We saw this place on YELP! and had to try it. I can say the cheese sticks are some of the best I have ever had. They were ooey-gooey, and melty, and well seasoned. The cheesy breadsticks were too! They were filled with cheese, and delightful! The pizza however, I found to be lackluster. For my personal taste, it was too much bread, and could stand to be thinner. There was not much flavor to the sauce, and they pizza relied upon an "herb" crust, where the herbs were burnt. They smell kinda permeated the restaurant. The toppings (cheeseburger pizza) while very cheesy, were very bland and underseasoned. We went here today the pickup a chef's salad for lunch. If you haven't had their chef's salad you are missing a treat. Of course you must get the ranch dressing (in house made) to really enjoy it. I highly recommend this place. Oh and the pizzas are also very good. read more

I went by the reviews and am sadly disappointed with this pizza. I'm sorry that I have to give a bad review, but though all our traveling this was the worst pizza I've had yet. I did not encounter a friendly face and other than the taste of the sauce and the cheese there was no taste to the pizza crust. The garlic bread was literally bread and butter. I wish you the best in the future, but if you can't master the pizza I hope you can keep loyal customers from Weatherford tx that will support you. I ordered while I was shopping at Walmart. Still the same great food and atmosphere our grandchildren got to play on the games that are there now. The employees were very friendly and the service was great. I have been coming to this place for the last 20 years and my spouse has been going forever as he grew up there. Prior to Roger's passing you could tell the food was made with love. It was quality, delicious, warm and filled your soul as well as your belly. While the food is still good, it's not the same. The vibe is off, the food is off etc. recent changes to staff was also a poor decision as today when I arrived they all were the most unfriendly crew I have ever encountered. Also the trays were dirty and table seemed like it was going to fall apart. It's sad to see how this place has changed for the worse in just a few years. It would not let me respond to your comment. Today was my first time and I really wanted to like this place since I would rather support local but the pizza was not good. The sausage pizza was really bad. There was barely any cheese or sauce on it, the crust was hard and tasted like cardboard. My kids have always finished their pizza but they couldn't even finish the first slice. My first (of many) visit(s) to The Pizza Place was back in 2000 and I am happy to report my most recent trip, last week, was exactly how I remembered lunch at The Pizza Place. The set-up is pretty simple: walk in and get in line, order at the register, take your playing card, get your drink, and find a table. As you walk in you'll find a listing of their weekday lunch specials on the wall. I always go for their personal pizza with a personal salad combo and be sure to always get a cup of their house sauce to dip your pizza in. Back on my original visits I would always go for their burger pizza. Now that I am a vegetarian I've tried several different veggie combos on my pizza and The Pizza Place always delivers. This gem seems to be captured in time-things seem the same as they did twenty years ago. A TV in the corner, several arcade games under the stairs (they do have two stories of seating), tables throughout the dinning room, and graffiti all along the walls. Service is friendly, pizza comes out hot and fresh, and we leave with a smile. If you want to eat local and support small business there is no better place to accomplish said goals than by a trip to The Pizza Place. read more

Where do I start? Our first time here. The ranch was great, hence the 3 stars. Cashier stared at us when we walked in and I had to ask where the menu was and she pointed to a small holder of take out menus on the wall. Ordered the cheese pizza lunch and cheese bread sticks. Couldn't drink 2 of the sodas I tried, it was funky! Hubs tea was fine. Cheese sticks arrived and we both looked at eachother like what is that?! Greasy uncooked dough with cheese. I gave then back to cashier thinking they were not fully cooked and she just threw them away. No reply what so ever. Pizza was the same as the bread stick with cheese. I know this is a Weatherford staple but after giving it a try I don't understand the hype. The pizzas are very small first off. A large is more like a medium anywhere else and the flavor was just not there. I'm a big guy, I believe in finishing the plate but after two slices I was done. All I could taste was grease, hardly any sauce at all is what I think the main issue was. The price is the nail in the coffin though. Came in with 8 people and a baby, got 1 large pizza, 2 mediums and a small. I had to ask for a wet towel to clean off our table and a high chair since everything was sticky and disgusting. Someone should have tried to help since it's not my job to clean their tables and chairs but nobody did. When asking for literally anything at the window people behind will just stand there and stare at u, only one lady was helping and doing all the work! I've been here once and loved it during lunch time but OMG coming for dinner was a huge mistake! It was like night and day! Which was embarrassing cause I spoke so highly of this place. It pains me to write this review. I grew up eating at Pizza Place, but I've tried it time and again, and since Roger passed away this place has gone down hill. The kids working aren't like they were when I was in school. They are rude, dismissive and act like they hate being there. The food itself is not the same quality either. My pizzas are always cold, and the crust is burnt, or the directions aren't followed, and the creamy Italian dressing is always warm and the container is usually not even half full. Do better for Roger and his family people! He worked so hard to make this place amazing and it's not "amazing" anymore. read more

My wife and I ordered a Extra Large sampler pizza with jalapenos (the idea was to take home leftovers for the next day), and an order of cheese stuffed bread sticks. The girl at the counter was very friendly. Wait time for our order was about 20 to 25 minutes. Once we got our food, the owner Roger, came by our table and greeted us. He was very nice and offered to bring us some dipping sauces for the breadsticks. He brought us a small cup of homemade spaghetti sauce and a small cup of garlic butter - both very tasty. The pizza was LOADED with toppings (see pics). Prices weren't too bad....and the food quality trumps places like Dominos, Pizza Hut, Papa Johns, etc. We were very pleased overall and will return again. read more

Mr. Grizzard runs a delicious pizza joint. This has been my favorite place to eat pizza for the last fifteen years. It's family owned and operated. It's made with quality, fresh ingredients. I always order pepperoni and hamburger because the in-house hamburger meat is so crumbly and well-seasoned. I love to dip the slice in the creamy Italian dressing, too! After attending our event, The Pizza Place was our second eatery stop in Weatherford. My girlfriend has fond memories of this place from her childhood, so it was a must-stop when we came to Weatherford. Walking in, I definitely understand why, as this place has been untouched by time. Any child of the eighties would love this place as it harkens back to the old-school pizza places of dimly lit, greasy spoon pizzerias adorned with wood paneling about. In this day and age of trendy restaurants, The Pizza Place is a holdover of a time now lost. As should be expected with any classic pizzeria, the pizza also was great. We ordered just a hamburger pizza to go, as it was The Girlfriend's childhood favorite. It wasn't overly cheesy and the crust was great, probably my favorite part. A cool aspect of the hamburger pizza is that the meat is not served in massive pieces as is often seen on most hamburger/sausage pizzas, but instead in very fine, smaller pieces. The combination of great crust and toppings definitely makes this for one of the better pizzas I have had in the DFW area in a while. I would equate the thickness of the pizza to Mama's for those familiar with the famous Fort Worth chain. We definitely plan on going back to try their other pies for our next trip to Weatherford. read more

Still some of the best pizza around. I grew up in Weatherford and have since moved to Los Angeles and I still dream about Pizza Place pizza! The only thing I can say that would be "bad" is the cleanliness of the restaurant. They really need to get someone to do a thorough cleaning. The chains on the lighting have dust on them that I'm sure has been there since the place opened, but that doesn't stop me from coming back. The crust on their pizza is crispy and so good. The toppings are so good. Especially the hamburger, it is cooked real fine and crumbly. The hamburger does not have extra seasoning but is not dry and tastes like hamburger. The pizzas are served hot and maintain the heat longer than other pizza places. The toppings are piled high and piled, not layered like other restaurants. The side salad is simple with lettuce tomatoes and croutons but you really ought to be hungry if you order the chef salad!, it is huge, has meat and cheese and I have not been able to finish one in one setting. The creamy Italian dressing is made special for The Pizza Place, it is also really yummy. The staff is mostly high school students but they are trained well and maintain a professional atmosphere. The tables and booths have been in the building since they started many, many years ago.
