even if your child isn't into Santa it's still a great time for a worthy cause!! I would definitely recommend you mark your calendar for the first Saturday in Decemeber 2015 (when the event usually takes place). You will definitely not be disappointed a Saturday of fun well spent... Also...the picture quality is great as well. If you wish to bring your own camera to take the picture that is totally acceptable! Have fun :)
